  1. That wood is quite striking. I really like it.
  2. They can make quite respectable projects, as seen at NNL North 2011.
  3. In illustration, as in photography, light is everything and you see it my friend.
  4. Just another day at the office where I work.
  5. I still have mine from, what, 1971? The Knights of Columbus recruited us kids to sell poppies for charity downtown on a Saturday morning. With my cut, my best friend and I went to Woolworths and I bought this for 49-cents. I always kept it for sentimental reasons.
  6. That's quite an amazing effect.
  7. Thank you, Thank you for posting this. I have one of those resin bodies too, but I don't have the donor kit to know what it looks like built up and on fenders. You've got a great start.
  8. Question. Though early registration is past, this form can be used to fill out ahead of time and bring to the registration table. It shows $40 to enter a model. Am I correct in understanding that's $40 for one entry so 2 models = $80? As opposed to $40 covers X number of entries per entrant like many other shows?
  9. Very resourceful. Everything came together well.

The centerlines make all the difference. An astute choice.
  11. Another lovely contribution Harry.
  12. Spraying flat then rubbing it out can offer a semi gloss.
  13. The problem with detailed descriptions are there just aren't enough hours during the event to contemplate every minutiae of each model. Heck there isn't enough time as a gawker to read all of them. State concisely the high points, one sentence or less for each point. Much of the rest may be visually obvious and needs no description; ("engine wired and plumbed, hand polished paint, BMF," etc).
  14. Unbuildable? Never. Undesirable? More likely. I'm not sure I know the joys of a crisp new high end kit because I'm such a fan of the cruddy old ones that it's all I know. Making lemonade out of lemons or even making apples out of lemons is modeling.
  15. Absolutely fab. The muted colors are striking and everything else looks flawless.
  16. Would the word "cute" be appropriate? I've got to get on board with your weathering technic.
  17. Brilliant. Why didn't I think of that? Don't answer that.
  18. I thought what you did before was pretty good, but your revisions really ring true. Good second effort.
  19. Which brings up something I've been meaning to PM you about sometime. I recall a lot of really great unfinished concepts you've posted to this site or another. I'd like to request that you start a thread showing all the cool primer projects and start ups you've done, maybe with a note or two. Finished or not, they're inspirational. Any thoughts?
  20. The way you're going about it, this will be quick and simple and still look wonderful (the beauty of all black). I enjoyed my "T" project so much I considered doing one like you're doing, but not right now. I hear you about the wheels. Doing them in wood really does add interest to an all black Model T.
  21. Thanks Carl, and all of you for the kind words. Jim, the crank thing started bugging me so I tried researching it and I don't see any examples of the crank being out of an operational vehicle so I think you're right. That thing dangling out while driving didn't make sense to me but I think I'm going to glue it in.
  22. Very observant. I wanted it on the floor when I took the pics but forgot until I was almost done and didn't want to reshoot. I don't know much about Model Ts but I didn't think folks left it in except when starting so I'd like to display it with it on the floor.
  23. I would've been glad to offer them to you Jim since I knew I'd never use them, but someone already scooped them up during the build. Thanks to everyone for the good vibes. I appreciate your kindness. I welcome all comments.
  24. And DONE! Please view the glamour shots here.
