1961 Rambler American Sedan...A resto of an old Johan kit
BHarrison replied to BHarrison's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Its Rustoleum Texture paint. Its alot less prominent once the interior is in the car. It ends up looking like Man Made Ultra Suede which is popular in 1:1 rods right now. -

Thanks. Its a piece of the Model Car Garage stuff I cut to fit. -
Alan - The front and rear seats are modified seats from the 66 Chevelle wagon. The valve covers are from the R/M 37 Ford kits but I removed the ribs from the top. I added the aluminum pieces.

Completed the interior today.... Also got the Alclad on the bumpers and grille along with the photoetch insert installed...... -
Its not a Bandit Resins body. I believe its a Time Machine Resin body before they went out. They were in the Nashville area and I know this one came from there. Headers are from the R/M 37 Ford kits

This is a new project I have been working on. Its a resin 1966 Chevy II 100 Sedan. It uses the AMT Pro Street Chassis, AMT Stock interior with bench seat and matching rear seat added, Aluminum exhaust and driveshaft, Gobi Beige basecoat/clearcoat ( which has been rubbed out since these pics), and Billet Specialties "Stiletto" wheels from a diecast. Thanks for looking.....more pics soon.....

Hey guys! I came back to post more progress pics and realized that I had zapped my thread when I did a cleanup of my photobucket. I got the car polished out this week, the bumpers are curing in the black phase of getting Alclad, and the interior is painted and has begun assembly. Thanks for looking! Before.... Now..... Paint is polished out.... and the interior is made up, mocked up, and started to be painted up.... -
Easiest resin kit I have ever built. The body is as thin as plastic and only required a couple of block standings to get it slick and level! Its a complete kit requiring no donor parts at all and it has really great chrome that includes accurate dog dish hubcaps with the correct Buick script! Get one soon!

Here are some pics of the interior in progress.... -
Thanks for all the comments guys. I wanted the car to have the look of the 1:1 airbagged cars we see at Goodguys and NSRA shows. The big body GM cars are really popular right now for doing a stock ride just airbagged with big inch wheels.

Super cool piece! I've bashed a few of those promos up and down a Slot Car Dragstrip over the years. Nice detail work!

Great looking and very believable! Looks like you might actuall see it at a 1:1 truck show or in Truckin or Sport Trucks magazine. Nice work! Paint is top notch! -
Just finished this one today and I am moving it to this section from the Workbench section. Its a 1959 Buick LeSabre resin kit by Promolite. Its Fawn Metallic basecoat/clearcoat with Matching gold tones inside. It has MV Lenses, Pegasus wheels, Tons of Bare Metal Foil and the mods necessary to get the wheels under it. Other than that its pretty much as it came from Promolite. Thanks for looking!

The wheels are from a Maisto die cast and they are Billet Specialties "Fuelie". They scale out at 20"/22" approximately. Thanks for the comments guys I really appreciate it very much! -

Here are some pics of the grille and bumpers and the ride height has been set.... -
This is the 1961 Rambler I have been working on. I bought it online last month. Its been stripped, a few mild body mods, interior is getting highly modified for the rear wheel wells and the full length console. The bumpers have been smoothed down and their bumper guards removed. The grille is getting a photoetched insert and the body has been polished down some for the clear coat to be shot as soon as weather permits. Thanks for looking and have a blessed day! This is where I started a little over a week ago.... Here it is now.... More pics once I get the interior roughed in and the clearcoat on....stay tuned.....

This is my current build. Its the Promolite Resins 1959 Buick LeSabre kit. Its getting full interior and BMF detailing. The stance wont be quite this low once finished. Color is Fawn Metallic and will be getting clearcoat. THanks for looking!

Thanks Bob. I am just going to make the sides five equal pieces and maybe block sand across the joints before paint. I am using .080 and in two layers so I can offset the joints. I have been looking at the trailers at races for a while now and some of them have smooth sides but also have overlapping pices that are hardly noticeable once the wrap is in place. I will be happy enough if I have some cracks as long as they are neat and level. I do want to use Featherlite's measurements though. As far as the trucks paint scheme, I am ptobably going to do either a solid black cab and visor or orange with white vintage stripes that go onto the catwalk back to the fifth wheel and also across the full fenders.
