    2024

quality over quantity. that being said, with all the details on there. it's the perfect reason to only finish one a year.
  3. awesome progress on this 5-5. keep up the good work man.
  4. nice! I thought it would be a rod of some sort, or a nail. never thought of making one like that till now tho..
  5. long term project, just got longer. after I primed it, it was in silver flake, but the candy decided otherwise. will be back on it soon. Aoshima E70 corolla, I made the front spoiler and fender flares. wheels are 5 spoke "Work Meister S1" from Orange Wheels
  6. awesome build you have going. but, them tools are pretty sweet as well. the carving tool peaked my interest.
  7. love the wagon. them Work Blitz 03's look awesome under there.
  8. Batch #2 This build was really meant to have been a clean type of build like the box art. I didn't use several parts that would make this build as i have plenty of KenMary kits. in this batch, I started with the rear light panel and front end along with the interior and body mods for rust effect. the light panel got some light gun metal, transparent red and orange for the lenses. the trim was sprayed with Alclad chrome, but for lexan. so its not shiny, which works out perfectly for this type of build. the rings and emblems were done with a Sharpe silver marker. the bumpers got the alclad treatment. I started the interior with a camel yellow roll bar, rear deck pioneer speakers. i used adhesive backed felt for carpet and added an extended shifter with clear blue knob. at the front, I cut out the fake mesh grill and add some grill material that's used for vents and even though you can't see the details, there's a radiator, a core/hinge support and the ever popular airhorns that usually play "The God Father" tune sitting behind the mesh.
  9. This is my WIP of the Skyline that I had put in the "in glass" section already. I had to reload them up onto my phone again and then onto my current photobucket, so it took me a bit to do. this will be the first batch. the kit started as the "Grachan" Grand Champ series. it's their low chassis "shakotan", deep offset wheels on low profile "hippari" stretched tires. some come with over fenders small or big and resemble kaido racers aka bosozoku. this is how it came out after my attempt of stripping the primer away. gave me a dirty crazed paint look. it's when I decided to go the way of rust. I always start with wheels and ride height. like how I mount the wheels with brakes to the hubs all makes a difference to my builds. I used Aoshima Watanabe's with brakes from an S13 Silvia kit. can't really see them back there, but they're there. the front suspension was switched out for one from an R32 Skyline kit, Fujimi if I recall. this gave me ground clearance which the box stock kit didn't and some camber with out too much trouble. I had to adjust the toe by cutting the steering bar down the middle and adding some styrene to hold it together. as for the rear, it wasn't my favorite method. but it still worked out. some tubing and rod to hold the brakes and wheels while achieving camber. the wheels were painted in light gun metal from Tamiya. interior and chassis and parts was sprayed with Tamiya semi-gloss black. I made the roll bar starting with a hoop from the parts box. the rest was styrene rod

This is the last one of my finished builds since the last time I was here. all the WIP pics are on my IG page if anyone is on there and would like to see them. @oniworks who knows maybe I can make a single post on about them. lmk what y'all think. there's a couple of old posts that I have on here that i can update...we'll see. This was built for a Facebook group build, but it didn't finish it on time. this time around I wanted that clean but yet still rusty cruiser It's an Aoshima kit, their last reissue of it. I used SSR Star Bright wheels. made the front spoiler from a thick piece of styrene sheet and a pea shooter exhaust. I used the stock seats but deleted the rears by putting some flat sheet covered in BMF flat aluminum. on the passenger seat there's a traffic light stick, ash tray cup and a steering wheel that comes with Kaido Racer type parts which if I recall it from the 'Works" or grand champ kits. I made the roll bar as well and my wink mirror. also added a headliner that I make with masking tape, along with the sides as well. the front grill was also messed with. for some reason it doesn't have the chrome trim that goes around the edge, so I added thin styrene strip and foiled it with BMF. the grill was pushed back further than stock and the head lamp bezels were cut shorter as they don't look correct compared to the 1:1. the white paint is from Tamiya X-2 shot from an airbrush over some Tamiya X-9 brown that was blotched on with a foam chunk. I wet sanded the white away to expose the brown underneath. this time around I used AMMO pigments and washes to get the rusted affect. this was a fun and quickish build. a major slump buster for me and the beginning of my rust type builds. thanks for hanging in as I play catch up.
  11. Finished this one a little over a year ago. It wasn't meant to be rusty and weathered, but it gave me no choice. this was actually the one that made me not trust Rustoleum paints anymore, particularly the primer. around 2015 I sprayed a coat of dark gray primer over it, and it decided to craze all over. tossed in back in the box for about 5 years. not thinking it was a big deal, I tried to stripe it using Citristrip. it took majority off, but it still had the pattern of the craze and some weird staining, that's when I said screw it, it's getting rusted. it's my first time doing it, so I watched a couple builders on youtube and ran with it. I didn't use any paint on the body, only parts that got painted were the flares, I just drilled and grinded some areas. most of what's on there is rust from using steel wool and vinegar, acrylic paints, washes and some baby powder to give me some crusty metal texture. the bumpers and grill didn't come chromed, so I just sprayed them with Alclad lexan chrome spray paint, it's not meant for styrene, so it gives me an old chrome look. it's mainly what I use it for. the interior got some details that won't be seen unless you look in there such as a headliner with a dome lamp and panels for the C pillars. it has the roll bar, lap belts and a harness, wood Nardi steering wheel, long shift stick with transparent blue knob, ash tray cup, rear deck speakers, strobe lamp and the wink panel mirror. wheels are Watanabe's from Aoshima painted with Tamiya TS-42 light gun metal.
  12. Here's another one I had going for a while. I had finished the YonMeri in 2018, a year later we packed up and left California for good ol' Texas. the building came to a halt as I had to put some stuff in storage. slowly I pulled stuff out and managed to finish this one during the shut down. good times 2020 haha. this one is from Hasegawa. this was a fun one to do. It was my first independent rear swap. I love to camber my builds for fun. I added fender flares that came from another kit. still had to add some epoxy putty to make them fit better. also a BRE front spoiler from a Revell 510 kit. the wheels are steelies M-style Orange Wheels from Asuka Model that I widened using barrels from the D-style wheel set. tires are Aoshima lo-profile stretch. wish I had taken a better pic of the interior but the bucket seats are from Aoshima, Nardi deep corn from Asuka, and a scratch made "wink" panel mirror which has lately been my favorite part to make for my builds. the patina paint is all tamiya military paints just sanded back layer and then weathered a bit with their weathering sets and Citadel washes.

