I just completed this one. I had posted some in progress pics in the workbench section a while back. It an old Johan Kit with some subtle body mods, scratchbuilt billet grille, MV Lenses and an updated interior. Pegasus Hellas wheels and machined Gas Cap. Color is Testors Laquer Phoenisian Yellow and Olive Interior.

Here is the completed version of the truck I posted in workbench a month or so ago. Its a RM 99 Silverado with a RM Escalade front clip. It has Testors Italian Red base with HOK Flames. Scratchbuilt console that carries the flame from the hood through the interior and out onto the bed cover. Its first show is in KY this weekend.

1999 Tahoe 4 Door Custom
BHarrison replied to BHarrison's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Go to workbench section and you can see the 2 door I am building ..... -
I was re-organizing my Photobucket tonite and came across this build from a few years back. It a slammer model of a 1951 Nash Delivery. It has Pegasus wheels (trust me they are under there), Tamiya paint and clear, and MV Lenses throughout. This was just a quick build I did because I liked the little body but it didn't include an interior. The pics could be better. They weren't made with the camera I use now.

I broke the link on this one when I re-organized my photobucket. I have reposted the first pic and added one with the basecoat color on it. It is HOK Tangelo Pearl over Orion Silver base. It has since been cleared with PPG Clear and I will post more pics asap. These are pics of the tiny Moon tank for the front and smoothie wheels I machined for it. The pic is deceiving from that angle. The wheels are actually 2 bigs and 2 littles not three bigs and one little.... -
This is a project I am getting ready to paint next week. Its a 1999 Chevy Tahoe 2 door I created using the AMT Tahoe 4 door. It was a pretty easy conversion. This project is getting a Modern Custom truck treatment with a low stance and HOK paint. Its also getting a MAS billet grille. Its going to be a curbside and I will be posting interior pics soon as well. Only one or two more blockings and it gets color!

Does it involve squeezing bananas while blindfolded? or "thank you sir, may I hav another?"

Thanks for the comments. The houndstooth is upholstery patterns from scale Motorsports and the chambered exhaust is from the kit.

Nice job and great pics! Looks like you drove out to a construction site to "handle some business ". I can almost hear Sinatra coming out of my speakers!

Since the dimensions are the same on the truck and sedan, and yeah the cab really does look that choppy in the back lol, I used an ARII 1/32 Scale 61 Datsun Sedan to build this. The NL320 unibody didn't come out until 62 but I always said I would run a 61 front clip on a 1:1 project so I made mine out of a 61. That's the great thing about plastic! No vin and there were probably more of these kits produced than there were real trucks in the states at around only 1000 NL320's imported annually in the 60's. I also left the slimmer more flowing Sedan tailights in place too. This would also be something I would do to a real one since the truck tailights are next to impossible to find and these look better anyway. -
This is a model of the RARE Datsun NL320 Unibody pickup. It is built from a 61 Datsun 4 door sedan. It is getting turned aluminum smoothie billet wheels, Moon tank, headlight bezels with MV Lenses, hand formed Aluminum bumperettes (with a gap for the Moon tank up front and the tag on the rear), HOK paint and full detailed interior with Scale Motorsport upholstery patterns. I am going for a street rod style done like the Moon Japan stuff. Body work is going to be finished today and should have color by Sunday or Monday. I am trying to have this one done by Atlanta.

As a child I remember our Citation, a yellow sedan with black interior,AM radio and no A/C. It was a 4 speed in which 3rd was 1:1 and 4th was overdrive. I will certainly be following this build!

How to simulate valour seats and vinyl seats

I like the Suede paint myself for a contempory style interior where they are starting to use a rougher texture suede. In a rod with alot of slick painted interior pieces I like the Krylon Suede Paint. I also like to use the Light Krylon colors then airbrush the color that I need over it using only the light Krylon to gain texture. I have some Krylon examples below -
Really sharp piece. I am a Chevy person myself but the Mopars hold a special place for me too. I think a white Mopar interior just has a certain sheen about it and you have nailed it spot on! Great piece! the 1:25 version sure is better than that ol 1:24 one we dealt with all those years isn't it!
