  1. That is some exceptional work for a first-timer! Welcome to the hobby!
  2. I've finished a bunch in 20+ years, but I've only got about a dozen still in my possession. I seem to have a habit of donating them for club auctions or just giving them away to friends that really like them.
  3. That was a fantastic show! And congrats on the win Tom!
  4. No problem! We'll see you there!
  5. Just two days away. Anyone else going?
  6. Very cool build, Bob. And it looks just as exceptional in person.
  7. Nice work! I've done some 3D stuff in both SolidWorks and Inventor. Here's a couple of things for my current project:
  8. I have a few times. For the one below, I used AutoSketch, which is kind of a stripped-down version of AutoCAD. Not free, but you can find "old" versions on eBay pretty cheap. For this one, after I completed the design, I printed it to scale on plain white paper. I then laminated the sheets and used them as templates to build it in sections. The plastic weld didn't affect the lamination, so I could build right on top of the templates.
  9. I like that a lot! Great work!
  10. Outstanding work!
  11. Very nice work!
  12. My approach is similar to Jim's, but I will fill the sink with warm water and add a little dishwashing liquid to that. I don't sand under water, but I'll dip it enough to keep everything wet. And make sure your sandpaper is made for "wet or dry" sanding. If not, it will likely fall apart quickly.
  13. Welcome! I'm currently using ... Zap-a-Gap for my superglue needs, Plastruct General Purpose Plastic Weld for bare plastic joints, 30-min epoxy for a large part of assembly, especially joints that need careful alignment, and Aleene's glues for clear parts, some photoetch parts, and mock-up assembly. For putty, I really like Evercoat Glazing Putty.
  14. Same answer here. And if I'm using automotive clear, I'll follow it up with a good automotive wax as well.
  15. Nicely done, Virgil! The flip-flop paint really "fits" this car. And the Ricky Couch version you mentioned is still around and in good hands. I'll try to get some pics when I get the chance.
  16. Wow, that's wild! Gonna be watchin' this one!
  17. Nicely done! Looks great in black, and I kinda like the wheels.
  18. Some neat stuff there. Thanks for the pics!
  19. Thanks for the pics, Gary! And holy cow, what a sheet of PE!
  20. Awesome subject, looking forward to seeing more!
  21. Our weekend car is the '76 Vette in my avatar. My daily driver is the '03 Dakota that sneaked into the 2nd pic.
  22. That's just gorgeous. I especially like the interior design - perfect compliment to the exterior.
  23. I have that one as well, and yes it is really nice. And I've got this one sitting right beside it. Love the Danbury cars.
  24. Great, look forward to seeing some updated pics. If you're up for trying something else, I'd recommend you attempt to blackwash the grille - I think you'd be really happy with the result.
