SpreadAxle

This has been on the bench for a little over a year, and I've been meaning to show them here, I just kept forgetting to post them. Some of you have seen these, others haven't, so here goes. I've taken a Freightliner DD and an SD kit, and switched the cabs on the frames. The tandem axle daycab will be a Ryder truck with a DD 6-71 engine pulling a reefer. The single axle sleeper will be pulling a pair of livestock trailers like one would see out west. The headlight assemblies, molded too high by AMT, have been lowered. Starting with the sleeper cab, I shortened it to 75 scale inches, and converted to single headlights. This will be it's paint scheme, just different colors. I have enough blue ones for now. The intake will be a regular air cleaner and stack, rather than the frontal intake provided by the kit. Here's the Cummins NTC 290 that will power it. One of its 2 trailers in progress. Here is the dashboard for it. The switch panels are part of a photo etch set offered by Harald Weber. Next post is the daycab.

This is really turning out nice. I love the colors you picked, and I think either of the 2 trailer choices you have in mind are perfect for it. The frame length looks good, and I like the use of the double round headlights. I always liked these better than the single round headlights.

For those building Italeri FLC and FLD kits. I took some close ups of the sleeper in case you ever want to try it. An FLD I caught in Canton, OH. A rear shot The 60" flattop sleeper can be found in the FLD kits, as well as the Revell of germany Freightliner FLC offered in the '80s. Some italeri and Revell of Germany kits used the 60" Freightliner sleeper at least for the sidewalls. The Italeri Ford LTL 9000 molded in blue(Lone Wolf trucking decals), the Revell of Germany T600 "Big Sleeper", and some others. If you can get 2 pairs of these sidewalls, as well as a spare rear wall and front wall, you can build it. I took some close ups, so all you have to do is count rivets on the side wall for the additional height. Are these plastic, metal or a mix of both? I see these in a lot of truck stops and some sell just the trailers by themselves including this one. It might be worth a look if they can be cut and modified.

Yes! Let your fingers savor the victory!!! Rippin' the cellophane on a rare kit is a rush. It makes it yours. I would send it home for safe keeping.

Many of us have bought the PayHauler 350 kit as a load for a lowboy. I searched and searched for a pic of one being hauled. I thought you might like this one. I was expecting to see it being hauled in pieces. As in, main body and frame on a lowboy/RGN, dump body on a stepdeck. This is the only pic I could find. Sorry it's a bit small.

You're doing a good job. The pic of the suspension on the real truck is definately a Pete suspension.
