I too thought that the Gibson engines are too large. I was going to use one in my current 55 Chevy project, but opted for an engine that came in the Sportsman kit instead. The blower assembly is almost as large as the driver would be in the car. Don't get me wrong though, it does look great, and the detail is second to none. Nice work!!!

Bryan It will not hurt to try. They replaced my bad molded tires. All they can do is say "no". One other thing you might want to try, if Revell does not work out. Check out some model sites, like Slixx decals. They carry a lot more products besides decals, like resin parts, tires, wheels, etc.

Now there's a model you don't see too often....Very nice build. I have a soft spot for the older "big" Fords and Chevrolets.

I think it looks beautiful!!! Paint, foiling, and period correct Cragars...Nice!!
-
Very, very nice!!! I kinda like it with the primer. Looks tough!!!

Thank you for the kind words..Niko. This is my third time foiling. I learn something every time I build, and next time I will dull the interior a bit....most likely on my 62 Catalina, that is almost ready to assemble. I have my eye on that Impala too. When I joined this great site, I read the full build that two members on here built both versions. Good read!!! Also, there was a write up on the Impala in Scale Auto Mag.

I spoke to Charlie on the phone the other night. Really nice guy. I just sent an order out for some braided line, and fittings, for my current project.

Hi Cato, thanks for the compliment. I 100% agree with what you said about the engines, but it was just too large for what I wanted. Then the alignment issues too. Here is where it was going when the project started.... Maybe the Gibsons are 1/24, as to a 1/25 scale??? I don't think it would be any different between the scale sizes, but maybe it is.

This is one of my recent builds. A Red on red Bel air 409. Thanks for looking.

Did some paint today. Went with Tamiya Pure White #TS-26, and Racing Blue #TS-51. Will need to buy some more BMF, if the supplied trim does not look right. BTW, does anyone have a drivers side chrome quarter panel molding for this Monogram body. Looked all over for it, but its gone. (posted on the "wanted" board as well). Just waiting for Pro Tech stuff now.

Don What exactly is Novus 2. I never heard of it. I just finished a two tone, Tamiya lacquer painting on a 55 Chevy, and would like to remove the goo from the finish, where the tape was. The job came out way better than I had expected, and I dont want to ruin the finish using anything harsh. Thank you....

I only wish they accepted Paypal, or a credit card though.....

Its been a little while since I posted an update. Been working, and I have been just modeling a bit every now and then. Not to mention, I have a few other cars I am building also. The 55 will still not be completed for several more weeks, or so. I need to buy some braided fuel lines and fittings, oil hoses, and seat belts, from Pro Tech, and I still did not even get the check in the mail. I tried the decal seat belt, but decided not to do that...looks cheap. I dug out another body from my stash, to avoid the ugly cut cowl. Not really scratch built or anything...just stretched the frame, and interior a bit to get it to look right. Thanks for the previous advice. Here is whats done so far....

Yea, Dave, there is a reissue of the AMT ERTL 67 Pro Street Chevelle. I have one in my stash. Its a maroon car on the box, and its a real nice kit. Its called AMT Buyers Choice. Besides the the tail lights and headers in the Revell kit, I personally do not care for the rear tires either. Very super soft tires, with these weird lips that go around the circumference of the rims, that mount inside the tire. Another kit that would be worth mentioning, is the AMT 70 Coronet Super Bee Pro Street.

Yes...I agree. I sometimes wonder why the skill levels are even there. I had built kits that were level 3, that, IMO were not that challenging. On the other hand, this kit is a level 2, and I must admit it is a bit challenging.
-
Nice build so far. I am using this kit with a regular 55 body, for a Pro Street build. I was wondering if you are happy with the rear tire mold? I had a real bad set, and got in touch with Revell, and got two new ones. Yours are not as bad as mine, but, I figured I would mention it to you. These were mine.

A "Little" freshening? I wish it was my car, and I was the one to have the freshening task.....Beautiful build!! The rust and wear looks very realistic! Nice old Poncho.

Can not wait till the site is up for ordering. Some really nice stuff on there!!
-
Very nice build!! BTW, what did you do to the engine?? Alclad??
-
Man that engine looks FANTASTIC....Looks very real!!!!!!!!

The leftover trees have a too large of a diameter, IHMO....You can use Evergreen 1/16 diameter, with a heat gun to bend it, and some Ambroid Pro Weld to keep the joints together.

What is with ebay?
Brutalform replied to car lover 1996's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just as you have stated, I think some people do "tear" the kits just to make money....but I really think a lot of them are just trying to get some money back on the kits they had used for parts, bodies, chassis...etc. A lot of people have salvaged kits, that can probably make a complete kit, by just buying a body or chassis. The only time they will get a ridiculous price for something, is if someone is willing to pay for it. -
Michaels coupons
Brutalform replied to crazyjim's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just bought the Revell Yenko Nova, and saved 40%. Ended up paying like $15.00 for it. Then as I checked out got another 40% off coupon for another visit, and bought a 70 Chevelle, for like $11.00. Just wished they would carry more stuff than just Revell. Ever since the Revell stuff is from China, I dont like it as much. Just waiting to get my hands on the 66 Impala...if they ever get it in at Michaels. -
Thanks for the helpful replies everyone!!
