Amt 72 Blazer
bill_67 replied to bill_67's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Sorry, for so many pictures in the first post, the body is pretty much stock. The paint is Ppg waterborne med blue from the 1972 Gm colour lineup. -
This is my build for the cannonball run this year the theme was sleepers. I used a a Ferrari 599 gto from revell for the underneath including the engine, transmission, exhaust, brakes and tires. The white walls were used to fill the gap between the stock caps and Ferrari tires. The wooden bed was made to hide the trans and exhaust. Other than the rear wheel wells the interior is stock with the exception of the steering wheel it's from 69 Camaro and the paddle shifters from the Ferrari.

Wow, that wagon is nice! I really like the painted Chrome and colour choices for the body. So clean.

What every it's called Outbackrun, Aussieball sounds like great fun. Count me in, it would have been my first choice anyway. The 2 years I have been participating have been a lot fun!

I'm so glad to see you back on this and moving forward, the chassis and exhaust are amazing.

That car turned out so beautiful, extremely photogenic. The rear 3/4 shot really shows how the lines flow.

2015 Cannonball Run CBP -completed builds thread
bill_67 replied to Jantrix's topic in Community Builds
This is my Cannonball (sleeperball) run for this year, started with the amt '72 blazer and revell 599 gto. Started by shortening the Gto chassis cutting a section out of the middle to fit the blazer body. Other than that the exhaust needed no mods to fit. The blazer runs the gto engine, transaxle and suspension. The brakes and tires are also stock gto I really wanted to keep the power to the ground, and stopping ability. The Blazer is lowered to keep the axles in line with the wheels. I had to make a new rear bed floor to hide the transaxle and exhaust. By keeping the stock Ferrari running gear meant using paddle shifters so I painted body Colour to camouflage them into the dash. Paint is ppg waterborne GM med blue from 1972. Thanks for looking, I had a blast building along with the great builders in this cbp -
I'm doing the sameting Bruce, took these picture and didn't realize the windshield had slid down in the corner. Oh well I still have tonight

I thought the way we had the poll was fine, if there is a clear winner run with that. By the way Rob thank you for taking over the thread and setting up the poll.

Keep up the great work Jonathan, I can't believe that you got much body work done in that short of time. Looking forward to seeing it when finished. -
Fantastic work Jonathan and Mike. I have to say I really think this might be the best cannonball run yet, some really amazing builds this year.

Well Pat this little smart car turned out awesome, still trying to wrap my mind around how you managed to get that engine and suspension under that thing and still have an interior in it. Any way great work, hope to see you at the starting line.

I have been trying to up load photos from photobucket the way it I used to, by using direct then copy and paste in the insert other media tab below here. It just looks like it loading but the pics never appear. It just keeps loading for hours. Tried different computers Google Chrome nothing seems to work. Did I miss something when the format switched. Thank you for any help someone can provide. I can put up a photo from the iPad but when erase the picture from the pad ( it's not mine) it disappears. The is a screenshot of the loading wheel.

Just posting a couple of update pictures, I have the engine, drive train, suspension, brakes and interior all fitted. I should have all of the above primed and painted this week. I Made a new rear floor to clear the transmission. I had to keep the truck lowered so the axle would lineup. Kept the GTO brakes and tires so I made white walls to fill the wheels.

That is some great looking work Bruce. Looking like your gonna make it in plenty of time.
