  1. I think I painted the Beetle with Boyds Pacific Blue? I think. Here's a few pics of the Galaxies as requested.
  2. Thanks fellas for the kind words. The Tamiya Beetle went together flawlessly as Tamiyas do. The 53 Corvette was the opposite; when the chassis met the body, the car sat higher than a Hum-v. The fit and finish was ridiculously terrible, hence the absence of an engine and suspension. The tires and wheels are glued to the chassis. The AMT Galaxie was my first build using custom parts...ill post some different pics soon. The purple pie wagon had doors before paint but scribing went a little too far. The paint jobs all employed Ye Olde Yost method.
  3. I also have the HF double action. Make sure you are cleaning the really small removeable tip...the thing if you drop you might not ever find it again. At the local drugstore, they sell very very small tooth cleaners, they look like miniature pipe cleaners.. package of 20 is only a few.bucks. Wet the brush with lacquer thinner and clean out that tip. You will be surprised what is still inthere.
  4. Here's a few cars I finished over the past 6 months. Hope you like!
  5. The directions call for flat black in about every interior piece, which would create a boring car. I took this opportunity to practice my interior painting skills which are slowly improving, and add detail.
  6. Nicely done. I will post some updates tonight.
  7. I recommend the new painters here search the Donn Yost related threads and posts. All your questions will be answered.
  8. Thanks for the engine color help 3men...do you have a few close ups of your engines?
  9. LIKE! Where are the decals from? Pattos?
  10. Great looking cars...can u post some pics of the engine?
  11. Anyone know the true color of the engine block? The directions say green, as do the pictures. But green can be a million different shades. The body does appear to be straight as far as I can tell.
  12. That Cobra and a few others were from the club members there. And man they were the best looking cars there, hands down. I'm not sure who built them, but that person needs to chime in here and fill us in on these builds:
  13. I picked this up at a show last weekend for $8.00 sealed. Man I love these shows. I can find oddball kits at crazy low prices, and I like the cars that are different from the day to day stuff. The kit details are pretty sharp, hardly any flash, a very well tooled kit. Here's the chassis in plastic white, 1 coat of metalizer, and a coat of Duplicolor silver. More to come.
  14. Tracy, I would like to see some of your builds? Why not post some pictures? Looking forward to seeing your work!
  15. I tried to take pictures of every single car. If your's isn't here, it's because I am a lousy photographer and the pics came out blurry. http://photobucket.com/cinci04142012
  16. I believe this has been covered in another thread.
  17. I took a hundred pics or so...ill get to posting asap.
  18. $13.00 shipping is too high even for 2 kits.
  19. After using brake fluid for stripping a body, I pour it back into its bottle for another few uses.
  20. Harbor Freight has a dehydrator for $14.00 after coupon. Best money I have ever spent! Enamel paint dries in a couple days versus couple weeks. The Mr Hobby oven is nice but overrated. It is made primarily for acrylics, as it only runs for 15 minutes or so before it shuts off.
  21. There's a couple..feel free to pm me the names.
