  1. Already published.
  2. Almost finished. I hope the STL files will be ready tommorow
  3. Dear all, I hope I will have the first test print of my VW T2 camping trailer this weekend. Since I have ideas for zillions of versions of this trailer, it seems it will be an endless story, which must be interrupted from time to time by a different refreshing idea. I was thinking about a compact chris craft style runaboat, and a trailer of course. But there is this not really bad AMT/MPC speed boats and trailers. I wanted to know in advance is there really an interest in 3D model of another boat? Regards Walid PS. Any idea why the entire post is included instead of the link??
  4. Shorty is standing now on its own feet
  5. Inspired by Dub Box trailers I decided to make a 3D model of a VW T2 matching trailer. Here is a photo of the WIP current status. I hope you like it.
  6. Who doesn't love to earn money?? There are two problems in my case. First, I am using the CAD software freely. It would be unfair to sell files made by a software I am using for free. Second, if I am going to charge someone, he/she has the right to receive after sales support. I must listen to complaints, provide advice,.... etc. While I love to help others, I have neither the energy nor the time to do so. Lastly, the feeling that I can support and please others is truly rewarding.
  7. I have this one in the pipeline. I didn't want to show it at this early stage. Again, not as big but will be free of charge.
  8. I have made this one for free. It is too small in comparison, but free of charge. https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/vintage-teardrop-camping-trailer Another one is currently in the pipeline.
  9. Thanks for the early warning of the fit problem (I know the Nomad/Del Ray kit is 20+ year old but I haven't built any of my kits yet). The colour combination is fantastic. However, although the interior looks excellent, as far as I remember the colours are not accurate. Walid
  10. "I just wanna cry" Join the club. My 1969 Chevelle is ruined. The paint was stripped off my 1968 Chevelle three times, and hopefully will not be a fourth time.
  11. I had a relatively successful start with my Revell '69 Chevelle, then a small mistake happened during polishing the clear coat. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/180497-revell-1969-chevelle-ss-an-unusual-colour/#comment-2722971 The repair ended with a disaster although I used the same colour out of the same jar to repair the damage, the colour didn't match. The worst thing had to be done: stripping a decaled and ford body. I contacted Revell for a replacement decal sheet. While waiting Revell to reply, i switched to the '68 kit. I loved the gold shade of an old rim paint I had. The results were terrible. Rough, grainy and dusty. After stripping the paint three times I decided enough with experiments, no more no name brands, no more colour mixing experiments (I am not good at that), no Tamiya acrylics for exterior. Simply revert back to what I could master so far. The paint is an automotive grade repair paint with no specific manufacturer's designation. decanted and airbrushed. It is more beige in reality than that silver shown here. It is not an exact match of Chevy ash gold, but with little imagination and in certain lighting conditions it looks close. First mist coat applied. I will probably mix it with some grey for the interior to offset the colour a bit. I know Chevelles had probably black interiors, but black interior are really boring in scale. Given the series of failures I had with this kit, I will go really sloooooww.
  12. Stripped the black and airbrushed decanted gold paint. It looked perfect in the spoon test, and by the first layers. However, later layers became grainy. I thinned the paint and reduced the air pressure but nothing helped.
  13. Frustrated by a paint disaster, I turned my attention to the '68 kit. I applied the primer successfully and wanted to lay a black coat under metallic paint. It became tooooo thick. ?. I will either strip and start allover again, or remain with the black, which I hate, and keep the decals without a protective clear layer. April is certainly not my lucky month.
  14. The screens do not last forever. They are fairly easy to replace and do not cost a fortune. You can revive the printer if you still have it.
  15. The good thing about such threads and their responses that they make me feel normal rather than weird.
  16. I will not argue about AMT quality, neither curse nor praise. I see it from a different perspective, that is, what are your choices if you are looking for a '55 Bel Air Sedan? What about a Nomad? Who offers an 1965 Bonneville? If I am interested in an Edsel, which kit I am going to buy? Whether we like AMT or not, the answer is clear: AMT
  17. Look at the roof.
  18. Vintage teardrop camping trailer.
  19. It is available on all major CAD sharing platforms free of charge. I am not sure if I can post a download link here. Search my name on grabcad or cults3d.
  20. FDM printers are not really for us model car builders. Resin printers are the right choice. I have two Anycubic printers, a Photon S and a Mono X. Below you can see what can be done with them.
  21. I started working on my Revell '69 Chevelle engine yesterday. The instructions specify orange in the American version and a mixture of red and orange in the German version. Both descriptions, and also internet photos, have nothing to do with my bottle of Model Master chevy engine red that has been lying on the shelf for years now. Did Cheverolet change the engine colour shades over the year? I know they used to have blue engine (straight six?), but I am talking about their red engines.
  22. I tried two brands of self adhesive chrome tapes over the weekend. I don't know what they are originally intended for. I guess HVAC duct tapes. One is made by 3M and the other is a no name brand from the cheap stuff store. Both look good, and probably better that BMF. The down side(s) are they adhere strongly to the surface, this impossible to use with painted bodies. They are too stiff and require high pressure to trim. The no name tape was slightly better but still useless as a modelling material, at least as a replacement for BMF in the scale car world. Maybe good for large scale aircraft models but definitely not for 1/24 window trim. Conclusion: I have to stay with BMF. The photograph bellow compares BMF (right) to chrome tape (left).
  23. The decals and BMF work are finished. Ready for a clear coat.
  24. Hesitated a long time about the interior. Finally, I decided to an interior colour matching the exterior. The result is not bad except: 1- I sprayed plastic parts (dash, center console....etc) dark grey first to give it a dull look. It didn't work. 2- I wanted a darker interior than the exterior. I got the opposite.
