  1. O.K. Thanks guys. A raised edge, huh I call it a return!
  2. Who makes a tire like this, 215 75 R17.5 and rims to match, 17.5 x 6 10 stud wheel rims. For a widening trailer build.
  3. What is, or are, a; coaming rail, b ; beaver tail. These terms seen on a spec sheet for a widening trailer. Thank you
  4. 1/24 = 2 feet, per inch of scale 1/25 = 2 feet 1 inch, per inch of scale So a trailer 40 feet will be 1/24 = 40 x 12 = 480 inches / divided by 24 = 20.00 inches. 1/25 = 40 x 12 = 480 inches / divided by 25 = 19.20 inches. Does it look right to be smaller or larger, a question for the rivet counters and perfectionists.
  5. Not to add fuel to an over the top discussion but, when I started this miasma I also wished for better tires what about that. Styrene tires made in halves, split into two pieces, could be made with logos, lettering , accurate tread patterns and a bump for a weighted look, right?. This would be a great sale s point, kits with life like tires to fit the wheel rims too. Chew on this a while.
  6. Please Hessel send me a link for the drawing plans I have a desktop cnc and can try to make that. Need those plans though. PM me or something. Jons'en for plans!!
  7. Ben said this, "I do have blueprints to build one from scratch though." O.K. Ben, would you consent to sending me copies of those prints and I'll try to build one for myself. If you agree PM me and we'll talk. Thank you
  8. Man I am so sorry for this. I didn't have any idea my rant would cause such a furor. I am sooooo sorry guys. Uncle I give O.K. no bulldozers!!!!! I'm sooooo sorry!!!
  9. Let us then, both pro and con start a petition right here right now to the leading manufacturers. This my name and let be first. Now ,put your money where your opinion is!!! We the undersigned request that new molds for a modern tracked excavator be produced and marketed as soon as possible under current manufacturing and engineering capabilities. Richard A Rozzi
  10. I also would welcome any construction model, an excavator, dozer or telescoping lift crane. I may go out and buy two of those today. I too will will civy them and paint'em Krylon Old CAT Yellow
  11. Man I didn't expect this. I apologize for the hub hub. On the tire question, my personal hell, the current offerings bite, period. Suitable substitutes are few and far between, agreed ?. Resin casters are a cottage industry as I indicated, but. I'd personally appreciate a yearly update at least, they do want to make money don't they?. As for tractors, I didn't mention lawn mowers, but big industrial farm and loading types in 1/25th scale. Many big rig rig modellers would more than welcome them as loads for their trailers and dioramas.. We also need pick ups that are more up to date ,not more Mustangs and 63' Chevy Low Riders!!. These are, of course, my opinions only and NOT meant to defame or injure any reputations or personalities. Thanks for the spirited debate guys.
  12. I am very interested in this project. I would like information on where to get drawings of this trailer. The only issues to scratch building one is the suspension. All those parts. I must re think my future projects, this might be on worth doing instead. Please send me a link for the drawings.
  13. These are good looking tires, but where's the rims to match? I know he gave examples but where to get them??
  14. With all the "stuff" being done today, why not these things! 1- better scale tires made from styrene. If the Armor Model Co.'s can do it, why doesn't AMT or Revell or Mobius do it? 2- I know it is a cottage industry but why can't resin vendors keep their web sites updated and current as to stock availability?? 3- when are we going to get models of construction and farm tractors?. Not hay-baler or manure spreaders, things like those great big multi- wheeled John Deer's and some excavators or bucket loaders and such?. After a while I personally get tired of seeing more Mustangs or Chargers or 32' Ford' and whats with all those NASCAR re issued smoothed over and re packaged. Let's try something daring and different? Just the results of a recent conversation with some of my modeller buddies after a night of six packs.L.O.L.
  15. For living things, IMPOSSIBLE, never. But for what this thread implies it needs to, involve a 3d scanner to sample the original create a file, send, receive, and then print. The printing will be fused deposition not the current melted ABS systems for hobbiests. I await your orders Captain, Spock out!!!!
  16. There's only one close to me but I never see any coupons or advertising for the store. That sucks!
  17. My sand cast foundry knowledge says to leave them on. Most castings that do not have to be chromed or body color painted are just snagged, and ground. Snagging is cutting of the flash and grinding the parting line as to not cause finishing and machining issues. I always leave them on engine parts , rear end casings and even body parts as in the last post indicated.
  18. O.K. Auslowe it is then. Thanks
  19. I read the numbers but wish it was in English. Any models of those motors, Detroit Diesel 8V-71T or the Cummins Vt903????.
  20. O.K. Yes, it does help. Aside from the tank above the rear window, my assumption about the ducting was correct. Are you sure of the Cummins 6cyl. Some drawings I have seem to indicate a V-8???
  21. Oh, the photo lies in my previous post titled Interesting Truck Photo.
  22. Can someone help me out here. Take a look at the rear view photo of the Paymaster truck, could you answer some questions about this truck. What, is that tank above the rear window for? Where does that ducting, at the lower right of the engine go to, and from? And, knowing that there were a few variations of this beast, what model and type, engine is general used? Finally, if I model a variant what if truck, would I be too far out to power it with an Allison Twin Turbo Charged V-12? I like big rigs but don't know a whole lot about them yet.
  23. I posted on the similarities to a drawing I'd seen that I attributed to a Russian designer. Well I was wrong. This truck design built by The White Motor Co. was the brainchild of one, Count Alexis De Sakhonoffsky, (1901-1964), who designed many of the streamlined truck concepts of his time. I just wanted to correct any misconceptions regarding my earlier post on this subject. Thank you guys.

  25. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I can use this to get the dimensions and general placements. Thank you again sir.
