  1. This looks great Tony, great use of steel, brick and wood. Can't wait to see the end results......
  2. I personally think their worth the money, (that is if you don't have to bid through the roof for them). I did these on an Edsel build and thought they enhanced the model quite well. I also had good results by using Model Master Flat Clear Acrylic. The parts stayed in place and dried with no signs of adhesive.....in the pic of the dash board I used rings around the gauges and the ignition...

Great looking dio Tony, and what a nice collection of turn of the century cars! Keep us posted, not too many people modeling this scale and time period.
  4. ...absolutly amazing Virgil! Love watching and learning from your work!

Thanks Erik and Tony, Hoping to get back to this after the holidays. Between the resin work and other projects I haven't found the time for it. Sad thing is I've been saying "after this" and "after that" for three months now!
  6. ..as always Virgil, it's such a treat and learning experience to watch you work!!
  7. That turned out great Mercman, this will be a pretty cool looking scene when finished! Keep after it!!
  8. ..this may help with the fill and vent holes. Everybody does this their own way I suppose but this is what I try to do. I try to thing of resin as water going through plumbing. You what to direct the flow. When you design your mold, imagine the resin going in and the air going out. You have to set it up so all the air can escape. Gravity is at work here too. Here's a couple of simple 2 piece molds. Notice in the second pic I put an extra vent tube in the 'Y' pipe.
  9. ..sounds good Ian. I have the master made for the 'hollow' finned drums ready and hope to have the mold done in the next day or two. Everything else I have in stock.
  10. Sorry for my late response Ian, I was out of town for the holiday. To answer your question, when it comes to parts like mine, with all the various sizes there are, the difference between 1/24 and 1/25 is very minimal. You should have no problem using them in either scale.
  11. Thank you Len, I really appreciate your comments!, and can't wait to see what your building. Thanks George, I'm glad I came to the club meeting, appreciate your kindness and showing me around. Look forward to being a member and getting to know everybody. I know I could learn a lot there!
  12. For those of you who would like some extra detailing options, I currently make brake drums(with studs & hollow), brake shoes, brake shoe assemblies, stud plates with axles and front hubs, both complete with studs. If interested, check out my web site...... .... Scenes Unlimited ...Thanks for looking!
  13. ..you could also try the little "nubbuals"(not sure what their called) that real tires have on them when there new. They come in a variety of sizes too, looks pretty convincing if you get the right size........
  14. Hi Ian, my e-bay name is dioman54, but it would be less expensive on my web site. I have to raise prices on e-bay to cover all the fee's involved. I use e-bay once or twice a month for a few day because or the exposure, can't beat it for that. Great way to get your name out there!
  15. Hi Ian, if your interested in brake drums I make some solid drums with studs and also hollow drums. I'm currently out of the hollow drums because of a sale I had on e-bay but should have some more in a day or two. I also make a few other detail parts, here's a link to my web site..... www.scenesunltd.com
  16. ... you definitely have the talent and now how to build it, I guess it's comes down to do you what to take the time to build it or buy it and spend your time setting it up and detailing the scene......which ever way you go I know it'll turn out great!
  17. ..hey Kevin, where is it being held and what are the time's?, might be able to make it.....
  18. WOW, this looks fantastic Manny, very impressive to say the least!

..thnaks James, I hope someday you get to go to Galway, it was a great experience, and for you it would be even more so I'm sure. ...thanks Mark, I can't wait to get back into to this again! ...thanks Bradley, your guess was correct. I built model cars till I got to high school, then I turned my interests to more important issues like girls and muscle cars. After I got married I started into model railroading, did that for about 10 years or so. Every now and then I get the urge to break out the RR stuff but don't, having too much fun with this again!..lol
  20. ...looking good Mercman, always enjoy watching your builds!
  21. ...great addition to a great dio! You did a fantastic job on this Ron!!

Thanks Greg and decsgarages, it's a bummer when life sneaks in and interrupts things for sure but we're getting settled in now and I hope to get back in the grove here soon. Decsgarages, we just got back from your neck of the woods this past Saturday. My daughter got married in Galway. We stayed in some really nice cottage's just outside of Oughterard. First time in Ireland and loved it! Didn't get as much play time as I'd hoped, and was unable to make it to Dublin, but look forward to it next time I'm there.
  23. ..no problem, and believe me if you plan on putting the nuts and bolts together you'll be so glad you got those socket wrenches!
  24. ..ok...here's a couple of pics with the nuts and one with a pencil added. In the pics are the 1.1mm and the 1.0mm. Remember that Scale Hardware has two smaller sizes, the 0.5mm and the 0.8mm.................
  25. Matt, here's a couple of pics of the sizes I have. In the first pic I've got them on the fuel tank of a 1/25 59' Cadillac for size reference. Starting on the left is Scale Hardware's 0.8 then the 1.0 then the 1.1mm. I don't know if you've used these before but if you haven't and you plan on it, do yourself a huge favor and buy the socket wrenches! Makes dealing with these tiny nuts and bolts a lot easier. Hope this helps........
