Hi Brett, I have heard Future works well as a sealer. Let us know how it works. If it does not work, The Zinzer Bin Shellac Base sealer is great, but no idea if you can get in NZ! Looking foward to seeing this build progress!

So if Bruce and Revell are serious, they have a number of options: 1) Take the Logghe chassis from the Hawaiian and tool a '68 Camaro body and a new Chevy engine 2) Same as 1, but tool a '70 Camaro body. Don't know if this car ran a Chevy or a hemi. 3) Take the 70s digger FC chassis and tool a 71 or whatever the Camaro body is in Tbusch's pic above. This has an advantage in that the kit already has a hemi, which is what Tbusch's prototype pic shows.

Yep, that is the 1970 that the MPC kit was supposed to be a model of (except for the stock body and I think it had a logghe chassis.) If Bruce could get Revell to tool up this body and put in on their existing 70s digger chassis I would be a happy modeler!! But wonder if they will be investing any more tooling dollars in new "nostalgia" nitro burners......

The USA-1 Camaro I am refering to is this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MPC-Bruce-Larson-USA-1-Camaro-Funny-Car-/160735196607 Its a 1970 - I could not find a pic of the real thing, this is of the kit that MPC offered. I think that kit had a logghe chassis and it had a stock body - what did the real one have for a chassis?

I am sorry to hear the Hawaiian and CTH did not sell well. Revell made a lot of hoopla when they announced those kits while at the same time announcing a partnership with the NHRA to launch some nostalgia nitro kits. We got those two new kits, and since then it has only been re-issues - JJ's Vega and McEwen's Duster and rear engine dragster - altho the dragster had not been reissued in many years, if ever. Revell does have a thing for nitro cars - they tooled up the Blue Max body about 10 years back to go on their exisitng '70s era chassis, so they could tool up a Vette for that. Did the 70 Camaro USA 1 sit on a logghe or a digger chassis? If the latter, they could use their 70s chassis, and if the former, the Hawaiian logghe. I don't see them using the Heavy Hugger Camaro body - it was cool but completey un-prototypical. I have long hoped for a 70 Camaro from Revell with JJ decals. I probably will be hoping for a long time.....

Interesting. The only one Revell could issue with existing tooling is the Olds. They don't have a body mold for a '69 or a '70 or later Camaro FC - although at NNL East Revell was asking what kit we'd like to see from them, and I said a '71 Camaro FC. Wonder if they are considering tooling a new Camaro body, or if Bruce is just hoping they will so one of his cars can be issued......Chris

Revell "Orange Crate" '32 Ford Sedan Hot Rod

The McEwen rear engine dragster is also molded in the US, althought I think the box is printed in China, whereas this kit's box is printed in Poland. Amazing it is more cost-effective to print boxes in Poland than here!?! Chris -
I eyeballed the bulge when I was building it, and it is too high and too wide as well. I had all kinds of problems building the bulge, so I am glad I didn't start over, but if I ever did another one I'd do it the right height.
-
This is based on the Revell Concept Camaro snap kit. The hood bulge was scratch built, and I made the decals on the computer and printed them with my inkjet. The wheels are Modelhaus Radirs, and the interior was converted to a 2 seater. Paint is Testors white.

Very nice! The only thing is the tail lights should be onthe indents on the bumper and yours has them on the body. But this is a great build! Chris

I got my order the other day. Their work is so great - such a loss to the hobby. Chris

Those Dragmasters were classics. My favorite is Two Thing, which was a twin-engine chevey setup in a,Dragmaster chassis. Look fwd to seeing this as it moves along. Chris

We started moving to our new house in April, finished in Sept., and I still don't have my modeling area set up, so these two early 2011 builds are it for the year......Chris

Love this!!!

So you are moving the rear wheel opening forward 1/4" I guess? I never realized that the Revell wheelbases were off.

If the real Allison Matador was this well built it would have won every race it entered!!! Fantastic job!
-
Unbelievable work! And you do it so fast - incredible! Congrats!
-
This looks accurate enough that if it was made of metal instead of plastic I think it would not only run, but run some really low e.t.s!!! Fantastic work, amazing detail! Chris

That is just insanely good. Unreal!!!!! Chris

What is the quality of the Whoopee Kat decals? I got a set of Custom Body Mini Charger decals a year or so back, and the graphic quality was not good. It looked like he did not use a vector software program for the graphics, so all curved edges were jagged, as if they had been done using Powerpoint or something instead of a program like Corel Draw.
