  1. Nice looking build!!
  2. I have a 4 year old boy thatjust loves model and military and is always trying to be Daddy. So this year for his birthday he will be getting a Junkers plane.See how much he can help Daddy build his plane for him.LOL
  3. This morning my seven year old daughter received her second model from me.(Third in all) Last year she got a snap tight PT cruiser at a hobby show and won a ribbon for one being the first to get one done and of course getting it done.So for Christmas I gave her a 55 nomad wagon that we are working on--big time custom pro-street.Well just taking too long and too involved. So to keep her interested in the hobby, decided to get her something fairly easy.So today for Easter she recieved the RM Kustom chopper the Gambler. Now can it be done, first get a model done in one day and second to build it box stock.Answere to the first yes unless there arises a problem.Second.........NO!! The bike is done with exception to the pipes. There was too mush flashing and cleaned poorly from the trees so we stripped them and re-chromed them.In order to not leave tell tale finger prints we will wait a day or two before attaching them.Could not keep box stock though!!Had to sand the lines out of the seat and sand the designs out of the chain gaurd. She also added a 1/8 scale carb air cleaner for the bikes air filter.I of course had to help her ALOT but she did a whole lot herself. We held the paint cans together and sprayed it so she can still say that she basically did it.I had to do all of the hard parts, but she had fun.I cant really say enough.I will let the pictures do the talking!!I will update photo once the pipes have found thier home.
  4. On my long term project brass bike, I had to drill the tree to place a pin in.On my newest trike project I cut leaving nibs just like Jairus said. However I am afraid slighly of scraping the paint when done, however I know the triple tree will fit.On my daughters bike(Easter present and almost done already) we drilled from the bottom again. On my Triumph, after taking the springer forks from a snap tight harley kit, I cut it in the middle, cut the forks under a line and drilled matching holes on both sides with a scratched pin there. Then when I place it together, I will glue the forks together at the pin and a smaller pin insideof the larger pin in the triple tree giving it plenty of strength.Howevr the easiest and most convenient I still say for the RM choppers is drilling thru the bottom.I again drilled part way into the upper tree. When I go to put it together I will put a drop of Tenax in the hole and run the pin up.Since that dries in seconds, I can twist the forks back and forth while the glue dries to assure the movement remains on the forks. My biggest question is what is the best way to attach the front tire without the forks splitting and having the tire still rotate??Is there any better way then how the manufacturer has done??
  5. Actually if the watch spring was placed inside apropriate tubing to match the tree, that would work. However dont think my patience would be high enough to attempt that.LOL
  6. I believe this problem exists on most any bike kit as they usually all that I have seen so far have the forks go through the frame, then glue the frame together. The only way I have come up with is the same as everyone else, pin from below as so it is not noticable after everything is put together, that or obtain a miniature bolt available through micr-fasteners and cut the top off of the forks, then drill the hole and tap the top of the pin and when done, screw together like a real bolt on it all would be, but I think weaker in the long run so I have stayed with the pinning through the bottom.
  7. Now you are talking. One of my favorite cars!!Just wish they made them in large scale(not 1:1 either LOL)
  8. Here real soon ill be posting some 1/16 junk lots.See where they go.
  9. Looking good so far Barry
  10. Where did you get this from??Looking nice. What scale??
  11. I really like the looks of the Hilux 4x4s.Really would like to do one though Im into the biggies.Came out nice!!My question is where does all of the 4x4 parts go??I would like to do a 4 door with the long box on it!!
  12. I think 2nd and 4th aremost convincing photos.Nice weathering!!
  13. 59 Chevy Impala....That is essentially the same thing I do.I swear by using Tenax liquid glue on basically averything. So, When a bottle is about half gone I throw some old sprue in there and use it to fill areas. There is caution to be used here.Dont gob it on as it will melt the plastic as does some of the squadron putties I have tried before.I have never had a problem sanding it, feathering it or with painting it or ghost lines(that is as long as you dont use say red on a white model)If you do use a different color I do recomened primering it well.If you use say red on a white model perhaps you should seal it first. As long as you apply thin coats, it dries in a couple of hours completly.I just love the stuff.Glad to see someone else also using the same type of method!!
  14. YEOW!!!Man that really bites. That would really tick me off.Dont care for that kind of car, but your workmanship was superb!!Now all I can say is find a Goofy figure and place him behind the wheel and make a quick diorama of Goofys day out or something.Man am I sorry!!
  15. quick update.I lowered the front by cutting a scale 2" out of the forks.Lowered the rear by extending the rear lower frame raileds a scale 2".Will adjust difference in center post for chain mounts.Cut the harley tank down to a peanut tank.Still ahve to putty and contour better.Placed the front fender on the rear and made v bars to keep things straight.Need to shave the top of the forks to lower them.

  18. If you use ample liqiud cement like tenax around the fresh joint and push together, some of the melted plastic will seep out of the joint to give you a welded appearence. If you get too much, justsand a little off.
  19. I like thesecars.Thats one I have not found in 1/16 yet though!
  20. Eh the sites there.Poeple coming and going. The regulars keep going.Bit slow right now since everyones working on models for shows.Idid not have time last night to dib into the siteyou gave me.Hopefullytonight.

  22. Thanks Zeb.Was wanting a blower on mine, but not sure now??Thinking I have a idea on the frame.Basically making it look like a regular bike frame, just elongated and side by side but coming together in the front.Single seater.I see most dont use a tranny in the back, but the unit you previously described.Just have not found any good reference pics for that yet??
  23. Thanks, that will help me designe the frame some.
