I've got a couple of touch-ups to do, but I'm ready to call this one finished. You can see some of the in-process work in my workbench thread. Here's the pics ...
  4. Fantastic! I really enjoy seeing Ricky's work continue to inspire creative modeling, and you certainly did it justice. I've got big plans for mine too, just not ready to take it on yet.
  5. Oooo, I'm liking this! Great idea!
  6. I have successfully sprayed HOK urethane clear through my Paasche VL, but I do have to thin it quite a bit.
  7. That's high-tech compared to our setup. Old industrial vacuum pump, Radio Shack project box and perforated circuit board, and some hobby foam for a seal: Cheap toaster oven and a two-piece scrap sheet metal frame to hold the plastic:

Thanks Bob! Hopefully you'll get to see it in person soon.

Well, I'm planning on using just one, so I'm sure we could work something out.

Thanks! The brakes are from The Model Car Garage. For the rotors, I used 2 of part number 2015 (they come in pairs). And the calipers are part number 707. I machined hubs for the rotor-to-spindle/axle interface, and I also "thinned down" the calipers to elimate some interference with the wheels. Hope that helps!
  11. That makes a great looking model. And your build is outstanding!
  12. I've got a stash of those as well, I just didn't know where they come from. The wall thickness looks good in scale, and they aren't too difficult to shorten. And the $46 kit would be a lifetime supply! But I haven't found them in longer lengths for the really tall stacks.

Thanks! I thought it looked convincing, but I didn't branch them off and ground on the valve cover bolts, so I'm slacking in the accuracy department.

Thanks guys! I finally got the engine and radiator installed. Not an overly detailed engine compartment, but I'm satisfied with it.
  15. Simply fantastic!
  16. Wow, great find. Thanks for posting!

Thanks guys! I've gotten a little assembly work done. So far it has gone together smoothly and sits okay, but the engine compartment is gonna be a little tricky - its tight in there.
  18. Yep, you won't get any closer than that. Alternatively, if you can find some of the Kustom Kolor "Kosmos Red", its pretty darn close when sprayed over a white base. But I have no idea if it can be found in a spray can. Here's the hood of my current project, done in Kosmos Red, on top of a Torch Red fender (sorry it looks kind of washed-out in my garage lighting).
  19. Very cool! The alclad work is fantastic!

Got some vacuforming done the past week or so. Now I've just got to make one of them fit. Also done some assembly work, with pictures to follow in the near future.
  21. I can verify that. He also offered a few new products under the new name, including a line of chrome adhesive-backed scripts and emblems, similar to those found in some foreign kits. That was about the time I lost touch with the hobby - I have no idea how long the "new" company lasted. Edit - I see Mike has arrived. Hi Mike!
  22. Looks fantastic! Kane, you build some really nice stuff!
  23. My favorite part: "The supercharger activates only when your floor the vehicle. The reason is the charger is designed to operate for no longer than 1 minute continuously because of its high velocity. This is not a problem, because if you ran your vehicle for 1 minute floored, you would be running over 200MPH."
  24. Wow, outstanding work there!
  25. Great stuff Lyle! And I also love the '36 with green steelies.
