Bill, I have DSL at home as Comcast in my area has unreliable service when bad weather strikes. You should have gotten a kit from the DSL vendor with phone filters and a "modem". You can get a long phone extension or keep the modem close to the phone and get a long ethernet (CAT5) cable from the modem to the computer. You need the filters to reduce noise on the phone line when the DSL is active. I keep my modem connected to a switchable surge protector so when I shut down I power off the modem as well (plus my router). HTH Gerry

Hasegawa '58 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa!!!!!
Exotics_Builder replied to larrygre's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Thanks for answering Bob. Dave, as Bob said you can get it from Mediamix. I didn't order the delux set, just the PE, exhausts and air horns. I didn't want the wheel set as I got the Hasegawa wheel set. You could also wait for Kevin at Strada Sports to get them in and order from him. Both Kevin and MediaMix have excellent customer service. PM me if you want more information. -

And for those thinking about the AcuStion PE set, forget it. KA models has come out with a set (including separates): -
Revell Baldwin Motion 1970 Chevelle
Exotics_Builder replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's a mistake. It's 1/24 scale. Per a Revell guy, the mistake was caught, was to have been corrected and somehow didn't. -

Nice job on that one Terry! Gerry -
Well, I got a chance to see the early test shot of the Revell Nova (all gray plastic) but wasn’t able to take any photos because it hadn’t been reviewed yet for quality. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get pictures at next month’s club meeting. The model looked very nicely proportioned. The Chevy small block is the typical SMB Chevy we’ve seen in the Camaro Z/28 and other offerings. The hood also has the slight curve at the edges that appears prototypical and which is not on the AMT Chevy (the AMT hood is flat across the back as we examined at the meeting). The Revell person didn’t have the exact release date. When I mentioned some online sites were stating May, he said if it were May, it would be late May. But, it will more likely be June. Revell is considering other versions of the Nova, so stay tuned. But for those of you hoping for a stock six-banger, I wouldn’t keep my hopes up too high (My opinion only). Revell, and their parent, are looking at what sells. “Plain Jane’s†are often not mass market appeal sellers. But then who knows?

Medical Problem Of Mine

How in the world did I miss Bob's first note? I must be skimming through the board messages too quickly. Bob, both my wife Sandy and I wish you a quick recovery and good health going forward. Gerry -
I'll likely see a Revell guy at our club meeting on the 15th. If he's there, I'll see if he knows more. He wasn't very positive on April at our last meeting.

Amt Gto Mystery Parts?

Yep! That sure does kill that theory. Don't have either kit so can't check it out. -
Amt Gto Mystery Parts?
Exotics_Builder replied to Bristol Man's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If it's what I think it is, AMT used to have styrene "add-on's" to widen a tire instead of providing a separate set of tires. I think the 69 Corvair was available with that amongst others. I'm wondering if that's what you have there? These would mount over the vinyl tires provided and be held by the wheel, since the back half of the wheel would tie to the vinyl tire. Not very convincing up close even when painted. -

The 599 kit from Revell of Germany and Fujimi has been out for some time. Revell USA will repackage the Revell of Germany 599 and release it in 2008. I don't yet know a release date as the person I talked to at Revell didn't know. -

Hi Everyone!!

Puget Sound Auto Modelers' Association does the Puyallup Show. I used to be a member plus past newsletter editor, president and contest coordinator. It's a little tough to get to meetings now as I'm 2000 miles east off I-90. -
As Bob said, I was concentrating on the 2008 releases. Sorry I didn't reiterate the previous relase announcement. I included the 32 Ford Sedan, which was in the previous announcement as well, because it was there and there's been a lot of buzz about it. I wish I had more time to nose around and get more pictures, but I had to work the Make and Take and after the show opened, it got very crowded and I didn't have time to go do more. I also didn't have time this year to do non-automotive like I did last year.

Enzo Ferrari Would Have Been Proud!
Exotics_Builder replied to Enzoenvy1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I haven't seen that particular option in the Ferrari catalog -
As part of the IHobby Expo, Revell Monogram, Xuron and Testors supported a Make and Take. One of the Model Car Clubs I belong to here, Lake Michigan Model Car Club, ran the event and I was privileged to help out for a few hours Saturday. The primary model was the Revell Wheels of Fire 63 Corvette Stingray Convertible. It was a fun build, with the exception of a lot of broken steering wheels needing glue fix. Here are some pictures from the event. I think the last picture kind of summarizes the satisfaction. The young girl was in the “section†I was covering and I helped her Mom get her through the build. Her brother (supported by her Dad) was building next to her. Although starting later, her brother started looking at the mini-catalog by his place and allowed her to just squeak out completion before him (Not that they were really in competition). Let’s hope they’ll keep the thrill going and do more!
