Hi there Tom thanks for bring up the topic .I think all builder go through this but its all about moderation. You need to set a time limit to building and like Dr . says here take breaks it helps. For myself I build for a hour in the morning before work and a few hours in the evening you'd be surprized to how much you get done.
1951 Chevy Bel Air gasser this build started out as a convertible and I made it a hard top.I added a small block chevy engine, straight front axle, traction bars and put the rear diff below the springs to give the car a raked look.
I too have used lacquer thinner for testors paint and other enamel paints it works awesome. The paint drys quick and is always glossy for the most part. Also if any of you want to spray bare metal with this mixture it works well with no primer.
Hi there jb well here is a vw lowering tip for you since I use to have many 1:1 scale vws the proper and custom way of lowering the front end was to move the upper and lower ball joints arms up or use shorter shocks to get the front nice and low.For the back end I use to raise the torsion plates up that is what holds the trans axle in place.I to have done this to model kits looks more realistic.Hope that tip helps out for future builds.
Hi Rich well here is something that works and this is what I do I offen look for ideas on youtube .For example just type a keyword like junk yard or gasser or what ever you enjoy building then you may see some ideas and researching other forums and even using google images helps.Another good place to get ideas is classic car trader.Well hope that gives you some ideas.
I think we all have the same idea when it comes to scratch building and what ever your building sometime give you a thrill. Its always nice to build something different and make a model more interesting for yourself and others who are looking at your builds.I to thank Dr for posting this thread.I hope inspires all.