thanks man... haha great minds think alike.
  16. After finishing the E70 Corolla, I had a dry spell on finishing a build. I started a few, worked on a couple that were in limbo only to go back into storage. 4 years later, I managed to finish this one. it's an Aoshima KenMary Works kit that comes with the giant fender flares but its actually called YonMeri, it's essentially a KenMary just the 4 door version of the cool iconic brother. same body shape with the popular quad rear lamps. this one was paint with Tamiya TS-3 dark yellow with their pearl clear TS-65 and Testors one coat clear gloss. wheels are Aoshimas Yayoi Cherry Blossoms. the details were kept clean and simple as it's meant to be a cruiser. I added aluminum tubing for exhaust tips, painted the rear light panel in metallic black and went with clear blue tail lamps and front bumper lights. kind of like the euro style lamps, but with a blue tint to them.
  17. got this one done towards the end of 2014. its the Aoshima E70 Corolla, 80-83. it was meant to be the quad lamp, but I didn't pay attention to the details on how the final result was going to be. it sucked, so I reverted to the rectangular head lamps. no biggie but the front end was made to look like the other set up. any ways it turned out good to me. I used Aoshima Hayashi Street and SSR Long Champs "XR-4" wheels. made some cut outs on the rear valance as I didn't add the rear bumper. made a back half cage, a front chin spoiler along with a back section exhaust tip to resemble a Buddy Club exhaust. the paint is Testors one coat Root Beer Brown. also made harness belts for the bucket seat and lap belts for the AE86 passenger seat.
  18. The last build I had going on here was this Aoshima Toyota Century. it's a luxury type of care often used by (Yakuza) businessmen. I went for a different route on this one. the chassis has an adjustable suspension, so I slammed it on Aoshima SSR Mesh wheels and cambered the wheels in. the bumpers were blacked out just to give it a different look. made a dual muffler system for it. I used metal transfer badges, added a VIP drink table and a wood style Nardi steering wheel.

    it's a beautiful build.
  20. It's been a while since I've posted anything on here. haven't had access to a desktop in ages and well, posting on a tablet was a pain in the rear. Ive been on IG for the most part, sometimes on FB. I do miss the forums tho. I'll have some finished builds to show for in the "under glass" section soon as I'm slowly getting back in this. Well onto the progress on my latest victim of my madness. The kit is from Aoshima. Although the box art shows the early 73-75(early ver.) LB, it has the smooth front bumper with the turn signals on the valance, the hood has the raised vents and not shown tail light design is different as well. the kit itself is 75-77(late ver.). Details like the front bumper with turn signals on them and the flat hood vents are different which came the late version. it's a simple curbside with the motorized style chassis. details are nice but do take some patience to get right. Wheels are also from Aoshima, they are Work Equip 03's or Excel as they have been boxed under. they are deep in the front and even deeper in the rears and have the stretched out tires I've gone with a custom build. I've chopped off the solid rear axle and have bashed in an independent rear. I cut up the cradle and diff from an R32 Skyline kit. it's a bit on the wide side, so it had to be adjusted a bit. a cut here and there and I've made something that resembles something that you'd find on a 1:1. made some axles from styrene rod and tubing. will be using the brakes that came with it as well. for the front, it had to be cut up a bit as well to make ground clearance. I cut the control arms at an angle, reglued them on. it gave me the clearance I needed and some camber. front rotors are from the parts bin and have been adjusted to fit the wheels and hub. body mods are all going to be made from styrene and a bit of filler. so far I've started on the front air dam. next will be the inverted hatch back and wing. Thanks for looking and reading along. more pics of this and others are on my IG page.

  22. great looking build. I'm a fan of Aoshima kits. some have better details than others, but great kits over all. if you haven't gone too far into it, I have spare mirrors if you need one..
