Issue 226 is On Its Way

I hope it gets here soon. Been waiting. -
Andy, I just may have to actually do a copy of what he wants his car to look when done. I think that the 1969 AMT Olds Cutlass 442 engine could be used to replicate my sons 403 Olds he has in his. Tim

You just need a 4 door Plymouth Valiant to complete it. Great build

@zaina I got the kit yesterday. Looks great. Now to build it so my youngest doesn't see it. He has a 77 Lemans Tim

A number of years ago. I picked up some resin conversion parts to convert the MPC 72 GTO to a 71. off Ebay. It was front and rear seats, better fitting rear bumper, a few other bits. All those parts were used in a then current build. It was completed and since disappeared. (not even showing up in a recent move.) Anyhoo, I am wanting to build another 71 GTO. Does anyone know if these parts are available anymore? Doesn't have to be resin can be 3d printed. Thanks, Tim

2024 Cannonball Run Restomods Build Thread
Tim H replied to White Rabbit's topic in Community Builds
Wow, everyone is off to a great start. My first cannonball build was the 66 Chevelle wagon. With a LS swap. Did it as a sleeper even built a baby seat for the back seat. Got ridiculed at a contest about it. Because I entered it in the race class. Wish I could find the model but its disappeared. Still trying to figure out my build. Have to check my stash of kits. Tim -
I would think that the rules should contain: No mods to the body, must appear stock. AKA restored. factory options OK. Chassis swaps only for better detail. Revell 69 Camaro chassis under the MPC 69 Firebird. Must have engine cover. AKA hood, may use factory hood scoops at original height. May use any engine/ transmission combination subject to perceived horsepower, IE twin turbo LS in a Vega. Restomod is a vintage body with modern upgrades for comfort, reliability, handling. Not look like a racecar, no roll cages. Maybe subtle roll bar OK. Tim

Sounds like fun, Just need to figure out what kit. Maybe it will also be my Cannonball run entry too. However, its not like I never had two projects going at once. Usually several. LOL Tim

While not the official poll, here are some of the counts going by liking in the thread. #1 is Radwood with 11 mentioned liking #2 is service vehicles with 8 liking #3 is a three way tie Resto-mod, Cannonball GPS and wagon/hatchbacks All the other mentioned as a theme are tied a 2 mentions each. This list is what I seen as liking a particular build. Again not an official poll or anything like that. We also could roll some themes together wagons and hatchbacks can be in Restomod as could 4 door. luxury,Full size, swinging 70s. even Radwood. All a matter of build subject and where it goes. Remember the cannonball is an outlaw race across the country. Doubt many stock 78 Camaros could hold up to the task. Look at some of the 1:1 scale Cannonballers. Most all are highly modified race vehicles. Tim

On a different note. I now know what I am going to do with my recently purchased 1993 Ford Aerostar. It is going Radwood style especially the sound system. As I have a lot of Radwood era sound equipment. LOL Tim
-
I like the work vehicle idea. or the 4 door. Maybe a T.V.S (truck, Van, or SUV? Tim

With 2024 a little over a month away. It is time for ideas for the 2024 running of the Cannonball Run. Some ideas I have: We could redo the sleeper ball it was popular. how about the entries being older than you are. For me it would be anything prior to 1964. Tim

Cool, theme. can it be the first car I owned that there is a kit of. I still haven't found a kit of a 69 Chrysler Imperial Lebaron 4 door. I may have to venture east. Tim

This is Highway patrolman Williams of the Ohio State Police. I have taken over this fellers account for now. I want you to know that we in Ohio have no tolerance for speeders. So all you scofflaws and law breakers. Come race time we will be ready for you. -
Yeah it would, provided I can find them since I moved. Tim
-
So, has the theme been selected? I have candidates for either one. I'll just need to find them. Tim
