  1. Got a good pair of reading glasses for doing them 1.75 magnification.
  2. Not much done yet, still have the engine, and some suspension left. Then it's off to paint. The hair pins radius rods on this are just that Hair thin. You sneeze, and they're gone.
  3. I have used velvateen which is like velour only thinner. Best way to attach this is to back it with masking tape, and use a white glue to put it in with. I prefer Aileen's Tacky Glue for this, as it is thicker than Elmer's. Also with the tape in place you wont get the fuzzy edges. This also works for corduroy.
  4. This is what I have been working on for the last week. I started with a copy of a print, and drew up my own plans to try to duplicate it. I still have to do the base yet, but the building is done. Here are a few pics. More pics at the link. http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/mercma.../Race%20Garage/
  5. Here the screen has been added, along with white glue mixed with water, and spritzed on the screen. The I threw real dirt on it to stick. Base coat was flat black with gray spray paint over it. Cut a bunch of tire in half, and painted them with craft paints, and added gras from model railroading supplies. And finally a finished shot of the dio. Hope this helps you out. If you use dirt, I sifted mine 2-3 times through various size mesh till I got the size I wanted. Also dilute white glue like Elmers 50-59 with water.
  6. Hope this helps you out. Here is the base it's 2x2 ft. square. I cut the wedges at a 7 degree angle. Added dowel rods to hold the fence. Covered it with window screen. Them mixed a batch of Durham's water putty for wood, and smoothed it on.
  7. A stock 49. The owner wanted a box art version of the stock model. This is the first all stock Merc I've done in 20 years. Mercman
