  1. Here's a color combo idea for you. I did this one in HOK Candy Rootbeer over Pagan Gold base. Roof is are Testor's Light Ivory, and interior was done in acryllic Antique White craft paint, (waterbase). I used the wheels and tires from Amt 49 Merc. I built this for my best friend for his Birthday. He had a 64 like this in High school, ut never got it to this color like he wanted. Mercman
  2. George, put a poster up at the local hobby shop with the info about the club. List name, and contact number if you want, or place where you are going to meet. Keep the rules simple, but try to have some kind of structure for your meetings. Mercman
  3. 21 or 22 years, can't remember back that far. I'm old. Mercman Founding member of Valley Modeler's Assn.
  4. Okay here's the process. First up this is what you need . 1/8th, 3/16th, 5/32nd tubing. File Mitre Box, and saw, or tubing cutter File Super glue X-Acto knife. Ruler Measure and cut the 3/16th, and the 5/32nd one inch each. Take the X-acto, and clean out the ends. Put a drop of superglue into the 5/32nd, and insert the 3/16th into this, making sure the ends are flush. Cut the 1/8th tubing to 1-1/2 inches, mark 1/8th inch from one end, add a drop of glue into the previous step, and insert 1/8th tubing with 1/8 inch out of each end. These will be your inlet, and outlet connectors. This is tthe finished product mouted on 3/32nd tubing for my exhaust header. Now you can paint them, rust them, or detail however you wish. Total time to make about 5 min's.
  5. Okay you asked. This is after I straightened up the shelfs.
  6. Today we held the 15th Annual POTP Contest here are a few pics, and the link to more. More here. http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/mercman51/POTP%2015/
  7. They do come in handy. I have one like we had back in grade school. 15"er. I use it quite often.
  8. That's why I have 3 sets of reading glasses.
  9. This is my newest project. Photo was used with permission of the artist, Dale Klee. I will be doing it in 1/87th. Comments welcome.
  10. This are 1/25th
  11. Here's one I did using Angel Hair for the smoke. Tinted with a light spray of flat black. Here is another, but no smoke. I still have about 5 more yet to build.
  12. Here is my latest build that I'm working on. This, and 14 others Here it is in primer. Adding some color. Have a long way to go yet. Have to make up the interiors for it yet. Plus some painting to be done. Comments, or suggestions welcome.
  13. Actually there is a spray preserative to keep the leaves looking good. Also like Ed mentioned, a cover coat will work.
  14. I needed some small leaves for a dio I'm doing so I went to Mother Nature's house and got some 1-1 from her. these I put into a blender, after baking them for 20 minutes on low heat to kill anything living, and dry them some more. Oh yeah I got the blender at a thrift shop for a couple bucks. Set it on chop mode, and got this. Has to go through one more time to get them finer, but you get the idea. Also at the house now, we have some bright yellow colored leaves that will be collected. Now is the time to stock up on vegetation soon winter will be here, at least in ND anyhow.
  15. I do too. Back in High School I had a 1-1 47 Ford PU. Wish I still had it. The one in the dio is a vacuum cast of the Magnuson Models 46.
  16. Here's a link to pics of making cabinets. I didn't do this one but saved the pic's for reference. http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/mercman51/Cabinets/
  17. Here is a link to making scale cabinets. I can't take credit for the idea, as I don't remember who did them. Just follow the pics, and you'll get an idea. As to your other ?'s, #1. either lay it out and paint it, or find shelf paper. #2 Window material you can find large sheets of celluloid, or the old report covers we used in school for term papers. #3 See above. #4 Use Basswood, not balsa. A little bit more pricey, but better to paint. For your base use a good plywood, that has been sealed (painted) Hope this helps. http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/mercman51/Cabinets/
  18. The guy I built this for we have been friends for 53 years now. We were best man at each others weddings, and both of us are godfathers to each others daughters. I;ve knpown him since we were 3 years old. I'm also doing a car for his wife, and son. I did one a while back for his daughter.
  19. This is a build I did for my best friend. Back in High School he has a 64 Impala. He always wanted to do repaint it candy root beer, but with wages at $1.95 hour, you couldn't afford the shop tiome. It took me a while but I got this one made for him as a birthday gift. I started with a 1.00 glue bomb painted red, and finished it off like this. Color is HOK Candy Pagan Gold base, with Candy Rootbeer over it. Top is Testors Light Ivory, and the interior is acrylic Antique White. The tires, and rims are from AMT 49 Merc kit.
  20. The former occupants of this building lost their lease, so the landlord is sprucing it up for the now occupants.
  21. I'm hoping I can scan the dry transfer graphics and make some decent decals out of them to keep away from the thick dry transfer graphics. If the decal making experiment works out, I have some special plans for the back wall. What I am thinking is a “Please do not paint on the wall" sign with the do not part of the sign spray painted over and graffiti on the wall in a couple of different places. Here are some ideas for you for the graffiti. Theses are from Blair Line, they are HO scale, and are available from Walther's.Or check you LHS, in the train dept. I used one on this building I am doing. BTW I love the games.
  22. I've used the 3/32nd Plastruc tubing with great results. Here you can see it forming protection for the front engine bay. I also used it to build the entire roll cage. Bends easily with your fingers, and glues up nice. I use their cement, of superglue to glue it.
  23. The issue was #24 the Mercury issue. The whole thing was devoted to Mercury models. The Revell Merc is a good kit, you wont be disappointed.
