Question on Glue Bombs
clayton replied to Jim B's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
DID you let the parts set about a week or so and see what happens. -
I am going to say thanks to every one for the great remarks and keep a eye out for the next one (coming soon). OK,OK, here is a peak of whats coming up. The cab on the rite is the brown/gold.Both kits were dipped in cleaner, holes filled sanded, smoothed out the cabs from were a builder must have used a tube of glue on every thing.Even had to buff the one the glass inserts it was eat up with glue.

Thanks,I got the idea from you. it did not have any so I made them from wire and flat sheet,by using the 359 mirrors as a template (I winging it)

I think they are, over the weekend I was looking on one of the hobby web sites that I use and the due date is around Nov/Dec(I think). I hope so would like to have a few more, with a little thinking these old kits don't look bad.

Question on Glue Bombs
clayton replied to Jim B's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
that stuff sure don't I put some in a Coke can one day the next day not only was the paint gone but the can as well. what a mess. And most resin parts don't work with the cleaner will turn into a ball of gum. Most of the time I let mine set a few day's (a week or so) and they fall rite apart. -
same here, I used some kind of super glue and can't get it off.so it staying.
-
I saved both of them the other I'm not ready to show and tell yet( oops I did) it was on truck modeler back in the fall,it's not done need lots of work. On this one it started off as a road truck then I found a wood mill(Georgia Paper) that was still using the old trucks in the fleet. About 3 weeks later I mad a trip just for photos and see if I could get a paint code,to bad the mill close up for good and the trucks were sold off. The mill color was a lime green. Paint the model I found one on hanks site it was black and silver I just did not care for that so brown and gold it is.
-
let me see, I know there were 2 old IH siting around here back in the spring. One was at the old mill house the other was about 15 miles from here I do not think I can get too it. The State close that road about 4 months ago to rebuild the bridge,I don't remember if it was on this side or the other. Maybe I can the with of each bar then get the center off that.

this is one of 2 kits I got off eBay a a few years ago. Had to soak it cleaner fore a week then fill and sand the frame and cab, it was a glue BOMB!!!!need flap's and guard going with it will be the log trailer. I know the bumper is way too wide that was a goof up in the build. The first idea was a over the road truck that got side tracked. clayton

I got this off eBay about 2 years ago as a junk box, T500 with soda pop green glass and with that painted it two tone green Jade and alpine. Decals were made by Mag decals. The trailer is the expandable flatbed box stock. Load is pipe made from paper rolls. Office is made of poster Bord. Tie down's are ribbon from the loco craft shop, winch from aluminum sheet. Oh! the Road side park painted sweet gum balls moss rock from the drive way. fence is twig's and pop stick cut too fit. clayton

priming / sanding
clayton replied to cowboysevens's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
theirs the trouble MM paint, I stopped using that years ago now I use Duplicolor primer and paint have not any trouble since unless its too hot 90,100+ paint drys to fast turns into a power or too cold under 50 I think, paint comes out too thick.Think I have that down pat. Try Duplicolor and see how you like. -

Peterbilt 351 Resin
clayton replied to airlessride's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
351 grille IS the radiator,Hummm I kinda had that idea. any idea on how too do that(make a radiator into a grill). I got a Silver State maybe I could copy from him. when I was little we had a truck that had shutter's and I would get fusses at for playing with them all the time.
