  1. I picked these complete kits at the LLCMMC today for $10 a piece from a great seller. I'm happy!!
  2. Today at the LLCNNL here in Ca. I got Revell's '65 Chevelle, Revell's Mad Mudder 4x4, Testor's Coupster, Lindberg's '67 Old's 442, Revell's '67 Dodge Charger, Revell's '53 Chevy Bel Air, and Flashpoint resin's '68 Camaro turbo promod body!
  3. These parts do not look real at all, in fact, I will send you all my plastic hemi parts and take these off your hands ASAP!! Ha ha! Great work, you give guys like me hope that one day I will have a mill and lathe and can confidently make my own parts.
  4. Just received my Revell Anglia Street Rod bought off e-bay for $5 + $10 shipping ($15 total). Chrome was slightly faded but seller added a new set of wheels to the package. Nice!
  5. What I do/would do is google for pictures of the subject I am/was working on. When I was your age, I didn't have internet access to look for information. Here's an example; www.camaro-untoldsecrets.com/articles/crossram.htm I hope this helps.
  6. No further progress today.Sprayed the suspension pieces gloss black a couple of weeks ago. For some reason, the paint bubbled. I wet sanded them smooth and airbrushed them today. No luck, the paint bubbled again. it was as if there are tiny bubbles in the paint. (i let the paint "gas"out for a good week before I airbrushed the suspension. I broke out my trusty can of Easy Off. Will try again.I need a good base coat of gloss black for my Alclad chrome.
  7. I've seen models posted and I've been to shows where somebody that I DON'T know wants to show me his poorly done models (that he thinks are great) and I've been tempted to tell the truth but have bitten my tongue and not say anything at all, so I don't hurt the builders feelings. I think we need to build first and critique our own builds because it's easier to see somebody elses (building) faults but not realize that we have our own weak points whether it be painting, detailing in scale, or just a clean build. I've got over a dozen started projects that are stalled at the moment because I am not satisfied with my own building skills. I know I would be ashamed to post pictures of something that I wasn't especially proud of, but that's me, however if I did, I should expect some (constructive) criticism.
  8. I thought this was from the movie, Food of the Gods. ha ha.
  9. I've really enjoyed the in-progress pic's following this build. It takes this kind of imagination to light a fire under some of us builders. I've been wanting to do a dragster or an altered similar to this. Thanks for the ideas!
  10. Thanks for the info. I'll send some in-progress pic's of mine if I can get my camera to work.
  11. I just found a model of the Bad Medicine from Monogram due out this year! www.ehobbies.com/mon854937.html
  12. Great Build! Question; where did you get the wheels and tires for the 1/25 Deora?
  13. Yeah, but it sure is fun though isn't it? I think browsing Ebay and collecting kits and supplies is a hobby in itself.
  14. I was in a Michael's a while back and saw some of those Camaro's in a mark-down bin for $5.00 each. I wondered where those kits came from since I never saw that many Camaros on the shelf. I didn't buy any but I sure wish I had. Thanks for the info.
  15. I will throw most if it away but keep the longer straight pieces for emergency situations. I will sometimes clip a piece that resembles an "L" shape for stirring paint that has settled over time. I just twist it back and forth with my fingers for controlled mixing.
  16. My problem is I buy with the intent to build but it seems that I spend more time looking for models and supplies to buy and don't spend half that time building. The good thing is I have lots of discontinued models but the bad thing is I don't want to open them for that same reason.
  17. Out of curiosity, when you build for others, do you feel a sense of pressure having to complete a model for someone else? I know the feeling of satisfaction when you hand the model over to the new owner because I've suprised some friends with a model of their actual vehicle.
  18. That sounds like my situation. Although I am working on a T'rantula, a Ramcharger's dragster w/ a modified '34 shell (looks like an altered now), a Deora, a Pro Street '57 Chevy, a Pro Touring '65 Chevelle, a Boot Hill Express, a Rat Packer Chevy II, and an attempt at a Rat Rod. I guess that I need to focus on one project at a time but I have so many ideas for other models.
  19. I bought 6 different sizes of brass and aluminum tubing for scratch-building, some Tamiya Surface Primer, a can of Testor's Lime Fire Lacquer Paint, 3 AMT's Hippie Hemi's, and a MPC Chuck Miller Fire Truck. I also picked up 2 Revell Chi-Town Hustler Funny Car's a couple of days earlier in the week.
  20. I was looking at some of the postings and saw how many builders actually finished building their models. I have many unfinished projects sitting on my desk and the only one I actually completed this year was the Pie Wagon. Then I looked at the stacks of models and supplies I picked up this year and the amount is staggering not to mention how much money was spent. I was wondering how many builders fit my catagory or am I a modeling oddity? Thanks!
  21. Very nice. One of these days I'm going to finish mine! Thanks for the incentive.
  22. Rear end looks like a newer style Mini-Cooper. I would break the car down to it's obvious shapes and see if there are models that exist with these shapes before attempting something like this. From the looks of it, I think everyone's comments are right on the money for the ideas you'll need.
