  1. Aftermarket aluminum mufflers and Polished Aluminum tubing
  2. I have been working on this case to transport my models to the contests. I was tired of carrying three or four cases around and wanted one case for all of it. It holds 8 cars and their displays. The doors have racks for glue, bottles, etc. I had built one much larger for my slot dragsters so I had much of the stuff I needed for this one.
  3. These are some shots of the 1962 Impala I have been working on this month also. I meant to have it ready for Atlanta but its not going to make it. I wanted it to look like the Impalas in the Goodguys Gazette. Its getting the smoothed underhood, Air Ride stance, 18"/20" wheels etc. THe body is also painted and cleared and curing as we speak.
  4. This is a quickie curbside I have wanted to do for a while now. I found this Promo on "Internet Auction Site" and have been messing with it the last week or two. I have made a ton of subtle body mods including a total reshape of the transition between the door and qtr panel fin area. The bumpers have been smoothed and headlights drilled for MV Headlights - they will get a re-chrome. I turned the 18"/20" factory style wheels myself from aluminum and also turned and polished the dog dish hubcaps. I have just black sharpie colored them to mockup the wheels in black so their finish in these pics isn't as smooth as paint. The beige interior inserts are getting a black plaid pattern and a black outline. I have since Painted and cleared the body and it is curing.
  5. Great looking car. I have followed this one along for a while now. You know ol BHarrison was gonna like this one being that I like the "off the beaten path" stuff. Great job Marc
  6. Cool Vette! I like to see true accuracy in the early Factory Stock builds. Especially when its a year or options seldom seen. Again, cool piece! BH
  7. Thanks for the comments. We have discussed the drip rail on several occasions. Being that we are gonna mimic the 1:1 project we have been considering for him, we may opt to leave it off. I bent up a mock drip rail for comparison to show him how to build one. We have studied both with and without in 1:1 and came to the conclusion that many people don't even realize they made a sedan with a door and without the drip rail, it really adds to the mystery. For now though, he is up in the air whether he wants to add it on the model. The fiberglass body company in 1:1 we talked to about the real version has a simple "bump" drip rail like most fiberglass bodies (and much like the door ones on the R/M body) versus the true "channel" of the drip rail on a steel delivery. This has also been a way of showing him how to verify info and search reference materials for accuracy. It just keeps getting better all the time for this project ...lol Sorry about your mom, mine is under constant tests and checkups for re-occurring lymphoma/breast cancer. We live with the possibility of losing her every test appointment.
  8. Thanks for the comments. The sides will be left open hence " flower car". Ford actually built a few like this and dad has been talking about building a 1:1 car just like it. I'm hoping he sticks with it he seems to be picking it up really quickly.
  9. Thanks for the comments gbk! The winters came from the Sprint Car kits from a few years back. The body I use is from Jimmy Flintstone. He has two bodies very similar. One has a track nose and the other has a narrow blade type nose. The rest of the two bodies is the same and I chose which one based on which nose I need it to have. Its just going to be a curbide like the last one I built.
  10. It has been about 30 years. I would take the tools and make a cut or a scribe then give it to him and basically just did enough to show him how but make sure that he did the work. I am not about doing the work for him ya know? I want him to still be able to enter it as his. He is a little worried about getting into the fine detail wiring and the paint/body work.
  11. I have posted on here before, a Speedstar project I did in the current style (HOK Blue with flames and big wheels with leather style interior) but I have always wanted to go back and do some of the other verisons of the Speedstar line made popular by 1:1 builder Bobby Allloway and Rat's Glass. One of the versions I wanted to do was the Trackstar which was a track-nosed version of the Speedstar Coupe. I wanted to merge the new contemporary style with the Muroc dry lakes look of the 40's using alot of real aluminum machined parts, some vintage styling cues, as well as a more authentic lakes style interior. I have so far made the mods necessary to the body to mimic the Speedstar and have made my own mods to the track nose. I have so far machined 4 "Buick Style" big brake drums but smooth for a more contemporary look, made front radius arms "drilled", rear trailing arms "also drilled", made an aluminum front drop axle but tubular as opposed to the I beam of the 40's. I have had rear hoops machined by MAS to mate up Pegasus centers to a 22" taller narrower style tire than is usually found on the rear of these cars. I also used a quick change Winters center section for the rearend with an aluminum tube axle. Color is to be a really dark Metallic Green with saddle colored interior with bare aluminum on the doors and seats. Now for the pics.... An early mockup pic.... With front radius arms installed.... Front suspension and brake drums... Rear suspension/diff mockup... The suspension pieces are made to mimic the "Perfection" line of CNC'd parts by Johnson's Hot Rod Shop the are old style but with current processes to build and attachment points. More pics this week sometime....
  12. This is the beginning of some progress on a project I have started with my dad. He is gettin back into building some cars after a LOOONNG while out of the hobby. It all started when I took him to a contest or two this year. We are doing this project together so he can learn some techniques. I show him how and he performs the mods. Its going to be a traditional style build with a 409 Chevy engine and Halibrand wheels. Paint is going to be 57 Chevy Sierra Gold with beige interior. Opened the cowl vent.... Also for panel scriber training, with my guidance, he scribed in the rear door and has since added the three outside hinges.... I hope this is going to be the first of many Dad does and that he gets back into the hobby. He is the reason I started doing models years ago.
  13. That's looking really cool so far!
  14. Just a curbside on this one. I built inner fenders in the interior tub for the rear tires but just a curbside.
  15. Thats going to be a neat project!
  16. Nice looking project. I like a believable looking model and I can definately see running into one like that at a Goodguys show sometime! Also, anybody with "A Tribe Called Quest" avitar has to be a cool cat.
  17. Thanks Sam. Its first show was in NC this weekend and it actually got few lookers. People either love it or hate it. LOL But I LIKE IT!
  18. It began as an ARII 1/32 scale Datsun Bluebird
  19. Scale Motorsport upholstery pattern decals
  20. These are some update pics of the project. Its now finished and headed to its first show tomorrow. I hope to post finished pics in the under glass section this weekend.
  21. The info is on the IPMS website I am being told.
  22. There is and I am trying to get you info right now. I am riding there with friends so i know very little about location. I do know that it has been a good show and a good time in the past years I have attended.
  23. It has an aluminum column made to look like it's tilted up. I do this sometimes to take away from the shallowness of the early interior tubs.
  24. Its hard to find current looking wheels anywhere else. I've been experimenting with machining my own and have just had some custom machined for my next project.
  25. This is one I have had done for a while. The colors are Toyota Lunar Mist, Phantom Grey and Salmon interior. Pegasus Hella wheels and MV Lenses.
