My brother in law gave me a stack of old car mags today, I never realized how big modeling was back then, some of the issues are half on models and half on 1/1s.

Help with PE parts
sobpinstriping replied to fastbackfiero's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Im no expert on pe (the only pe I have used was from the revell midget) but I used supeglue on the tip of a toothpick, and to cut it off of the tree I put a piece of tape on the back side (to keep it from flying away) and just used a number 11 exacto blade and cut it off. hope that helps. -

before I opened up the kit I was thinkin it was kinda heavy, I thought it was odd when I opened the kit to see all that extra paper. -
Scale auto renaissance?
sobpinstriping replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The only kit I would love to see is a 65 or 66 ford f-100, no step side an long bed would be cool but a swb would be cool. -
That, sir is the bee's knee's!!!!!!

That is a excellent point; the bartender is going to server the barfly before the tourist because the barfly will be back tomorrow and the day after and the day after.... so they know they have a steady market for older cars because they have sold well for so many years and they figure they don't want to lose the core builders so they put out more new or re issues of subjects they know will sell for sure. I'am very happy with the amount of new kits coming out, now if they would put out the tweedy pie like they said they were. Does anyone know what happened to that? -

I suppose I'm a younger modeler, being 28 and all, but all of the cars I like to build came out way before I was born and I'm real happy they are releasing the olds and other non gm products. So I hope they keep releasing new hot rods and customs because I will keep buying them. -

What's Your Achilles Heel?
sobpinstriping replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I tend to get in a rush towards the end of a model because I just want to see it done and of course I will get glue on the paint or mess up a decal. So all the work I did to make a good paint job goes down the toilet. -
Call out to all Miget builders
sobpinstriping replied to walt francis's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I just took a drill bit and twisted it in by hand and had no problem, I wouldn't dream of taking anything with a motor anywhere near that kit, so many fragile parts. -

I also drilled them out with a slightly larger bit and they went in snug, It took me a while to figure it out because the first one I put on went in just fine.
