What did you get for Christmas?
Smart-Resins replied to Farmer Wilding's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nothing that fancy. Jeeze I wish i could build a 1:1 model chair and a 1:1 figurine to go into it. LOL. Actually the phone company sent us some gift cards and the wife told me to use one and get whatever I wanted for Christmas, so i bought a Fire Iron today sealed in the box. One of my holy grails so to speak, and some t140 and t120 modelhaus wheels. Another semi holy grail kinda thing as Ive always wanted some ever since I saw them. Thanks to some poeple on here giving me the info i needed for the part numbers. Hopefully real soon I can get my blown flatty to go with them! LOl. Jody -

If you have what I am looking for that would be very cool! I had thought a S.C.O.T. blower was a newer version, for GM motors originally and that socal was short for Souther California speed parts. However I will admit that I am not the brightest bulb in the pack. I love cars emensly, but really dont know all of the terms. LOL. Someone had posted a green 32 some time back and had done a flatty with blower on it from RMOM they had stated if I remember correctly and I thought it was just so awsome painted in the testors one coat green!! Thanks. Jody -

What do you love about model building?
Smart-Resins replied to Clay's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That is very hard to pin point the favorite part. I enjoy the friends I have made online. I enjoy trading for parts even if its something good for what someone might call garbage cause I enjoy creating something out of nothing! Give me a body and Ill create a masterpiece from it. LOL. So I also have to say imagining it and bringing it to life. I enjoy the scratchbuilding. I am also finially starting to enjoy the painting now that I have finially found my trick to a show quality paint job. The biggest thing is having anxiety issues, it helps me to relax and get my mind off of what things dont matter and tunniling my frustrations into something good. Thanks. Jody -
Thank you. The truck will come in time. LOL. Quick update I have layed down some decals and 2 final coats of clear. She is smooth as smooth can be without polishing!! I am proud of the paint job. However the decals were gain very brittle and my flames cracked and split. I spent a hour trying to get them to lay down satisfactory. So they are not perfect. Oh well. This was for a practice run on the red anyways. But now I have to decided what kind of frame, running gear and motor to use. Any good suggestions or dobations. LOL. By the way, this was a built up glue bomb to start with, so a beautiful restoration in progress. LOL. You will notice the locals admiring the body work. HEHEHEHE. Thanks. Jody

Well, I have a 1/16 scale pro street chevy truck I am working on and wanted to try to make a cheap candy apple red paint job for it. So I decided to practice on a old built up kit I am restoring. I first layed down a good coat of black primer, then two coats of gold, then three coats of metalizer red followed immediatly by a coat of clear, then two more coats of clear. There is no wet sanding or polishing done on this yet!! I dont think I will need to do any sanding, only polishing. However I am very happy with the color, and the smoothness of the paint as well as how well it covers in the most part. I can say the metalizer is hard to cover higher areas. This was straight from the can warmed in hot water. I cant wait to get my truck body done to spray with this!! Jody

Alright, HEHEHEHEHE.Time is August 1970 and the boys are axious to get thier new custom and speed shop built so they can have more fun then they have been as shade tree mechanics. LOL. The ground has been broke. . I have decided on a layout of my diorama I will be building for my group and construction has began. Here are the humble beginnings after 5 minutes of construction. Yet to receive the other half of the front wall and have doors and windows cut out. Need to remove the silicone on the sheet plastic then glue together. After that I can start laying block and hammering on wood. LOL. What it will have is a 16 x 16 sales room, a 16 x 18 spray booth and a three bay 46 x 32 working area with bathrooms and storage area. The lot will also have room for a set of gas pumps and a sales lot. The boys really can not wait. They have already started collecting shop tools and auto projects. Thanks for your time. Jody

Smart-Resins replied to buba39's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Interesting to ooffer parts! I would love to get my hands on a truck for once. But I dont have very much to trade. What kind of stuff do you like to build!?? Jody -
It is better to not know how crazy this person is!! its like my grandfather, he has cut up and burned so much claw footed furnature, hat boxes and thrown away so much old glass! He doesnt need for money since he retired from the state and owns enough vehicles to drive 2 eacxh day of the week and never drive the same one again! But man that stuff is worth a bunch of coin. Wish he would give it away to others to sell! That guy probably also threw away some rare kits too. Maybe a few hundred bucks worth? Who knows. Do you really want to know?? LOL. Jody
