clayton replied to mardtrp's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Same here,Think well going too do this and that then my patience runs out the door. Also having trouble with the fine detail now a day's. -
Both are Revell 359's. how ever long the sleeper is add that much to the Frame and keep in mind the pin on the trailer/how much over hang your going to have from the 5th wheel too the back of sleeper.I think I went by a 36" setting. did not think if it on the brown one.Now when I use a trailer Have too move the pin foreword about 0.5MM or so.

FORD 1950 COE "wrecker" true fire
clayton replied to CUSTOMBOY's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Back in the 50's 60's or so when folks started painting flames on the cars to look like fire/flames. http://www.rodandcustommagazine.com/thehistoryof/55539/index.html also there is a ghost flames that is were the flames and the back ground color are just about the same and how you are looking at the body(now you see it now you don't)ghost flames. Mike Lavallee he does what is called True Fire. IF you look at a real fire there are lots of colors of blues, reds yellows and orange's and every now and then a some green's,depending on what you burning. -

Thanks! Guess you can say I been working on the trailer for a year or so.UN box it look at it and box it up gain. started off going one way got side tracked and ended up with this. That would be a fun build, start with the W/Star, from what I see some of there trucks have large hub's on the drivers that would be the hard part then trying to find a close color. As I can see using the flatbed would work for a base. -
Started the trailer around Thanksgiving/Christmas.The trailer is 90 too 95% scratch built from flat sheet. Some what based on the Pitts trailers used around here in the South East(States). The truck is the Revell KW(Aussy KW). Started it abut 4 years ago and it has been boxed up ever since until today. Paint is Dupli Color Grabber Green, hunter green and yellow? Cab guard from bug screen and flat sheet. Since the photos I added the center axle. Well what do ya think?

Pete 353
clayton replied to The Modeling Hermit's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
MY idea would be remove sleeper shorten the frame a tad. spoke rims or steel .Steel on rear spoke on steer. butterfly the hood. fenders from STS if they have them?try the Auto car fenders? grill guard from Auto kit. Fuel tanks from AMT. For what you doing the Revell tanks would look kinda big. Chrome??Humm not a lot,More like a work mule that don't mind a little dirt under the nails. This is my idea have not got too it yet maybe one day. -
Dechroming parts
clayton replied to cdnmodman's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
OR oven cleaner for about 20 min wash and poof your done. -
Yeah, I forgot that one.
-
Sounds like the one with the blue cab on box art(AMT/Ertle). I think it is the same kit as the BJ and the Bear kit. it is a good kit,I got one. The Bj kit came out rite after the show(red and white cab). Then Amt did a re-pop a few year ago with the blue cab(I think)I under stand it is the same kit.
