Well the first coat of ground cover is done. Here is the basic shape. Then I mixed up 1/2 batch of Cellu-clay, first time using this, and did this. Will have to add something else to define the flat areas, and the road. The base will be painted using the Fleck Stone paint.

They are smaller. Matchbox is 1/64th, and I will be using 1/87th. The cars pictured are Tootsie Toy's. Except for the blue Merc which is 1/87th. Also the Orange(actually it's pink) sedan by the garage is a HW car.
  5. Addition to the previous how to. http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/mercman51/Tutorials/32%20Ford%20%20Big%20Scale/Channeling/

Finally getting down to some more work on this one. Here is a mockup of what I've done so far. Waiting for the styro foam to dry. Theses aren't the cars that will be used, but used for the mock up purpose.
  7. The 40 Fords are for the other projects I got going on. But I'll figure out something.
  8. Danny going to do it in a washed out white, or grey, with a black wash. Going for the old creepy worn look. Still haven't decided yet on how to display it. Should I do it like the movie, or go another direction. I have a few ideas either way.
  9. Got it sub-assembled last weekend, hoped to get it in primer, but the weather didn't co-operate.
  10. Charlie, I contacted Jarius to get his permission to copy yhe print. He stated that as long as I only used it for this, and didn't try to sell or pas it off as mine(the print) he was okay with it. As for doing it in 1/25th. go for it. I believe that Jarius would be honored. Here is another that I am also doing. This one is a Dale Klee print. It was copy righted, so I wrote and got his permission to use it. He has quite a collection of interesting subjects that are good diorama fodder. Here is a link to his art. http://www.oldcarart.com/
  11. Here's a forced perspective pic I just shot.
  12. Okay here's the mock up ready for paint. Here is the plans I drew up first then the build itself. What do you think so far. The 40 Ford pictured is a Tootsie Toy just used for the photo.
  13. Here is the article from Car Model mag from 1964. http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/mercman51/Tutorials/32%20Ford%20%20Big%20Scale/
  14. Found these down in the shop Thought maube they might help out for someone.
  15. Len there are many ways you could do this. Here are 2 examples where I used the back side of a piece of Masonite for the concrete look. On this one I just shot it with grey primer, and dusted a little flat black on it. The stains were done using dirty thinner. On this one I did the same, only added sidewalk to it. Another way would be to cast it in plaster. This one I used Smooth It for the concrete. A tip about this stuff though. Rough up the surface a little to give it some bite. I forgot and it all slid off. Or also as mentioned above the Fleckstone Paint works good also. Hope this helps out. You may want to check here for ideas also. http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/mercman51/DIO%20Book/ This is Ken H.'s book on dio making.
  16. Go for it. I did a bunch for a friend of mine on another board. Also check out the poster sections, and garage art section. You may find something useable.
  17. This is for Dave, and whoever may want to tackle this one. I Googled the Bates Motel, and got these. Good color reference and of course Momma More here at the link. http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/mercman51/HO%20buildings/Bates%20Mansion/Psycho%20Ref%20pics/
  18. Just added some new signs to my album. Check them out. You'll have to re-size them to the scale you need. though. The rest are here. http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/mercman51/Signs/
  19. Here's a pic of the Bate's Motel from Universal Studios. The office, and Norman. George here's a 59 Ford in Ho scale.
  20. Those of you who ordered books from me, please PM me again, and let me know if you received them or not. I still have 3 orders to fill, and want to make sure the payments didn't get lost.
  21. Just returned from the LHS with this in hand. Cost was $34.95 plus tax. Upon first inspection this is a very nicely done kit. Round 2/Polar Lights has done a nice job on this one. There is no flash to be trimmed, the casting's are crisp, and the instructions are done well. Also a battery box, and LED light are included with it. The window graphics are printed on clear acetate, and it is molded in 2 shades of gray. Also tips on detailing the kit to set the scene are included. Don't forget though this one is 1/87th scale. Lots of possibilities for the display of this one. IMHO highly recommended kit to have. should be starting this one soon.

  23. That would be great, however this will be in 1/87th scale. I sold off most of my 1/25th scale kits. Still have a few left, some I just couldn't part with. Most of my work now is HO scale. No I don't have a train layout, but do have some train stuff to use a background pieces for some dio's I have planned.
  24. Found these the other day. 67 Chevelle, and a drag version of the Purple Passion. Also got a Snorkel fire truck, and a skid steer loader. These are darn close to 1/87th, and with a little detail painting they should be good background pieces.
