  1. holy, gonna interogate me now? some of you people are so immature, just waiting to jump on someone. I entered a few models to display. I did not want to be judged, this was at a 1:1 car show, in which a few friends had their highly modified vehicles at , and my 1:1 is not ready. I took a couple of my models to put on the table and show, they would not let me just put them there, they had to be in the contest. I drove an hour and a half with a box of fragile models, so I put them on the table. as for the " I build for myself" comment that ruffled everyones feathers - I build the stuff I want, the way I want, and I could care less if its a subject that people will like, or if it will win a contest etc. At the end of the day, If I am satisfied then im doing good. I rarely post projects that I am working on, or even completed builds. I like to look at what others are building, sometimes for inspiration, to see what people are doing with a curent kit, etc. If you look back ive been here around 6 years, or so, and I have mabey posted 3-4 of my projects and builds. I have seen what it does to people who build for contests..... if they dont win, it was flawed judging, or the other guy knows the judges, or this or that. People start building specifically to win and try and beat everyone else and it becomes un-fun. I like to build what makes me happy, and occasionaly I like to display it. I used to put a finished build or 2 in the case at the local hobby shop, and once a year the club that used to meet around here would have a display in the mall, however those days are gone.
  2. Ill snap a couple of pics tomorow when I get home..... it is in no way, even close to a best of show. Has decent paint ( not my best) foil work, which 90% of the other entrys didnt have., flocking, pegasus wire wheels, etc. I still dont know why or how I won with it
  3. I dont do contests plain and simple. I could care less what is scratchbuilt, or bought or whatever, as long as people are building and the hobby carrys on..... what does it really matter? Ive entered 1 contest..... I built a kit, start to finish in 4 days. started it thursday night and did final assembly 15 minutes before I left for the show sunday morning..... won overall best of show... didnt think I deserved it, as it was box stock, with nice paint and a few tiny details. Goes to show, no matter what you put into it, or how much time or money is spent..... I do build for myself, I dont feel that I need to enter contests to better myself, I browse many forums and look at other peoples builds and use their experiences/critisisms to better myself. some builds I spend months on, scratchbuilding everything and making sure everything is perfect.... the next ill toss a bunch of $ into detail items and parts and build...... the next might be a snap kit that I toss together box stock in an afternoon.....do what makes you happy, and build for yourself..... if someone beats you at a contest cause the overall execution is better, or gets more points...... w/e
  4. the stock rear end was small and probly wouldnt handle the added power, so I spliced the stock GN rear with stock alfa parts the turbo v6 looks right at home in there
  5. .... Just Kidding. Buick Grand national powered turbo V6 -fujimi 14" Steel Wheel set, and Grand National Turbo Bulge, Tamiya ts-14 Black removed all of the casting lines also, and filled the rear exhaust opening in the bumper, so that I can run duals underneath. more in a bit
  6. Just Picked up another ALfa, and this tamiya full detail prelude!
  7. the crossbars were somewhat available..... one of the guys over on Layitlow model forums had picked some up, without tires..... apparently the hold up is tires, and fitment issues id take a couple cases of the supremes (soverigns) , right now!
  8. the pullys will need to be re-worked to accomodate the S/C but this is mostly just a test fit for the s/c
  9. cant wait!! building a replica of the girlfriends 81 z28 it has 295/60/15 out back, as did my 85 Iroc-z, these are perfect.
  10. Alright, I finished my Red 2010 Camaro, So I figured Id Start another one. This One will have the side skirts and front valance from the optional GM-x kit. It will also have a Heritage grille, and a resin kenny Bell Supercharger. I also had some orange vynil stripes made, as I cannot find anyone to make me waterslides. This one will be GM Summit white, with the orange stripes
  11. I really wish that they would have came with the "heritage" wheels also. I have them on my 1:1 currently as the 5 spokes are played out. I have a set of 19/20 rally wheels with derby caps comming for my next build.. I actually have a case and a half of these, so ill be doin a few different variations
  12. Yes Revell made the suspension as a 4x4, lol... I actually lowered the front about 3 mm, and the rear is out of the box. Mind you I used the wheels and tires from the AMT 2006 concept. and the rear tires ar ehobby design 315/35/20 so with the stock "chunky" tires it would fill the wheel wells abit
  13. Detailed the interior, with gray and black flocking mixture, Color matched Door panel and dash inserts, and detailed the rest incl. dash as stock. The color is Duplicolor Color Match GM Metallic Red,with kit supplied stripes I scratchbuilt a "Roto-Fab" brand cold air intake Great Kit all around, I just finished another one also, and am starting on a new one today. One of Revells best offerings in years as far as im concerned.
  14. I decided against using the deepdish rear wheels, cause they woudl stick out way too much. so here is the rollin stock, unless i find something more suited to the car before final assembly
  15. the tires are hobbydesigns brand, I got them on ebay. the barrels I made by cutting down a set of pegasus wheels.
  16. Nearing Completion! detail painting I need to do something abuot the rear.... I have 315/35/20 hobby design tires on there, and there is just too much wheel gap
  17. do you have a link to where I can get one of these? need badly, lol
  18. Labor Foreman for a scaffold company up In the Oilsands in northern Alberta Canada. I run a crew of almost 20 guys, that do maintnence/general labor around a refinery.
  19. Nope found it on eBay. Pretty decent looking one
  20. Ls3 with a Kenny bell supercharger and scratch built intake with filter and fuel rails. I will add pictures when I get home all I have at the money is a rough unfinished engine shot Ls3 with a Kenny bell supercharger and scratch built intake with filter and fuel rails. I will add pictures when I get home all I have at the money is a rough unfinished engine shot
  21. If that were the case I would pre-order 2 cases of 1:12 Camaros right now!!! would be really cool to have it in 1:12, but I doubt that it will happen
  22. Just finished this one up....gave me a heck of a time. lol I started with the revell 2010 Camaro SS. had the local paint supply store mix me up some single stage "close enough" Synergy Green. The car is loosely based on Mr. Motions 2012 which was green and gold. I used the kit Ls3 and added a resin supercharger and partsbox fuel rails.( I dont have an engine shot at the moment, im up at work way up north) blacked out some Pegasus T`s and added pegasus brakes. Not my best BY FAR but feels great to finish a build! the paint gave me heck, but I got it looking half decent and decided to call it done!
  23. im down for a couple of sets!! 295 and these would be great , will sure help when replicating 1:1s that ive built
