  1. I agree John, I think the 57 will be red, and I'll keep an eye out for yours Jim, I like the sound of it and hope you post it when you get to it, meanwhile here's a little progress, did some interior work, looks like I need to thin down the horn ring, and made a rear window and a molding to go around it
  2. Thanks for the teaser, it's going to look good in front of that new reefer !
  3. Thanks Matt, I've known about that Oct show for a couple years but in October I'm sittin' in a big green combine, or working on it on rainy days, no days off that time of year
  4. I was there too, it was a nice show, lots to look at and a good swap meet, scored some nice stuff myself looking forward to next year
  5. Here's some of the work on the 57. Finding a suitable kit to start with was a lot tougher than I thought, all the Nomad kits I could find seemed poorly proportioned, the Monogram kit has a strange looking windshield opening and side trim is way too wide for the available photo etch pieces, the old Revell kit with the opening doors is a warped thin brittle and poorly engraved piece. Finally took the AMT pro shop 57 hardtop kit and the Monogram Nomad kit to make it. The AMT is 1/25, Monogram is 1/24 but the wheelbase is the same and the width at tailights is the same ???
  6. Started the 55 Nomad pickup conversion several years ago with the old AMT trophy series kit and finally finished it up, I was pretty happy with it other than pickup bed seems kinda unfinished. Now I wondered how a 56 might look done the same way but with much a more finished bed area. Halfway through the 56, a 57 seemed like the next member of the family so I started that one too. Here's where they are today. What do ya think ? used the top from a newer AMT Nomad kit, wish I hadn't it's some kind of strange rubbery brown plastic, very hard to work with almost went with more of a stock look ended up a little more custom and lowered
  7. WoW looks fantastic ! so glad to see the 1 piece sides and roof too. can't hardly wait.!!
  8. Thanks everyone, I'll do a wip on the '55-6-7 el caminos, that should help me stay motivated to finish them, and yes he's a great dog, my wife brought him home for me when my 19 year old (yes 19 years) Husky passed on, and by the way Andy, I still play with my tractors
  9. Been watching this forum for a while now, a LOT of great stuff here and thought I would introduce myself before I join in. Looking at other peoples work here has really inspired me to try to master the basics and improve my skills. Built models on and off forever, but got serious about it 3 years ago when I finally got a dedicated work space, and now enjoy plastic more than ever. I'll have some work to share and questions too. You can always find both big rigs and cars on my bench. lives for frisbee and naps in that order, hooby room is nice and warm in winter ! some trucks going to change out front tires for some resin floats almost done, just a few details needed
  10. That is really nice, well done !, but don't sign me up for the "steering" job on this thing
  11. Very Nice ! great use of the Corvette styling
  12. Just got the big one myself last month, it takes 12 x 20 x1 filter, looks like any pleated type furnace filter. I never e-mailed him but he answered the phone when I called. got free freight. Booth is NICE !! very well made, quiet and works great, the overspray just disappears, it exceeds my expectations. you won't regret buying one.
  13. Looks good so far, nice job on the top swap, looking forward to seeing more of this one
  14. I was in high school at that same time and I'm pretty sure our library had that same book, it was hard cover with a dust jacket, lots of B&W pictures, I can't remember the model that was in the picture on the dust jacket but I remember checking it out many times. When ever I'm at the used book store I look for it but it never turns up. There have to be some copies still around though.
  15. Great work on this one, very authentic, it looks almost exactly like one our local volunteer fire department has restored for parades
  16. Thanks for the info guys, it sure didn't look like any cat motor I had ever seen, and I have never built any of the Scania kits...........yet.
  17. Bought a project truck that had this motor with it, never seen one before, it appears to be 1/25 or 1/24 scale, and is red plastic under the paint, seller called it a cat motor. Does anyone know what it is and where it might have come from ?
  18. look in tips tricks and tutorials on this forum, instructions are pinned at the top
