  1. Yeah, that's a sad development. He was an asset around here.
  2. The scale difference is probably troubling enough to fend off all but the bold.
  3. Very carefully crafted and well thought out stuff. You've added to the inspiration.
  4. This is so cool and so different. Very well executed.
  5. Really superb. I love to see collectible kits done to a level few modelers can achieve. Excellent on everything.
  6. I happened to come across this profile photo of a real car and decided to do a little comparo. Guess what, the model isn't as disproportional as I thought. There are some vertical differences and the door doesn't line up exact, but for the most part, not too bad.
  7. I look forward to the source being cited on this on Friday, because it's got all the markings of CG rendering. If it's a model, to my eye it's been deceptively altered so I'm going real.
  8. Congratulations Brayden, nicely done. Don't forget to enter it in the final lineup after Dec. 1. The Caprice is becoming exciting. Love the extra touches. That console is brilliant. Paint actually touched my PT Cruiser last night so I'm happy that forward motion has resumed a little.
  9. Precisely. Maybe as a SLR, but not on the Indy track. Fine on the street as a novelty, anything different is good. But maybe it's time to put this in the archives of concepts that have been explored, learned from and retired.
  10. Not too late Jeff, hop in. It's only too late if you start after Dec. 1st.
  11. This is a great idea. The thing that throws off the model I built was the poorly proportioned top and its fit. Swap in something else and you've got a real attention getter because, as Randy shows, the other simple details are good.
  12. Well, now you have to tell us what happened. Just give us the family version. You boys sure have a good looking project going here.
  13. My first job ever was at a camera/photofinishing store. The modern incarnation of that store only just recently quit selling film. Kodak still makes select 35mm roll film. It may be getting harder to buy walk-in film and processing, but the product and service is still being offered. NPR did a story about editing digital photos on the fly eliminates the junk photos you used to keep when your whole roll got developed. In those throw-aways were often treasured glimpses of things you didn't intend to shoot or had no value to you at the time, but later becomes more interesting. Since they were hard copies they sat with the rest of your pack for decades. Digital allows us to trash them as fast as we shoot them.
  14. Colloquially: 's'Cales (it's Cales).
  15. (For placement only, not mine.) Impressive Ray, even got the Micro Machine.
  16. Glad to see you're not derailed by the unfaithful. The kit does have, shall we say, personality. But some of its details are lovely and I enjoyed building mine. Though I don't enter it in contests, I do display it and it's always a popular conversation starter. Gotta go with Ace in saying there's a lot of custom potential.
  17. Lovely photo. GF and I drove an hour into MN lakes country and sat on the upper deck of a woodsy, rural supper club, sat close, sipped wine and watched it unfold for 2-hours. Clouds cleared just in time. Everyone on that deck was there for watching. Later, GF insisted we find a dark road with no visible lights to fully view the sky. Add this to the list of pleasant memories.
  18. If i have to see a rare and treasured kit get built, I take great pleasure in seeing it done with love and care like this one. Just superb Steve.
  19. Lookin' pretty tough there Big J. From trailer queen to street freak. You've made it believable, nice work.
  20. What a glorious custom. Not sold yet on the redlines but everything looks very exciting. Nice photography choices too.
  21. X2.
  22. Fantastic. Your weathering is perfect. I'd like to do a similar project using a large box of Zoids parts I picked up at a flea market.
  23. I bought a bottle marked Turquoise and looking more closely it appears to be an exact repop of the Boyd Pacific Blue, but in the 1/4oz. bottle
  24. For those folks in the upper midwest, I just discovered an amazing display of Testers enamel paints in the home decor section of Fleet Farm. More color range and better stocked than what I've seen at Hobby Lobby or the LHS. Not marketed as model paints, specifically. Just enamels, not Model Master or acrylics.
  25. I inherited all my dad's architectural tools (40's thru 70's). I can't tell if it was used to design buildings or navigate sailing ships.
