  1. Here's why you are building a ticking time bomb: Your paint fumes have nowhere to go but a large canister, creating a very turbulent mixture of paint fumes and wood dust. Unless you are blowing this stuff outside, it's eventually going to create a large disaster. You need to post a detailed picture of this motor you are using so we know what you are talking about before you start painting. Great design and build, but needs a little tweaking.
  2. Sleepylafiel has uploaded 2 new episodes! I don't build Gunpla but its a great way to learn new techniques. Plus, there's plenty of car builds. http://www.youtube.com/user/sleepylafiel
  3. I sure hope you're not sucking that paint into the vacuum unless its acrylic.
  4. Very cool fellas. Fell free to post some close shots of ur interiors. Im always looking for inspiration!
  5. Yup. They charge more because they fit together so well.
  6. I mean the glass bottle wont fit with my thumb screw.I do need a quick disconnect though.
  7. Which kit? I've built a ton of Tamiyas with no ill fitting glass. In fact I am amazed at how easily they snap in.
  8. TY fellas. The engine...what you see is what it came with...not much.
  9. LOL...you're welcome! I've noticed that it doesn't work with the glass bottle paint cup though, only the small chrome cup. So when I use the glass cup I have to revert to the old setscrew.
  10. Have you tried any Tamiya kits? They piece together so accurately you would be amazed.
  11. Scratchbuilt the Driver side impact box..will connect to the driver side roll cage. CF decals added to the front of car.
  12. I added Cf decals to some parts of the body, as well as the engine and engine bay parts. Not easy stuff to work with, but nice to look at when done. I scratchbuilt the wire connectors out of styrene tubing. Again, not easy drilling holes is something thinner that a toothpick.
  13. Here's a project that I work on a little bit every morning before I go to work. I really like this Le Mans version, but the kit itself is very basic. So I've added some additions and scratchbuilt a few items along the way. i want to CF decal the center console, so I removed the buttons, sanded, sprayed Mr Surfacer, and smoothed out. This will allow me to apply the CF decal, and I will add new buttons and switches later.
  14. Hmmmmm..... http://www.modelcars...l=&fromsearch=1
  15. I love to research the car prior to building. Basic research can make a simple built model into a real showpiece. I Google for at least a week, and Kinko the pics, and put them into a binder for easy reference.
  16. Very nice work Mike!
  17. I primed some parts today using the updated Plastikote and it is great stuff. I found Duplicolor a little too watery. This Plastikote sprays similar to tamiya primer. If your nozzles are clogging, take it off and soak in lacquer thinner...wipe tip off with Lac thin on a q tip also.
  18. Someday when i have time (puhleez) i will turn some out on my lathe and you are more than.welcome to have some.
  19. I am curious as to what size rivet is suitable for 1/24 scale car bodies? Scale Hardware website has rivets ranging from 0.4mm to 1.4mm. Would 0.4mm be too small? Should I go bigger? Hobby Design also has some.
  20. Sweet. I have been using duplicolor awhile but it does not sand well at all. Looking forward to using this. ...update...the can in my first post isnt too bad after all.....a.few hours in the dehydrator and all is well.
  21. I put it in my dehydrator....took a few hours but.seems to have dried well after all. But the hunt continues for the real stuff!
  22. Did I buy the wrong Plastikote primer? I primed a body, and it appears it should be dry by mid October.
