Thanks for the reply Mark - I was thinking turbocharging might be popular. I'll have to see if I can find some turbo or supercharger set-ups in late Camaros on the internet. Cheers, Jim

Hi, A few suggestions from some of the knowledgeable people on here would be really helpful. I'm building a Revell 2010 Camaro that is a street/strip machine, kind of like something you see at Hot Rod's drag week. I'm thinking of using the kit block and putting the induction system on from a Pontiac GTA prostreet (hi rise intake and two carbs) - I think it'd look good but would people fit such a system to a late model Camaro? Here's some progress pics: A resin outlaw hood intended for the AMT Camaro was too big so I used the centre section and blended it into the Revell hood. It has been back-halved with the Revell Pontiac GTA prostreet: A couple mock ups: I've cleaned up almost all the parts for it now and just working on putting some sort of roll bar into it. Any comments and suggestions warmly welcomed!! Cheers, Jim

Hi, Does this look like the sort of build that could go in this community build? Not entirely sure about its classification but I'm thinking of a hot rod drag week type of build. Here's a mock up pic: Cheers, Jim

Hi, That's a really nice build. How did you do the decals - they look the business. Cheers, Jim

Jim Whalen replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Model Cars
Hi, Fantastic build Cranky! Lots of character has been infused into this one. I've got your book and one day I'll be brave enough to try some of the techniques in it! Cheers, Jim -
Hi, Nice, tidy build. Looks sharp in that shade of yellow. Cheers, Jim

Hi, Really nice build! Update the thread when you get the decals on. Cheers, Jim -
Hi, There used to be a couple of people who stocked American aftermarket stuff but even then their stock was a bit hit and miss. Hiroboy did have some stuff but haven't restocked, I think there may still may be one or two things there so its worth a look. As Geoff said - thank goodness we have the internet!! I've dealt with Scaledreams as well and they are quick, unless you're a very fast builder (which is unlikely if you're changing a kit around) you'll have the stuff before you need it. If you don't its always a good excuse to order the bits you need for more than one project or start a new project while you're waiting for your order to arrive! I've also used Replicas and Minatures of Maryland, PSF Hobbies and Slixx with success as well. Cheers, Jim

Hi, They're both really nice! Wish I had the time and the building speed to pop two models out in two weeks! Cheers, Jim

I really like the C6 - this one looks more hyped up and angry, although is does look better in the pics Cliff put up (the red one looks nicer). I find it all a bit busy and agree with the others about the back, they've moved away from the classic design. We'll have to see what it looks like on the road and what its driving dynamics are like before we can get the final perspective on it. Cheers, Jim

Jim Whalen replied to crazyrichard's topic in Model Cars
Hi, Cool build - you've gotten the wood to fit the kit parts' dimensions really well. Cheers, Jim -
Hi, Really nice build - not just a good paintwork itself but good preparation as well. I've started working on an AMT '63 vette and there's a fair amount of work to get a clean foundation for the paint. The blue with the white works really well. Cheers, Jim

Revell '62 Corvette Roadster 2'n1

Hi Guys, Thanks for the helpful replies. Matt - you can't get Testors model car paints here, a shame as I like the Honduras Maroon and it would make a change of pace from all the bright red ones (I don't mind bright red - in fact I quite like it as my 1:1 hot rod is bright red!!). I was quite optimistic when I heard that Testors paints would start to be sold over here but all that is being imported are the military colours plus some of the basics. A plus is the metalisers are over here now and they're a nice product. Marcos - ScaleFinishes can't ship paint outside of the U.S. either - I'll either have to get some chips or see if my local car paint shop can use some of the codes from the paint manufacturers, it seems getting the codes isn't too difficult. Cheers, Jim -
Revell '62 Corvette Roadster 2'n1

Hi Brett, Thanks for the reply - I deal with Steve at Hiroboy regularly, he uses an Italian company to provide the recipes for his paints and if they don't have the code listed he's unable to do the ratios correctly. There are some codes for Chevrolets but none as early as 1962. What Steve does have is a huge range chips that he can match so if I get some paint chips off e-bay it won't be 100% accurate but it'll be close enough for me and probably all but the pickiest of viewers. I'll try the links you have suggested as well, thanks. Cheers, Jim -

Hi, I've found this thread really useful for learning about not only the kit but real '62 Corvettes - thanks guys! I've got one of these kits now (took a while for one to appear over here) and I'd like to paint it an accurate colour - MCW do not ship out of the U.S. - has anyone got any suggestions on how I can get a realistic representation of '62 vette colours? Any help greatly appreciated!! Cheers, Jim -

Hi, Some nice builds there - I'm on my lunch break at the moment and haven't got much time - I'll have a closer look over the weekend. Sure looks like it'll be worthwhile! Cheers, Jim -
Hi, Your save job has turned out really well - good work! Thanks for putting up the extra photos. Cheers, Jim

Hi, Looking good! Try ironing a bedsheet and using that as a background for your model when you photograph it - it may give you a more consistent colour (and use a daylight bulb as well - or photograph outside (but not in direct, bright sunlight)). An easy way to get improve the looks of the straps on your aircleaner would be to use bare metal foil. The model has turned out nicely - have you got a trailer to put behind it? Cheers, Jim

Hi, Thanks for the posts guys, I've just got this kit as a Christmas present and have a had a good read through this thread. Was thinking of painting it candy green to go with the green decals until I saw the post about the decals and was reassured when I saw the corrected version. I then checked the ones in my kit and they are the incorrect version - so I haved decided to go with candy purple to save the hassle of ordering new decals. Painting the model green and then finding the decals to be incorrect would have been really frustrating. Its at times like this that one really appreciates these forums where people put up their findings/views about kits! Cheers, Jim
