  1. My wife brought them home from work. I would thuink a office supply store would have them though. I've seen them used on menu boards for restaurants. They have little prongs on the back that go into slots.
  2. Currently I have 10-15 going on. It's for a large diorama I'm doing. Mostly buildings, but a lot of detail work on them. On the back burner I have another 20-25 built in various stages waiting for a use.
  3. This is for you Tony here's a shot of the inside of the building. So I think a interior can be safely ruled out. For pics of the kit pieces go here. http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/mercman51/HO%20buildings/Rivoli%20Theatre/
  4. Just about got this one completed. Just have the roof to finish, and some small details on the building. Here are the shots though as done. Got the canopy up. Window shades in stalled. Whose that with the boss? Back of the building shots. Got the light fixtures done. Also looks like friends of Myron's have been by and tagged the building. this is a rough neighborhood for sure. And finally the name. This will give you some idea for size of the letters.
  5. Way back when I could see a double feature movie for 25 cents, candy bar ,pop, and popcorn was another 25 cents. Also you got 2 cartoons with this. The cars back then ran the gamut of jacked up, to Daddy's car. Also there was street rods, rat rods (WIP's), and all of the others then also. I ran a 47 Ford pu truck, my friends had a Camaro RS jacked up, 57 Chevy stock, 51 Ford stock, 51 Chevy , 65 Dodge with a 383 under the hood( it was a sleeper). So pertty much lived through it all. Got to the point youi knew had the baddest car, and who you could race and win, and those that you didn't choose off against. Oh yeah I forgot we also had 3 MC clubs here in town.
  6. First off you will have to choose a scale. Looks like after that it should be easy. Do you know what year the buildings are from?
  7. Jon best advice I could give would be do the spoon test. Take a plastic spoon, and primer with different colors. Then add your main color, and see what works best.
  8. For me it got to the point of not paying large sums for kits I bought for 2-3 bucks back when. It was the same old reruns all of the time just higher prices. I dabbled a bit in 1/87th also back then but not like now. So now I pay 20-50 for a kit, and don't blink an eye. I get to detail it as much, or little as I want, and can compete with the others in the same field. The detail work that had to go into the builds is what I got burned out on. Yes I still build 1/25th now and then, just when I find something really odd that appeals to me.
  9. Tony look at my avatar.
  10. Well you know where to find them if you need more.
  11. The name isn't chisled in stone yet. That may work. For ? 2 it's 1/87th scale. Making popcorn for this will be a challenge.
  12. Hey Doc maybe we should call you Mercman now instead of me.
  13. Hey I recognize those covers, and centerfolds.
  14. You could check the do;; house section of the craft stores they have some small hinges.
  15. Just picked this one up, brand new casting. Now what to show for movies? How a about a double creature feature.
  16. i agree, the Chevy would do nicely. so many options.
  17. Just about done with the 2nd floor offices. Gotta have music. Also decided to do a lunch room. Under the cupboards is a microwave, and sink. Still have a few odds, and ends to add yet.
  18. I would have to say this one. It is the only model that my Dad built. It was done back in 1953 before I was even a year old. He decided I needed a hobby, and little did he expect it to become what it is. I still have this one in my collection. My Dad passed on back in 98 but his memory still lives through this model. My dad and a young Mercman back when. Yeah Dad was a city cop for 33 years.
  19. Not!!!!! Boris is better looking.
  20. If you do the pin thing make sure you get Sequin Pins. These are shorter, and smaller than regular pins. They are about 1/2" long. A box of 500 will set you back about $3.00 or so. They will be in the craft stores like Michaels, or Hobby Lobby in the bead dept. Also they make great valve stems, and door locks.
  21. Yeah Elmers works good. You want the look of skim milk, about a 50/50 mix.
  22. Noah what I would do is coat it with a diluted mix of white glue, and water again. This way it will keeep it's shape. Then you can paint it without worry, and when dry you can dry brush on highlights. I took a heavy duty piece of tissue, and spray painted it Olive Drab camo paint. It got stiff, but will be workable when I need it.
