  1. I'm getting closer Tim. If I put it in primer, I don't go back to change anything. Committed at that point.
  2. And the final and most currently being worked WIP: AMT KW Alaskan Hauler; My problems here is it is an older release and has what a friend who used to own our last LHS says is a tendency to have brittle parts. (He was quite right) Frame broke. Fixed it. And have now just been hoping other items hold together during the build. Some minor breaks, but going OK. It has the grill integrated into the radiator. Both hood sides have the same notch for both air cleaners to go on. A Mercury sleeper (original was warped beyond repair). And also leaving dual exhaust. Removing ten holes and replacing with 5 spokes. Oh yeah, widening the headlight brackets to fit the dual bezels from the tilt hood. Whew.....about does it. I know some of you have seen some of this but.............I've slept since then if you know what I mean. Enjoy.
  3. Continuing along: AMT GMC Astro; Drastically shortened frame. Single axle from the Ford delivery. Pulled out the DD and put in the Cummins from a Freight Shaker Dual Drive. Revell W900 exhaust. It is to pull a set of 27' pups not yet started. Next: This is the AMT MACK Cruiseliner; Stretched frame. Self steer lift axle. AMT tanker section placed as DROM. Hoping the DROM will not be too high as I placed an extra frame section to place piping around drive lines.
  4. OK.......gonna build one thread to show some of my completed work and lots of in progress. I have not posted in awhile so, I figured this was the best use of my time. As I get some of the WIP rigs finished/farther along, I will seperate and post individually. So, here goes. First up: completed Revell W900 snap. Box stock for parts but improvements include; filled interior mount tabs both rear of sleeper and side of cab. Engine locator pins removed for concealment. Engine has official CAT yellow (friend used to work at the CAT house and gave me a gallon of touch up) Next up: Repair job on a half built WIP; ERTL MACK DM600 with a 3/4in stretch to fit the AMT Autocar dump body. Was started probably 15 to 20 years ago and went to storage. Cats got into the storage and broke the frame and other pcs. Put frame back together and ended up with a bow in it so we put strips to smooth that out. The rest is self explanatory. Mud daubers too.....hate em!!! Third in line: AMT Ford Louisville Delivery; almost box stock except I took the tandem rears from the AMT GMC Astro (cuz it went single-next one) and it will be a granite counter top/headstone co. hauler. Next on next entry.
  5. Jon cole is right. I have found though that a 45 deg. angle cut handles the stress very well and a small scab patch on the back works the same way that I have done real steel. creates a strong joint. If you have an X-Acto miter box, look at that bottom lip it has too. I clamp it all to that as it sits upside down and it is a strong straight edge. Leave it clamped until it is cured, not just set.
  6. They are mostly flat surfaces, right? That sounds pretty simple. Just need to get the measurements correct.
  7. Not the Louisville for sure. I have three different versions. It has two dimples in the frame that small post rest in.
  8. Well, I guess mine does apply cuz it's "Turquoise Blue". Had this in my latest "Top the Cop" contest. Barry
  9. Hey Gordan, you know if all your gonna do with that Wilson Livestock trailer is throw it in a pile...... I could put it to some better use! But seriously, the Boss is looking good!
  10. I'm not so sure it's not photo shopped!!! Why is there a step in front of the front tire? Does it use that much of the COE under carriage? Just saying!!!!
  11. I really like the JD tow truck. Must be cuz I am partial to the green and yellow (uh having two and all) . But its looking good. Barry
  12. Dingo, heres a google search on it. www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=chicken%20lights 1. chicken lights. any lights put on a 18-wheeler that arn't factory. would you look at that Pete commin down the road, ###### things lit up with all dem chicken ...
  13. Dingo, there is a post on here from awhile back about those, but it's the rows and rows of clearance lights (more so than normal). Don't remember exact reason that chicken haulers put them on, but it became a custom accessory instead of an industry marking. Something about chicken haulers used them to signal other truckers that that was the type load they had........???????
  14. Leo, I have that Volvo. It is still unbuilt, but best I can tell, its a pretty decent kit. It seems to be nowhere near the issues of the Pete.
  15. Tony, I have a full Gal. from the CAT house. Buddy gave it to me several years ago and finally got a chance to use. Was originally gonna use it on a lawnmower. It has since konked out. Oh well, leaves more for the kits. lol
  16. Ian, my son's name is Ian. Great job on the Volvo. I can really tell that you can't stand those crazy mini's! :D  Keep up the good work.
  17. I read in the Commercial Equipment and Truck forum this morning that he will take $1000. Excluding shipping at an estimate of $16.+ each, or you can drive to Branson, Mo. and get them. $1500 and he will send it all to you. It is a very sad deal because he states it is for health reasons. KEEP HIM IN YOUR PRAYERS GUYS!!!!!!
  18. Shuan, PERFECT!!!! got every single one! Large and clear. Thank you sir for the update. Able to see all of your great stuff, no problem.
  19. Hey Chuck, your images are not coming through for me. I like the older rigs as well. The new stuff tends to start looking like everything else on the road. Just BIGGER!!!!
  20. Shaun, welcome. Hey, can you do us a favor on the pics? I had problems getting your thumbnails to open up. Any chance you have a photobucket account? I use the image code on the bottom option of my pics and post it right on the thread. Drag over the pic, click "img code" then go back to thread, right click at the end of your post and paste it on. Works great!
  21. Yes you can. It's a B-1B Bomber. and from the looks of the terrain, it's not from here in TX at Dyess AFB where I used to work on them. Probably the N. Dakota crews.
  22. And if you read the fine print on that site, it looks like we gotta wait till October.....
  23. BTW.............Awesome acquisition!!!!!!!!!! Wish I could find a stash like that.
  24. Chris, it is a 2500 series. dont remember the exact model because the one I have was put into storage in a zip-lock and the box tossed to save space. (worst decision I ever made) One of these guys will know. It is the ERTL line.
