call me stupid but
Lunajammer replied to bubbaman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I find liquid glue from the bottle much too thin for my liking and it seems to evaporate before any quality bonding takes place. However, I thicken it a bit with tube glue for the consistency I like best and now I use it pretty much all the time. -
Not everyone can pony up, but if you can't there's an easy answer. Put the subscription on your Xmas or birthday wish list. It's a fairly low cost effort for somebody who doesn't know what to get you and doesn't want to spend an arm and leg. I haven't paid for a subscription yet and I also haven't missed an issue in a couple years .

Willys Woody 1941
Lunajammer replied to zelkam's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
This is really beautiful. Excellent vision and workmanship. I like it a lot. -
I don't know enough about David Fincher to put him in the Best Of category, but I thought his directing in Fight Club was superb. LIke the directing itself was as much a character of the movie as the characters and story.

It's more feasible with slower, lightweight cars. Some solar powered cars use lever steering to save space, however I'm not sure the whole axel pivoting would be stable. Fun to play with though. Reminds me of a push go-cart I built as a kid.

X2. First name that came to mind, pretty much for the same reasons. I'd include Alien too in terms of films that changed a genre. Ron Howard is worthy enough, just didn't come to mind first. Kind of shame really, he's earned it.

Cool. I always thought the shared microphone was a stage thing. Studio short of mics?

It all looks right. Great job. I'm guessing you've modeled other subjects because your technique is excellent.

Beautiful. Looks almost real. The wheels make it.

One seroius stash...Humor
Lunajammer replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, it certainly appears to be an attention getting vendor display. The lower boxes don't look too stressed so there is probably a framework that not only holds it up from behind but possibly at different levels too. It wouldn't make any sense to have such a display then not be able to sell a box without a plastic avalanche. -
AMX GT SHOW CAR RESIN KIT
Lunajammer replied to MoonshineAndChrome's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yup, go for it. Since it was only a static concept car, I would think you might have more success and fewer headaches if you left chassis and running gear up to the buyer. Focus your efforts on the body, trim, glass and interior. Add a chassis plate if you must. Your price would then be more affordable to more builders and you could do two moldings up front to keep future production costs down and raise your production goal at the same time, assuming the demand for more than 25 will be there. I know you're targeting the motivated buyer who will spend big coin for a limited production full kit. But you'll find more people promise to buy than who actually buy. I hope you post your progress in the Resin section. -
Local Hobby Shp vs. Mega-Store
Lunajammer replied to CometMan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I support our LHS when I can, even when it means ordering things. He carries what he can but he can't afford a large inventory. For that reason, he doesn't always have what I need. -
You are a master. I see many problem areas that you solved perfectly. Excellent.

How much BMF gets tossed?
Lunajammer replied to Fanof69's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've gotten pretty good with precuts, especially where long lengths are concerned, so my waste has dropped quite a bit. If I come up short on a precut I stick it back onto the sheet for later. I estimate I waste 25-percent, but that might be optimistic bias. I just know I haven't bought a sheet for a few years. -
And rightfully so. They called Ringo the glue of the group, but George Martin was the glue of their recordings, gelling their musical thoughts. RIP.

Wondering about all the Forum's members...
Lunajammer replied to Ramfins59's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I think a lot of them are sort of passing through. I'm kind of the same way on a PT Cruiser forum. Was pretty stoked about participating when my Cruiser was new and I pop in from time to time still, but mostly I sort of moved on. I prefer to think that a bad experience is not why members here moved on. -
The patina/rust thing
Lunajammer replied to Earl Marischal's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A late thought to this topic. Though I'm pretty much okay with most of it, I finally found my photo that illustrates where I draw the line to the whole patina thing. This was a gorgeous 55 Buick wagon that sat at a classic car dealer for a few months. Someone finally bought it, sanded the gorgeous paint in a ridiculous random wear pattern, clearcoated it, added custom wheels and boasted about what trendy rod he had. . -
Nice detailing and a fine looking finished product. This one's always been on my watch list, but I'm confident it'll be rereleased, so I'll wait.

This is so prevalent, that I think you should go to the Under Glass section and invite folks to post pics of theirs. I'd love to see how people have cobbled together their creations.

The joke is kangaroo poaching can be a problem in Australia. PM on Hells Kitchen.

Scott, there was a couple from Minneapolis who came up for it, so if you hear of anything like this down there, please post it here. My GF and I go there several times a year, I'd bring my cars. A few more pics... Classic from the late 60s ran good and a new police car with lit, flashing LED strobes. The crazy cut one was awarded most unique design.
