  1. Good move to do. When I was younger I would emerge from the basement and blow my nose after a painting session, and it looked like a rainbow. The latex, and good old fashioned rubber gloves come in handy also. I would also recommend getting a shop apron of sorts.
  2. One more post on this from my. I got to meet this gentleman before a concert one night. Really a nice guy. And finally the most famous guy I have ever known. My Dad. May he RIP, I sure miss him. It was him who decided I needed a hobby before I was a year old. He built one of the old Hi-way Pioneer cars for me. This was the only model he ever built. I still have it today.
  3. I should be okay I drive a Pink Floyd edition F-150.
  4. Another good source if you can find them are print shops. They sometimes have old plates that you can get for free. The average 12-15 in's. bu 24-30 in's.
  5. Doc never got to meet him in person, however I did locate a old ARMY buddy of his for him. The guy lived 60 miles west of me here in Fargo. For my efforts I got one of hius T-Shirt catalogs, and a nice autographed letter from him. Also we talked on the phone for 1/2 hour or better. He was my inspiration to draw. I would copy his designs from the postage stamp size ads in HR mag, and make them bigger. I also have had the honor of meeting Jan Berry from Jan and Dean fame. I bought the first 2 tickets to a show he did here in Fargo back in the 80's. I gave him a button I had made saying "SURF'S UP". Also Roger Maris from the Yankee's was born here, I have his autograph, and have met him a couple of times. Great person very humble. As for pics with the celebs. These were taken at George's shop in Hollywood. Roth Catalog. I've also met Lou F. The Incredible Hulk, and saw Morgana the sports star groupie.
  6. ( especially if you're an old fart like me and can remember the good old days as if they were yesterday!!!) -Tony I must really be old as I can barely remember yesterday. I built those cars your talking about. The originals, and the re-pops from Revell.Nice looking display you got going. Don't forget that Monogram, also had some 1/32nd cars also.
  7. I'm seriously considering the last one with the coupe.
  8. I had a bunch of the old 3-1 kit boxes, kind of fun to go to a contest with a vintage box. But alas they got wet last year, and are now history. I've used record albums for wall art, so framing them is a good idea. Sometimes you can sell the box for more than the kit it contained.
  9. I glue mine, and also the wheels so it don't roll off the shelf. A judge at one contest always complained about not having rolling wheels I told him the emergency brake was set. Finally one year I added a emer. brake in the on position.
  10. To answer your ? Tony he made it. It's a photoetch piece he has. You can see it all here. http://www.wildharemodels.com/
  11. Got these from another board. Good ideas, and pics.
  12. Been like that here also in Fargo. On my way home today alight rain started to fall. The roads will be a skating rink on Tue. Morn, and I have to drive 150 mi. with my semi to make a delivery. The Ice Road Truckers got nothing on me.
  13. Here it is over white primer. This one is Krylon Odd's and Ends Pink.
  14. This is my diorama base area, where ido most oif my base work Plaster, and the such. Paint storage, and ssome of my storage. Paint bench, and reference area. Finally the main bench. All of the rest of the pics are here. Not shown above are storage units for plastic, and metal, along with the saws, drill press, and belt snader. http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/mercman51/Bench/
  15. Finished the interior for the cafe. Decided to light it up also. The one bulb fell through a bit lower, but they are not permanent yet. Some outside detailing going on. Looks like someone tagged the side of the building. Hey Jim, do you know where Myron is hiding? This looks like his work.
  16. Another one would be the Tweedy Pie kit, and the re-release. They also did the Mysterion in 2 versions if I remember correctly.
  17. This is a repop of the Roth Outlaw kit. Notice the difference's . Mainly the intakes on the engine. Also different tires on the rear. Been along time since I built both.
  18. Yeah man been there, done that.
  19. That's the repop of the 63 Ford from AMT. Originally with the styline parts. Nice kit to build.
  20. Neat idea, I would section the cab just a bit to bring up the bottom body line to match the rear section.
  21. I've done some commissioned builds. I now charge a set price for a OTB build. This includes just paint, and Bare Metal. If they want detailing work done, like wiring a engine and the such the price goes up. This one was a straight price. This one was more as I had to order paint for it. The paint alone was $45.00. I got factory original paint for it. Basically if you do, you make up some kind of of contract with the terms spelled out.
