  1. Not sure if this is the proper forum. I need help finding a diagram or blueprint for a large dump body. I want to scratch build a dump trailer body and I'm having issues finding one. Any help would be appreciated.
  2. I must agree with these comments, do not do it. Why not get the milling attachment for the lathe, it mounts to the cross slide. It's limited in travel but perfect for scale stuff.
  3. It's still a Seig machine. Grizzly and Harbor Freight will have them soon enough. By the way Anne there is a Harbor Freight store opening soon in Salem N.H. the only other one is in Amherst N.H. on Rt. 101.
  4. I have the Grizzly 8689 mini mill. It is the very same one from Micro Mark with these exceptions. It is not metric, the lead screws are Imperial now. The table has a thrust bearing on the lead screw, to minimize backlash, an ever present bugaboo for small millers. If I was to buy one now ,I'd go with the Micro Mark, and opt for the E Series collets, no slip tool grip and minimum run out is assured. In the scheme of modeling, I have used it only once to create parts and I have used my mini lathe more than the mill. Oh, by the way, when it arrives it will need assembly, as it comes in, at least mine did, several packages. This is a tool that keeps on giving, so be ready for a very interesting ride!
  5. Yes new trucks, new trucks, all new trucks yesssss.
  6. O.K. So I want to know how you did the tread pattern. I have Solidworks 2007, not the student version, and I just can't seem to get the treads to circular pattern. I have a slew of tire ideas rolling around my mind, but, am stymied by the treads. Want to maybe offer them for sale one day if I can ever get the whole thing drawn out. PM me please, and lets talk about tread patterning.
  7. O.K. I will airbrush it, message received. Thanks to all.
  8. O.K., but the aforementioned use would be for, grained and cast surfaces only, like engine blocks and cylinder heads and those types of items. So what do you say for that type of application, yes, no!?
  9. I have never tried Alclad as of yet, but, I am wondering for small part applications, could I brush on the black under coat?. I'm thinking, say for an engine block, then apply white aluminum, by brush. What would be the issues if any using this method. I haven't seen anything about this type of app. Comments??
  10. Outrageously expensive, what!! Simulate it or, I may be willing to part with my Lycoming Helo engine?.
  11. Since I'll be building a new man cave, the one most important thing for me is an adequately large bench area I can't clutter up while I'm building. Second is proper storage for supplies that doesn't interfere with the bench space, T.V., computer and spray booth. I have ample tooling and the will to build is strong.
  12. I agree also, without the right wheel tire combo's there is no personality, look or image.
  13. Thanks to all for the input and suggestions. I have received the information on this item and it does look to be not ready for our electric system as of yet. So, I guess I did jump too fast on this one. Again I thank you all for the support.
  14. Well I can say I'm disappointed with this news, but not surprised, seeing as Tamiya Model Magazine is a European publication. I will just have to source it elsewhere whenever it comes available. Thanks for the information it is well appreciated.
  15. O.K. So where do we get one? Does he make'em for sale, I'd love one of those steroidal VW's In English if possible?
  16. No, and no. I am now of the opinion that I may just be too early to jump concerning this item. If pocketbond.co.uk will be the distributor, it is too early to get info on it and, probably hasn't even been stocked as of yet.
  17. I have scoured that issue and the following for anything that related to it, including pocketbond's web site, emailed and commented on forums, all to no avail.
  18. Oh man, you've hit my sore spot. Kit manufacturers are really dissing the market here. They are just not hearing us! Kit wheels and tires, plain and simply, suck!! If we, as modellers and consumer, can be a voice, I'd like to see us get through on this one. We need to see a new, modern, and accurately done, mold made so the tires match the types being offered by the likes of TAMIYA and AOSHIMA and lets not forget about FUJIMI. These are some of the best ones around. Stop the madness and man up, gives us wheels and tire that fit and are up to date. Hear us!!!
  19. No, I don't think so, it was in the Tamiya Model magazine both times. It is predominantly blue, with black and green accents. The name Master Tools is on as a sticker right up front on the belt guard. I am sure it is legit.
  20. Nope, not Proxxon. It clearly states it is Master Tools, but I can't even find a web site for it!!
  21. It is a sturdy compact drill press for your bench top. More stout than the Dremel drill press accessory and has a real three jaw chuck with key, variable speed and made of engineered polymers and steel.
  22. This must be the case here.
  23. I have a beef, in some other publication recently, a product was reviewed. In the review a distributor was given, while visiting that site no such item was present. Why do they do this, tempt you, then, dash you on the rocks of despair ,L.O.L. Then, in the same magazine the following month it was again featured, at the Nuremberg Toy Show non the less, again no further information was given. I did a Google search and came up empty, man I'm peeved, I want to buy one! F.Y.I. It is a Master Tools Pillar Drill, real sharp quality tool, but does it really exist????? One wonders....
  24. Man I really miss these, they were great tires. I got one pair of Desesrt Dogs and one pair of sweet slicks saved for future special builds. I wish he would start up again we really need a supplier like that.
  25. I have a Grizzly 8689 and it's sort of temperamental, due to its rough and generally inaccurate set up and machining. It will take some measure of tweaking and skilled set up to get to perform as it should. The axiom, "you get what you pay for", is in high gear here. Visit the Mini Lathe site, google that and it will send you to the right place with tips and techniques for just that model lathe. It is made by the same Chinese company that make all those tools in that price point. Good Luck Girl. Don't drop and bucks until you visit the site mentioned.
