  1. The rims are almost done. Two different offsets, but the same width. I machined the valve stems/caps from aluminum. Half surprised I didn’t lose any of them… Still need to add the center caps/knock-offs.
  2. While the body was drying I took apart the interior. Doesn’t look like I need to do much to the dash…
  3. Glad to help Nie. I have the graphics blocked out. I used decal stripe material to frame the black areas and brushed in the fill with Tamiya X-18. The red is left over decal stock I cut to fit. I’ll either brush paint it a brighter red or make a new set of decals for those parts.
  4. The grey for the graphics was added, more Testors enamel…
  5. Yes, I use 100%, but I've heard 90 something % works too.
  6. This one is a Type LT as well. Just rolled over 275,000 miles on the odometer. I'll be taking it out for a romp tomorrow too. And thanks
  7. The second color has been applied, Testors Light Yellow enamel.
  8. Sorry to hear that Pete. It should be done by then. And thanks for adding the clarifying info about Tamiya. No, oven cleaner will not remove TS (lacquer) paints. I use alcohol to strip TS on plastic, lacquer thinner on resin.
  9. I turned the top of air cleaner from aluminum and milled the filter element from a chunk of raw resin I cast. The pleats are a bit heavy looking, but once it is all painted I think it will be OK.
  10. I got the base color for the top on. Light Gunmetal.
  11. Thanks guys. No before photos of it. I didn't take pictures of most of what I built for them, it was before digital cameras were around. I built so many (often 5+ per week) that I just video taped them rather than deal with the cost of developing film.
  12. I originally built this one for Tamiya in the early 90’s. It was on display in the Tamiya America headquarters until they closed that facility down. Most of the built-up models were moved elsewhere but there was not room for all of them and the people at Tamiya were nice enough to contact the builders and ask if we wanted some of what we built back; this is one of them. The Testors Classic White I used was already a bit too warm in color, and it had yellowed a bit more over the last 15(?) years. The decals were not holding up the best either, since I did not store it too well and it was covered in grimy dust when I pulled it out last week. The cemented on parts came off relatively easy with minimal damage and the body was hosed down with Easy Off and allowed to soak. The decals came right off; the paint needed a second application for full removal. A light coat of primer after scrubbing and some scribing. (I’ll fill the hole for the antenna in the roof.)
  13. Thanks Guys! I think part of the "problem" is that we know what a Camaro looks like and we know what a Mustang looks like. It messes with the brain (putting two very familiar designs together as one) and the result is seeing other things in the composition as well. I saw Torino, Falcon XB, Holden Commodore, 'Cuda as well as something AMC as it was coming together. Now I've seen it so much it looks normal.
  14. WIP Thread: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/109102-cayuse/?page=1 It has a 429 Hemi. The engine and under hood area are not detailed since it’s really just a curbside. There’s about the same level of detail on the chassis.
  15. The knock offs are resin pieces I mastered and cast, the Goodyears are my decals and the mirrors came from the Mustang.
  16. I figured with an engine that size it should run 15 inch rims and full sized tires. I used the Shelby wheels from the 429 Mustang kit.
  17. Then I guess it does have a Roch-Craft on it. Kinda hard to tell with the lack of detail... =)
  18. No, I think I'll keep the blob that's molded on the manifold already. FWIW, I've have no problem with Rochester carbs, (and I've had several, worked on many more), they worked great and were easy to work on when needed. The only reason I went to Holley or other carbs was when I needed a carb that delivered more than 625cfm.
  19. Even though I was going to make it a curbside, I thought it still needed an engine. So “logically” I stuffed a 1/24th scale 429 Hemi into the 1/25th scale Camaro bay…
  20. Thanks guys! I finished and installed the interior. I went with navy blue and gray (instead of black). Added a wood grained shifter to match the steering wheel. Seats and shifter are from a ’70 Camaro. I also got the taillights done.
  21. I narrowed the Mustang dash and made new mounting tabs for it so it would fit into the Camaro interior and line up with the cowl. I lengthened the package tray ½ an inch to extend all the way to the bottom edge of the rear window.
  22. Thanks guys! More progress. Glass and bumpers are installed. Screens were added in the rear side scoops and the bottom of the hood scoop is in.
  23. Thanks guys. The last of the paint is on it. (More "different"...) Next to do is the BMF window trim. I decided to put the name on the back in a similar style as a Mustang.
  24. Thanks Bruce. I’ve added the badging, new side marker lights and the side graphics. I’m going for a vinyl stripe look for the sides. That’s why there is blue around the door handles and locks
  25. Base color is on…
