  1. What has gotten into everybody on here? This did not used to be an English class!! If it was, several of our posters would not do so well! I had to say I had been on the board 2 or 3 times and had not clicked on this thread as I figured I would have no interest in the malcom gasser. It was only tonight I thought "could they possibly have meant Malco"?
  2. W409, those carbs are works of art! Whoops it posted twice, but those are nice carbs!
  3. W409, those carbs are works of art!
  4. There was discussion of Phil Castronovo Custom Body decals on page 2 of this discussion. I finished them, then Chuck Boerner took my graphics and improved them. He is selling a 1/25 version of the decal on eBay, and you can see it and his other decals on his Photobucket page. I am having trouble pasting here, but if you google stang1forever photobucket you will find his page. Chris
  5. Very nice!!!!
  6. Looks really good. I am building that car now with Shirley Muldowney decals. The real car had a Logghe chassis so mine will definitely be shown with the body down!! Nice paintwork.
  7. I'd leave the chassis, engine, etc. alone and repaint the body with some of the ideas you have in mind. You could always find some Slixx Revellaser or Mickey Thompson Pinto decals too, but I like your jazzed-up Crazy Horse idea.
  8. Hi, you can check out this place too http://www.fireballmodels.info/index.htm
  9. Hi, nice build. I like that body. Are those Slixx decals? Any trouble with them? I am in the midst of doing the Muldowney Fredricks of Hollywood car and some of the slixx decals are driving me nuts - cracking and splitting badly. Micro Scale decal film is helping some, but not enough!! BTW, The Trojan Horse did not win the '71 Worlds Finals, Phil Castronovo won that http://www.nhra.net/50th/news/headlines.html?year=1971 Looks like Fullerton won it in '72: http://www.nhra.net/50th/news/headlines.html?year=1972
  10. Worth the trouble! It looks great.
  11. Really nice!!!! Good to see a rarely built replica. BTW, are the left side headers on the right side, and visa versa?
  12. It is probably the Snow Charger since it has not been out in a while. My dream is always a 71 Camaro FC, but I am not optimistic.
  13. A tire from one of the unannounced Revell 2014 releases. Seems to indicate there will be another NHRA subject, which is a bit surprising as I don't think the last ones sold that well (unfortunately.)
  14. A great build of my favorite driver's car. Nice!
  15. So this is the penultimate painting area thread. Penultimate means second to last. How do you know there will only be one more painting area thread ever on this board? That said, nice setup!
  16. I don't know a lot about sprint car kits, so what is the origin and how new are the tools for the winged sprint cars DTR has just reissued:
  17. Nice workmanship!
  18. First, these are two great builds. But what is almost as amazing is you started on March 24!! I have gotten almost nothing done on a model in that time, and you have cranked out two beauties! Congrats!
  19. Absolutely great!!
  20. The challenger and Kalitta Mustang axles are both the same width, altho the axles themselves are a bit different. The axle in the Blue Max MPC/AMT reissue of a few years back is narrower than the two I just mentioned.
  21. Fantastic. The tinwork on the Ivo car is amazing!!
  22. Hi Charlie, I am not going to do the sides for two reasons. First is I think it is beyond my capabilities as a Corel Draw amateur to do it and get them to fit properly, and secondly, the front and rear bumper areas need to be the same color as the sides, and I think they have too much curvature to get the decals to lay down properly. Do you recall the car as being a hot pink? I seem to recall it leaning more red, but it was 42 years ago I saw it! The Super Stock and Drag magazine with it on the cover makes it look sort of wild cherry, and the article describes it as candy cherry. The Drag Racing USA magazine I have has a picture that makes it look a bit redder, and they describe the car as "glowing in wild cherry" paint. The postcard I scanned makes it look very pink, but it was on my bedroom wall for many years and the whole thing has faded a lot. I have some HOK wild cherry pearl that looks maybe a bit to purplish, but it is bright! Not quite sure what I am going to paint it. My brother and I stopped by Custom Body about 2 years ago and met with Fred Castronovo - I should have asked him if he had any color pictures. I am now working on the grill for the car. That is the last item I am going to try and do. It is very similar to the grill Slixx includes for the Hawaiian, but the CB grill has less detail. Chris
  23. Hi Charlie, I always love your work. The decals will be in 1/25. I was going to do them as dry transfers, but it looks like someone will make decals of them. The pic is the almost completed sheet when I was going to have dry transfers made. I am now setting them up for decals and separating the colors right now to get things done. Needless to say the color on the attached is a bit wacky. The magenta represents white. The big question is what color goes in the words mini, charger and Custom Body. I think the fill should be gold metallic. The last time I saw the car was in 1971 when I was 11, and all my reference photos are inconclusive. I have a couple color photos and gold looks like the way to go. I grew up in Rome NY, which was the next town over from Utica where the Castronovos are/were from. The car went thru a few redos during 1971. I am doing what I believe to be the "as built" scheme, just prior to what is shown in the postcard. I am removing the "Phil Burkhart" names. They were for another project. Chris
