Here's my current project. Here are some side, and front shots. And finally, Myron is at it again. After tagging the building that Tony was working on, he decided he was thirsty. However not being of legal age, he cope's a attitude with the owner.

Ed when it comes to this gas stations you are the best.

Thanks Mark, this is one of many I currently have going on. Jim, the Aurora cars you had are closer to 1/64 scale. Like a Matchbox, or Hot Wheels car. If you think thats small check out my 49 Ford. The black Merc is 1/87th, the yellow 49 is 1/120th N scale

Michael Paul Smith's Incredible dioramas and models
Mercman replied to Sixties Sam's topic in WIP: Dioramas
Most of the cars are Franklin Mint, and Danbury cars, along with some models. He did however scratch build most of the buildings. The diner is a work of art in itself. -
Pete the painter was hired to repaint a old building to be redone for a new tenant. When no one was around her comes Myron Fernadez, to check on the progress, and admire his painting skills. When Pete came back from lunch to finish the job, he has a confrontation with the youngster. As you can see Myron is coping a attitude. But then what do expect of a kid who drives this. This little beast is a new 1/87th Hot Wheel. This is all in 1/87th scale. The building is till a WIP.

God that brings back memories. My ex ol lady and the bike I had are now in Montana. She hated the bike. Something about the rear seat. ( It was a P pad style on a rigid frame).

I too am with Junkman on this. I like traditional style rods, but this is really nice. Great job.

Easy way to remember is in 1/24th, 1/2 inch = 1 foot. 1/4"=6", and 1/8"=3". So a door opening of 36X84 would be 1 1/2"W X 3 1/2" H.

Thanks that's the effect I wanted to achieve. Getting it ready for the car show circut, pre final paint. Thanks Tim. Your Corvette is one I would own if they did a full size one. You did a great job on it. I hope to send the 32 down for the Bama show, if I can get someone to take it. It could be displayed with the others.

I too was in the same contest mentioned by Tim. I built a 32 ford coupe that pre-dates the Rat Rod craze of today.Basically OLD SKOOL HOT ROD style. The contest was about Rat Rod builds, with just a few rules as to how they could look. Lots of stiff competition from the other entrants. So here are a few pics of mine. "What do you mean it's done? It don't look done to me." All of the pics can be seen here. Finished, and in progress pics. http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/mercman51/My%20Models/Contest%20Build/

Tim being up against you in the contest, and watching this one come to be was great. I too don't real care for Corvette's, except the 63, 65 StingRay's, I got to admit this one I like. You did a great job. Like you I also didn't place but then I didn't think I would. It was some tuff competition we were up against.

I have had good results with my X-acto saws. both regular, and the jeweler's. The thing I found with the jewelers saw is you got to have the blades really tight.

I got all 1/87th stuff. Prieser Bus Riders, Ricko 32 Ford red, Pikes stuff Truck Terminal, Woodland Scenic's Auto Scenes Peter's Painter's, Doc Watson, weathering powders, and a assortment of over 200 doors, and window kit. We also got 18 inches of snow, and the wind. The interstates were closed till today, and have cleaned the driveway 3 times.

Okay it's a bit later. The story on the catalogs is this. Many years ago I wrote Ed a letter. He wrote me back, and I did some work for him finding a old Army buddy of his that lived here in N.Dak. I located the guy, and they were able to get in touch with each other again. So he sent me these catalogs for helping him out. That is how I got them. Ed I miss you buddy.

I'm a Roth freak, I'd like to build all his kits, I'm missing the Dragnut, Mother's Worry, & the Beatnik Bandit 2. I have done these two so far, still have the Angel Fink, Mr. Gasser, and the rest yet to do. Here's something that might be really rare. Yes 2 Roth T-shirt catalogs, sent to me by Ed himself. There is a neat story behind these. More later.

Here is another JoHan, this was the Heavenly Hearse kit. How about a HO scale one. This one is made by Busch.

For the Evergreen plastic try Tenax, or another brand suitable for that type of styrene. On resin 5 Minute epoxy, or a good super glue will work.

Here's a parts box special I built many years ago. It now resides in Colo. in a friend of mine's collection. The roll cage, and all the bars are 3/32nd plastruc tubing, scratchbuilt design. Mercman
