Filler for scratches and seems ?
sportandmiah replied to rickd13's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Some use CA (superglue) and when it dries, sand it down, leaving a smooth finish. To speed it up, buy a CA accelerator. I use superglue versus putty on.scratches and filling seams. -
What's up with no posting?
sportandmiah replied to SuperStockAndy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
We wlil close this thread on a positive note gentleman, as Cruz summarized my thoughts exactly: When are people going to realize that this is a blessing. To be able to sit in front of a computer and share or see what everyone else is doing, don't you guys think that is fun? Who cares if someone comes in and tries to stir trouble or say what's in his mind? Don't like it? Ignore it, it's that easy, there are hundreds of other threads that are much more interesting than others. I remember when we didn't have forums a few years back, I was always desperate for the next model car magazine to hit the stands so that I could be up to date with what was happening in our hobby. Nowadays, not only do I still purchase the magazines but if I happen to miss an issue, well, I have the forums, isn't that the greatest thing? Probably some people have decided to leave the forum, others might have lost interest and there are probably hundreds of other reasons for people quiting but I look at it this way, it's their loss. When all is said and done, when you are really passionate about this hobby, you will end up in a new place with totally new issues. -
There appears to be a select few members here that cannot grasp the idea of this being a place to discuss models. Those members at the drop of a hat, will argue and incite other members into an argument. Some members have problems with other members, and every time one posts, they are at each others throats. Sometimes these posts are nasty, juvenile, and plain disrespectful. Other times the posts are just little jabs, enticing the other member/s to argue. I was blessed with what I believe is an abundant amount of common sense. Therefore, if I delete one of your posts and send you a warning, it's not because I'm picking on you. It's not because I don't like you. It's because you didn't use common sense before hitting "SUBMIT". If you receive warning and deleted post from me, DO NOT PM ME SPEWING FOUL LANGUAGE. The only thing you will accomplish is increasing your blip on the radar. I'm tired of deleting posts and locking threads because members want to fight. Also, just because you have been a member longer than someone else doesn't give you special privileges. Just because you have a post count of 7000 doesn't make you special. I know not one member here personally, and I treat everyone equal. I favor nobody. If your thread or post, in any way shape or form, entices or appears to be argumentative in nature, I'm closing it and you will receive a warning. I'm not perfect, and make mistakes sometimes. So feel free to PM me IN A CONSTRUCTIVE AND PROFESSIONAL MANNER, and we will discuss like adults. It might be that we just need to delete a word or rephrase something. I can work with you to fix the problem versus just handing out punishments. I am a member on many model based forums, and for whatever reason, this one really has a lot of problem children. I CAN NOT visit this place 20 times a day. I work all day, come home to my wife and child, and am worn out. But I make an attempt to scan the posts every day and try to weed out the problems. But is seems the problems continue. I'm not a bully, I'm not power hungry. I just want what the owner wants, and that is a civil forum to discuss models.

Time to build a new spray booth

Sorry it took me so long...been busy. Here's. Couple pics....uses a standard 10x20 furnace filter. I used both motors...works pretty good...although I might redesign it...the airflow isn't as strong as I would like. -
Cool build. How is the quality? Similar to Tamiya? I've yet to build a Fujimi but have 8 or so awaiting to be built.

The person who stole your models knows you very well, and probably isn't going to sell them. Your suspect will be your friend, and will probably call you inquiring how the police investigation is going...but is really fishing for info. Or could be a friend that suddenly is absent and drops off the face of the earth. Regardless, models are a niche market. Everyday criminals are after three things right now: alloys, copper, and jewelry. Models aren't even a blip on their radar.

I own a Paasche H and also the top feed Neo. The Neo is a great airbrush especially for detailing parts. What makes it really nice is the ability to remove the cups, allowing me to use only a couple drops of paint and thinner for small parts, which eliminates the waste of paint.

HOK paint question

So are these paints I've bought any less dangerous than the other urethanes? I'm opting for lacquer thinner versus activator. -

11 clams each...smartsaver in loiusvile. -
Being out of town for a couple weeks on business, I found a place that sells House of Kolor in 4oz bottles. I bought a couple bottles to see what all the rage is. I used lacquer thinner versus their recommended reducer with pretty good results. My question is: What kind of paint is this? Is it enamel, lacquer, or what? I don't think it's urethane because the lettering in the model number usually has a "U". Here's the bottles:

The NEO is fine. I have one and I couldn't ask for a better airbrush at that price. I tear it down to clean after every use with no ill results following. I had $200 to spend on an airbrush, but still chose the NEO...I only use it to paint interior and exterior parts and its perfect. I have the version with the paint cup on the top of thebrush which is a snap to clean. Don't forget the 40% coupon.

how should you spray testors spray enamel
sportandmiah replied to h3ae86's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If you have a few.extra bucks, purchase a Paasche H airbrush. You can decant it, thin it, and spray with MUCH better results than using a rattle.can. In fact, you'll be.amazed at the results you can.get with an airbrush. -

Time to build a new spray booth
sportandmiah replied to sportandmiah's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Finally able to make some progress today. I used my next door neighbors table saw to slice and dice 1/4" MDF. I've had all the pieces traced out and cut and built today. I need to cut holes in the back for the motors.
