I managed to mock up a couple of lights shades. Decided to go with 8 lights, two between each cross beam. I was originally going to attach this to the beams but now their going to be hanging from the ceiling joist, which means they have to go on next. With time permitting things could move along here pretty good in the up coming days. Tested the lamp shades using grain o wheat bulbs and found they were too bright, so I ordered grain o rice bulbs. These shades of course will be weathered to look thirty years old when I do the final install. I noticed through researching these that there are a dozen different shades of green that were used by various manufacturers. These appear to be a little dark for Ivanhoe but I think I'll stick with the color.

...thanks Roger, I have Taig lathe and I'm very happy with it. I'm still working with it and have a lot to learn. It's one of the best tool investments I've ever made. ..the work piece I used for the lamps is a 3/4" resin plug or round stock I guess you'd call it. I made a mold of different size wood dowels and make these plugs as I need them. A 3/4" dowel is about 18"s in 1/25 scale. After some research on the light shades it looks like the 16" was the most common, so that's the size of the ones I made.

..nice work Lanny! Everything looks like it belongs there, and your scratch built parts look fantastic!

...well I finally got the molds made and so far so good on the copies. Plan is to wire up a couple and see how they look, then decide on how many to use. Once these are in place I can start on the ceiling joists and upper flooring. These light shades have inspired me to get back at this.....

Ian, I use a Nikon Coolpix S630. 12 megapixels with 7x zoom. It's a few years old but does a real nice job in close-up mode.

WOW, how did I miss this, too cool Tony...love all the details!!

....very nice Carl, you can tell you put a lot of thought into this. Everything about it is 'spot on'!! Congratulations on a dio well done!

....looking good Nick, look forward to seeing more of it......

..thanks Ron, I appreciate that. I hope you like the rat rod brake drums, their a good seller for me. The nice thing about them is they can be sanded to just about any thickness you need, or used just as they are.

..those are just too cool Sam! It actually gave me the idea of using one in my garage dio. But instead of the finish washer base, I'll mount it on an old wheel rim. That way it won't look out of place in a converted warehouse.....

..thanks Virgil and Seb, I'm hoping that once I get some made it'll give me some incentive to get back after this this!

..thanks Danno and George, I been wanting to redo these for awhile now, pretty happy with the way they turned out.....

...a Mini Maglight(brand name) is a small flash light. It takes 2 AA batteries and is pretty bright. ..the trick here would be the channeling of light into the sprue, and to have the right effect, the light would have to be pretty bright. The light source would have to be hidden and/or sealed with the sprue coming almost in contact with the bulb. You'll definitely have to play around with this but it does show some great possibilities!

..this might be something to experiment with.....I took a section of clear plastic sprue, poked it through some cardboard to channel the light. Used a Mini Mag light from the back side. The fixture is just a piece of white card stock to see if it would reflect at all. You might have to play around some more with it but who know what you might come up with.

Thanks Tony, yes I did turn it on a lathe. Just got it about 3 weeks ago. Best tool investment I ever made. If I can get a good mold of this I will add it to my product line. Let ya know when I get it done.

..got a couple new items made. Got a clutch package that I posted in the resin section and a redesigned brake shoe assembly. This one is a little more accurate and now comes with a spindle for the front set. I also re-did the axle hubs so they would fit the spindle......the brake shoe assemblies don't come with the springs but their not hard to make, just some brass wire wrapped around a needle then painted.

..got a small up date....because I wasn't able to find the light shades I wanted, decided to make my own. ..it's a scale 16" industrial light shade used a lot in factories and warehouses. It's based on the popular Ivanhoe shades of the day. Since I need between 9 and 12 of these, I'm making a mold for it. Once the lighting is figured out I can get the ceiling and upper floor done.

...Hmmmm....1/25 scale broomstick...I'll get right on it!!
-
...thanks fellas, appreciate ya taking the time to comment. I like making these items you rarely see in kits or are hard to find. Casey, you mentioned an alignment tool. completely forgot about that!

Thanks guys, I appreciate your positive comments and input! I really enjoy this aspect of our hobby and grateful to be associated with guys like Jeffb, Kris Morgan. And a special 'Thank You' to Ryan Silva, who has been a tremendous help to me. I would not be at this stage without his help! ....no problem George, I'll bring your axle set and a set of these too. ..bobbyg, I should have these available on my web site by mid-week. Have some tweaking to do and they should be ready to go....

For those modelers who like to show their engines out of the vehicle, maybe in a garage scene, junkyard setting or next to a display car, I've come up with some rarely seen detail items. It's a 4 piece 10:1/2" clutch package. It includes a flywheel, pressure plate, clutch disc and a friction ring. These 4 pieces gives one several display options. You can mount the flywheel to the motor(using hex rod to make bolt heads)and leave off the pressure plate and clutch disc. Or add the pressure plate to the flywheel also. The clutch disc won't go between the flywheel and the pressure plate for obvious reasons, but was made for a bench top or floor display. For example a engine/trany rebuild scene in a shop or garage. The friction ring I call it is for the back of the pressure plate, that too is for a "part off" display. Thought these might be some nice detail items, please let me know what you guys think. Plan on added them to my product line, so your thoughts and input would be greatly appreciated!
