  1. Mine was a wall mounted cassette tape case. I removed some cross braces, and shored it up abit.
  2. Ah yes the memories High Tech engine wiring with sewing thread. Or how about those 49 cent Monogram kits. My first X-Acto knife cost me 29 cents. 10 cent paint and glue, 69 cent spray cans, Amt 3-1 kits $1.49. Lest I forget both of the models pictured are in my collection yet. The Mustang was my first contest winner, took 2nd place.
  3. Here's mine in a rare pic, it's clean. However if I took a current pic it would be buried with 5 projects. Main Bench Paint area Dio area where I do my plaster, and base prep. The rest can be seen here at the link. http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/mercman51/Bench/ Not shown here are the reference library, storage areas, and shelves with future projects. Also my saws, ans drill press.
  4. Just uploaded the pics from the contest. They are here at the link. http://s8.photobucke...!cpZZ1QQtppZZ24 For what's it worth I scored a first in diorama, and a second in the figure class.
  5. I too am into the Clive Cussler books. Currently reading one with Sam and Remi Fargo as the main characters. He has a great a style of writing. I would recommend his non fiction books highly. The one about locating old ship wrecks is excellent reading about old history, not boring in the least.
  6. Dave your attention to detail still astound me. I love the bird house, and the wind chimes.
  7. These are some resin, and white metal casting kits I did to try something different. The Hunchback figure represents Charles Laughton who played the Hunchback before Lon Chaney did.
  8. Hey Doc here's a thought. Use a display case for the 1/18th models. You can get a double one, or a single which would be like the Fujimi set.
  9. Tony a lot of the time depending on where you buy the plywood, they can cut it down to size for you. If nothing else invest in a Skil Saw. They run around 35-40.00, also might want to add a jig saw. IMO I would leave this one as is. Try the peeling paint effect on some other small project first to get the hang of it.
  10. Going to put a fork in it and call it done.
  11. I can relate to this. I have stuff stashed between the floor joists
  12. Hey tony KOOL site. Learned something new.
  13. It's called the Swirldellic paint job. First done be Hank Borger back inn the late 60's early 70's. Car Model mag had a how to back then on how he did it. The subject was a Mustang called the Moonwind. I used it on this one for a gift for my wife. When we got married I sold my car, and she had a Maverick.
  14. I have a old tupperware box that I keep mine in. I used to have them in a photo album with sticky pages, that was a mess. Now they jus lay loose, seal the top, and burp out the air. No problem.
  15. Tony here is a link to weathering wood. Hope it helps out. http://homepage.mac.com/michael21/CMShome/tutorialsandhow-.html The store is really taking nice shape. I have had the same problem you encountered. I found that doing the weathering first than gluing does a better job.
  16. I think I got the stance down on thius one. I did the body in aluminum Bare Metal.
  17. My attitude is NEVER to pass up on getting something I might regret later if I don't buy it now. After 10-15 years, you look around your bench an realize you are just one step away from being a hoarder. LOL! I'm closer than you think!!!!!!!!
  18. Being a dio builder I use a lot of things from around the house. However there are times when I can spend like a drunken sailor for items I will need in the future. For example just yesterday I placed an order with the LHS here for a good C-note worth of stuff. It will be used eventually, but was in a monthly sale catalog, so got it cheaper.
  19. I needed some signs and things for some various projects, so thought I would share them here. They are a mix of scales so you might have to resize any you need.
  20. Started with this kit. Going to replicate this. Got the insignia done. Got it right the first time. Hope to have it done by Sat next week for a show. No pressure or nothing. I plan on donating it to the air museum here. Originally I bought it for the drop tanks, to make a belly racer, for Bonneville.
  21. Here's a small pic of of my 1-1 car. This was taken about 3 weeks back when it was still cold here. Lately it's been in the 60-70's. Really strange weather for this area so early in the year. It's a FORD F-150 extended cab, with 107,000 miles on it. I have had it now for 10 years.
  22. He may be gone but his knowlege still lives on. We all miss you Jerry.
  23. Here is an example of a dio with and with out figures. You look at this and it's just another abandoned car. Now add a couple of figures, and it tells more of a story.
  24. Robert I have a cast metal Jimmy Flintstone jukebox. It is hollow. If interested PM me.
