  1. Excellent vintage racer! It reminds me of the late Jerry Sims' (Luke'57) work. He would have enjoyed seeing this.
  2. Superb! I've also built this kit, but box stock. I'm amazed at the level of detail and scratchbuilding that went into this.
  3. Very nice! The color looks like it might be Tamiya Coral Blue; I built a '62 T-Bird using it.
  4. Just. Plain. Stunning. Love the wheelcovers. Wow.
  5. I also enjoyed following its progress, and it came out beautifully. Well done.
  6. Thanks for the photos and paint info, Dave. The Tamiya color is a bit closer, but I will check out the automotive colors.
  7. Thanks, Chuck. This is an awesome molding. I hope I can do justice to this. Your '61 build made me order this. Definitely one of the coolest early '60s Mopars out there.
  8. Yup, Mike. White roof with the Emerald Green body. Thanks for the paint info, Charlie. I will do a test spray on white primer before the build.
  9. Yeah, I should've bought the paint right there, but c'est la vie. They did have several cans of the color, so I know I can get it. Here's the Hemmimgs article car I'll be building: http://www.hemmings.com/hcc/stories/2006/06/01/hmn_feature3.html
  10. I'm debating on whether or not I'll add a transmission and driveshaft hump to the JoHan style interior. I'm leaning towards the not, as it's shallow, and wouldn't add a significant difference. The car I'm going to base this build on has black carpeting, so it won't be very noticeable. When I was at Michael's, I saw that Testors has an Emerald Green acrylic lacquer that is nearly identical to the Plymouth color that year (with the same color name that Plymouth had!). If my hips weren't ready to give out at the time, I would have found a clerk to unlock the spray paint cabinet to get the color. No problem; I'll make it back there soon.
  11. Here are some of the promised pictures. The "gold" glow on the grille is a result of the ambient overhead lighting, and is not present on the parts. I'm still reeling at how beautifully these parts are molded and plated. Well worth the money. Without further adieu, the model:
  12. I have to admit that I'm not a huge lowrider fan, but I love seeing the paint jobs and graphics they often have. Excellent fogged paint on this, and the color is fantastic. I hope you will be able to post a video of the working bits when it's done.
  13. Hi Bence, and nice job on your Firebird. The Route 66 diorama base adds a lot to the model. I'm sure that your military modeling adds much to your skills. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.
  14. Beautiful work on this. I saw these run at Lime Rock some years ago, and they are "large" relative to the others running at the time in American Le Mans. For decades, I've been a diesel advocate, and Audi did a lot to prove to the world that they could be neither slow or stinky engines. Excellent modeling job.
  15. Thanks, Daniel! Here's the waving flag; a good one at that.
  16. I'll take some pictures tomorrow and post them. I'm blown away as far as how well the whole model was molded; amazing stuff. I can see that it'll take a little work to drill out the correct stock chassis wheel centers, but that's a minor issue. I'm very psyched to build this. Stay tuned for pics.
  17. I received my Modelhaus '61 Pymouth Fury yesterday, and man, am I impressed! I've built a number of 1/43 Provence Moulage and Starter resin models, but had never built a Modelhaus 1/25. I've read the rave reviews from folks here about his kits, and even at that, I expected at least a little filling and sanding. If there's anything that even remotely needs filling are a few tiny depressions on the absolute lowest part of the rocker panels, and primer will definitely fill those. The quality of the molding, plating, tires, and vacuformed clear parts are beyond reproach. I plan to build it in the same emerald green/white roof color scheme as one featured in Hemmings Classic Cars a few years ago. Now that I see the quality, I will definitely order parts to restore my JoHan '62 Plymouth. I was also able to get out today to Michael's and Harbor Freight (my first trip to both,) and picked up some good supplies. Years ago, a former roommate had taken off with my very expensive set of digital calipers, and I was able to get a decent set with a coupon for $9.95. My legs were ready to give out after a few stops including the grocery store, and Michael's was the last one, so I couldn't spend a lot of time there. I picked up some paints and modeling supplies I needed (I hadn't a clue they had those things,) so it was a very fruitful day. I'm disabled, and rarely get out, so this was a treat. I need to spend a few hours at Michael's sometime, as I got a slew of great ideas just whirling through the isles. If anyone wants, I can take a pic of the Modelhaus Plymouth kit, and post it here in the next few days. Let me know.
  18. Man, I was way off! Wouldn't have guessed this at all. I still say it isn't a particularly pleasing design. I guess it's proof that a last gasp can be unpleasant.
  19. Beautiful!
  20. I have to admit to being beyond stumped. I'm guessing it's an Asian retro showcar design (in light of the RHD), but other than that, forget it. Not a particularly pleasing design, especially the front end, IMHO. Kind of looks like a '48 Buick, Hudson, Muntz, Chrysler Thunderbolt, and a Mercedes were tossed in a blender.
  21. I'm going to take a guess on those tanks, mainly from this picture: http://theoldmotor.com/?attachment_id=10953 It shows your Lozier in "racing" mode, but with headlights. Could those have been acetylene tanks for the front and rear lights? I'm sure that some of the cars were driven to races, and for the actual event, the headlights and tanks were then removed completely. Just an educated guess.
  22. Please do it, Harry! I built that kit, too, but it was stolen many years ago. Wish I still had it.
  23. Yes, Skip; the very one that Curt is going to model. Here's the Hemmings Classic Car mag article on it: http://www.hemmings.com/hcc/stories/2009/04/01/hmn_feature6.html
  24. Beautiful. As an aside, I read in the current issue of AutoWeek that McQueen's 1970 Porsche 911S is coming up for auction. Although I will never get around to it, I thought a model set of that 911 and the 917 side by side from the movie Le Mans would be cool.
