  1. Welcome Adam. Could you do me a favor? I am wanting to build a heavy trailer and that dolly set up on yours looks interesting. Could you get a few closer pics of that for me? I dont think I have seen that style before. Thanks. Barry
  2. Erik, thanks for the comments on my stock 56'. It is a tribute to a 1:1 that my older brother had. He and I did lots of work on it. He has since passed due to a brain tumor. He had the car from 1981 until about 1992 when the medical bills forced its selling. I would have loved to have taken it from him, but a no go on that. Good luck with the rest of your build. It's looking great. Barry
  3. Erik, I just finished this kit, box stock. Yours makes mine look like childs play. However, I must warn you that I did have some fit issues with the front suspension and the frame to the body. I had to place a 1/16 in. disc around the mount pin on one side to pull the twist out of the frame. Here's some pics tho. They don't show the issues, but we got it to turn out ok. Ended up gluing the tires turned solid. No more steerable front end. Hope I haven't burst any bubbles. Yours is looking great. Good luck. Barry PS: tape is holding on the door while the glue cures to repair the door hinge, AFTER it was all assembled!!!!
  4. Hey george, would love to see those older builds of yours but that link is not working. Barry
  5. BTW guys, the term DROM box is taken from.....you guessed it (I hope) the dromedary(sp) camel. One hump set upon his back. I did a ton of research on it not too long ago because I am building a "north American" van lines with a drom and up and coming plans are for a tank drom on a Mack COE with an "A" and a "B" unit. Have an awesome 1:1 reference photo for it. Cheers Barry
  6. Charlie's right. Those of us here that are in public safety could tell of some serious stories. Been a Peace Officer for 11+ yrs and am finally not on the streets for the holidays. However, I can say the same as Charlie about the schools because my office is in one. Terry, thank your boys for me for their part in all this and my prayers go out to those in need. Be safe all. Barry
  7. Anybody need some reference pics for a house tug? This is a funny one. My buddy is now my next door neighbor and when they brought in his triple wide manufactured home, the driver lost the keys for it. I guess it wasn't too terribly important for them cuz they left the dang thing out there for a full week. Enjoy. Barry http://s1104.photobucket.com/albums/h331/bwbond007/1%20to%201%20house%20tug/
  8. That's a nice Mack Adam. Barry
  9. Hey Matt, not that it really matters, but I ran across the MIA instruction sheet from my COE this weekend. Coulda swore it was a Chevy Titan 90. Turns out, that crazy things a GMC Astro 95. Like I said, not that it really matters. I was dealing with just a cab and frame parts and am not too familiar with the minor details between the two. Anyway, thats where I'm at on things. Barry
  10. I was so busy with what was on my workbench saturday that I didn't post. Was up till 1:30 then and then 4:30 this morning to make the deadline for contest. Barry
  11. Congrats and to answer your question Rodney.........yes. I have two boys that are both adopted. Got one at 2 he is now 17 the other at 4 and almost 7 now.
  12. The name rocks. Keep up the good work and healing. Barry
  13. Sounds like what I had to deal with growing up. Now I am building an entire garage for my stuff. See "Let me see your workbench" on the workbench forum. (WIP) Anywa, good luck. Keep on building. Barry
  14. My problem is, I have so many to build that I will work a little here, then a little there, and so on. Long time will go by and it will look like nothing has been accomplished. If I had to pick, I am building a Ford Louisville Shorthauler being converted to dual axle, a Chevy Titan 90 being converted to single axle to be combined with a set of 27' pups. All of those are for a CBP for tractor trailer build. Barry See what I mean. Argh....the stress of it all. Laters
  15. That Rocks. Way to go Barbo. Barry
  16. Mike, found me a concrete guy that poured around the steel supports that you see. That section is set 9ft high instead of 8ft. The lean-to was set at 8ft for wall height. It made it much easier for the roof setup. I will take some pics of the progress while my paint is drying this evening. Got one I need to finish before Friday. Barry
  17. Ben, one thing to consider being indoors, get you one of those portable tire tanks to piggy back your little one. They are not too big and it will keep your cycles to a minimum. A little bit longer cycle each time but might be worth it for the extra capacity. Barry
  18. Thanks Ray. I'm afraid that all of the body work will need to be redone. Think its gonna have to get dunked to fix it right. The three seperate pcs for the cab are coming apart. Can't have that. Barry
  19. And finally, we have the beginnings of the new space. Hope to complete in about 6 more months or so. Wanting to afford insulation to finish inside. started as a 12ft x 16ft shed. Stretched to 20ft and added a 10ft lean-to for the hobby room. 22ft x 20ft overall. pics are older. it is much farther along than what you see. And the only reason I've done it all this way.........it's all been free! The mobile home, the portable building, and the shed. All freebies. Sorry so long, but I was desperate to share. I had to split it into three. Sorry bout that too. Barry OK this is my update. Mainly for Mike the structural engineer I have poured the concrete, put up walls with exterior sheeting and am about to get siding on it. The main door that is currently covered will be an oversized roll-up to fit my dually if I need to work on it, and the double doors will be the workshop. Still needs a dividing wall inside and sheetrock. Barry
  20. Next is the 10ft x 16ft portable building that is the current/temporary hobby room in order to have a place to work as well as keep the mud daubers out. But, I have to share the space with several hundred books due to my wife having a large collection associated with homeschooling our kids for the last 12 yrs. (Is still called the classroom, even though this house has the room inside to teach)
