The work crew showed up today to start leveling off the area. I think it will take them a while with so little equipment. Here it is all laid out, just have to trim thee sheets, and add a base.

Action on turn 2. More action in the corners, better get the rescue team alerted. The track will be banked all the way around, with a 3 degree on the straights, going into a 7 degree on the corners Also I'm looking for entries for this diorama. I plan on holding a race scenario in Oct. So if anyone would like to build a 1/87th car to participate let me know. I have commitments fro 9 others so far. If you remember the K&J Kruise that Ken H. did a few a years ago, this will be something like that. There will be 2 classes of cars, 1948 and older, and 1949 to 1974. They must look like a car that will run on dirt, not asphalt. For more info contact me.

Track construction has begun. Here's a birds eye view of the track, with the colored area representing the infield. Now how about some action shots. First up is the pace lap. Looks like a spinout on turn 4.

It probably won't take long before he's beating me at the local contests -

For snow Woodland Senic's make it in a shaker. Check out the railroad dept, of your LHS. -
Hey guys I got this crazy idea, and was wondering if anyone here would be interested. I plan on doing a race track diorama, and am looking for entries for the race. I'm figuring around Sept 1-2011 for the track to be up and ready. It will be in HO or 1/87th scale, so all the cars will be that scale. There is a wide selection of cars, avaiable in that scale, so if you'd like to participate here are the rules for the builds. Any questions you may have you can contact me through a PM, or e-mail me at the address below. This will be photographed, and posted, on various boards, along the lines of what Ken did with the Kruise from a few years ago. Okay guys here is the rules for your entries. Oh yeah I forgot, a drivers name must appear on the car also. Also if you would please e-mail me with your cars number. Numbers will be from 00-99 in each class. My e-mail address is jrskberg@cableone.net Please have a alternate number in mind, in case of duplication. Also more then one entry is allowed, so you can enter as many as you wish, in one or both classes.

Mercman replied to Eshaver's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ed at one time I had over 60 49 Merc kits from AMT. Also I remember buying a load of pick up truck kits once. Cleaned out everyone they had. -
What did you get for Christmas?
Mercman replied to Railfreak78's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Got a box of spicy popcorn, some candy, and best of all 2 gift certificates for the LHS here in town. Also most important my kids were here to visit. -
These were built for a racing diorama, I have planned.

Well it's no longer a possible project. I started. This morning, late last night I built this. Not much of a crowd yet, as the track still has to be made also.

Brad glad to have brought back memories for you. Yeah it's a blast doing these little ones. I used to do 1/25th, but the room just wasn't there anymore for them. That and I got burned out on trying to super detail them for contests. I have a N scale 39 Ford coupe that I hope to chop yet. It's a resin cast so no engine going in it. Nice thing about this scale if you mess up it's not quite so noticeable. Still just about costs the same as doing the larger scales though. I will be looking forward to when you do get back into the small scale ones again, would like to see some of your mods.

Finished the topper. The rig is in the paint shop, topper will be white, and the truck will be Honduras Maroon. Also added this.

Got this one a bout a year ago, forgot I had it, and tonight decided to do something with it. The interior is a modified NASCAR unit in 1/87th. Thinking maybe Yellow with Black trim.
-
Thanks, this one will be a challenge, Besides the building itself, all of the small detail pieces. Probably make a few changes. As for supplies well stocked with plastic, and the such.
-
This was in the Nov. Walther's sale catalog. Now do I drop a c-note for the kit, or scratch build it?
-
Got these recently in a trade deal. They are pertty rough, but I like a challenge. Not much detail to them so I made interiors for them, and a camper type shell for the one. Guess I'll have to find a boat, and trailer for the one.

Here are shots of the roof I constructed. Cut some plexiglass stringers to get the plastic to hold it's shape. Here you can see how it'll look. I am adding trim to the sides yet. Darn it Bryan, weren't you told to stay off the roof. Looks like a OSHA guy is there keeping an I on him.

As you guys may remember each year I do a truck for the local Vet's club to be auctioned off. This will be the last one, as I have done 6 with this one, so here it is . This being the final one I thought it fitting that I do a picture of the Memorial wall, that the proceeds from these go to. To all of the Vet's on this board, and all others, I say thank you for your service, and sacrifice.

Here's what the front will look like. And one of the sides. Gotta have a door to get the transporter rig in and out of. Note that the floor is done. The interior of this one wont be quite as busy as the shop.
-
Decided we needed a warehouse for all of the projects at Racing Specialties. Just starting construction on it.
-
Here's the newest equipment to arrive, engine hoist, and stand. Both scratch built. The hoist is from Evergreen stock, and brass for strengthening.
-
Thanks Danny, as I do on your builds. Your garage was fantastic.
-
A few more shop items. Compressor. Pipe Rack. Hoist, which is in the paint shop drying. And finally a couple of shots of the interior.
-
Took some brass, and tried my soldering skills. Also found a floor jack. Now I have to try to solder a pipe rack, and a few other goodies.
