  1. Yesterday afternoon/early evening it was mid-70s and lightly raining. Smells like a tropical island now and is in the low 70's. Gotta love the So Cal coast...
  2. Since when is offering a valid, possibly differing opinion (sometimes punctuated with obvious humor) considered "hate"? Now if we were discussing a model built by a forum member and someone said they didn't like it for whatever reason, I would expect that type of "don't be a hater" comment, even though it would be inaccurate and off target as well.
  3. Maybe he was inspired by The Dukes of Hazzard but hasn't gotten around to the orange paint?
  4. 1/87th. LeMans Miniatures.
  5. OK, if we are having a contest, does that beat "my" BMW offering? And by beat I don't mean is it "nicer". It amazes how much money and effort people will invest to make such things, yet as much as it is not my cup of tea, they do have every right to do so...
  6. The car has some flat black graphics provided as such on the decal sheet. Some were printed attached to the graphics that are supposed to be gloss, so I cut the flat black parts off and applied all the gloss decals and clear coated the body.
  7. But that raises another question... Can you polish puke?
  8. The wheels are done… And the decals are applied… And no, that is not a “big ruler”…
  9. I'm sure it is a Hot Wheels-ized version of the Charger III. I wish they had just done it as the Charger III...
  10. I didn't mix the paint, it came with the kit, (and it looks a tad bit on the light side to me)... But Testors 1108 Light Blue lightened up with some white and toned down with a tiny amount of gray is what I have used before. I don't have the formula, just matched it by eye.
  11. Well, that certainly explains many things I have seen...
  12. Another old small scale resin kit. The base blue is on and most of the black is painted in the recessed areas, next step is decals. This is the Gulf scheme.
  13. Relatively recent resin & white metal kit by Marsh Models. Mica Silver for the base color…
  14. I mixed a metallic/pearl white color for lower areas based on photos of the real car. It is more of a white than a silver to my eye. I also scored some 45 year old paint (now that’s good lacquer…) I am using on it, at least it is about the same age as the first rendition of the real car…
  15. It looks very nice, (Just like the sign says... ), and I really like Minilites, but it looks like the car in the picture has steel wheels. Did it also run with Minilites?
  16. The interior details and wood grain were hand painted. A few decals were added for the smaller gauges. After looking at the photos of the real car I decided to cut down the shifter to look a little closer to reality.
  17. This is the AMT SnapFastPlus kit. It came with the silver painted on the lower body, but there were also mold lines still on it all. And some nasty imperfections like these. Since I don’t intend to reengineer the kit to mold the front and rear valances to the body before painting, I just screwed it… together… and sanded the seams smooth. I used Tamiya Dark Metallic Blue as the base color.
  18. Elvis had no input as to the design. It was used in Clambake in 1967, but it was Bill Mitchell's (1959) design and personal ride before that.
  19. One of my all-time favorite Corvettes. Amazing design from 1959 that holds its own even today. Not the best kit, nor the most accurate by a long shot, but still a fun build and it looks good on the shelf. Old resin kit by Starter in 1/43rd scale. Straight out of the box except for the rear view mirror faces I made from Mylar and a gear shifter made from a straight pin. I made a jig to bend the wings of the knock-offs out equally.
  20. A good friend provided the raw casting and fresh wheels… Not a true restoration, but I wanted to keep the look and feel of the ‘70s. Once the body casting was smoothed out candy red was shot over a silver basecoat. A coat of fluorescent red and another coat of candy red make it a very hot red-orange color.
  21. Yes, those are corn on the cob holders...
  22. At least my Corvette is American made, and probably not too far from a bourbon distillery to boot. Except I prefer Scotch...
  23. Don't know about your F-body, but my '94 Camaro was built in Canada, not the U.S.A.
  24. The Testors silver will wear off if used in the application you describe. It also will take a long time to dry. Catalyzed automotive paint is about the strongest paint you could use in thi case, but the effort is probably not worth it.
  25. Wow, that is perfect. Seeing as how the movie is kind of a live action cartoon itself... Great job.
