  1. You mean something like this. I did this one using s AMT 34 Ford lit. I have seen many in real life like it.
  2. Sorry to say but as a request of a friend I deleted the album. Anyone wanting the book, if they didn't see it already will have to search for a hard copy. Junior
  3. The final Races are posted. All of the races can be seen here. http://s13.zetaboards.com/B_n_B_Auto_Builders/topic/6753123/4/#new
  4. Yeah these are diecasts. Either Franklin, or Danbury Mint.
  5. Here are some pics of a commissioned build I recently completed. I started with the Borden rig, and a photo, and did these. I have done 3 of them so far, the first for the son of the milkmen, the next two for the milkmen themselve's. However I am sad to report that one of the guys has passed away recently unexpectedly. However at his funeral his son said that the model of his old truck brought him great joy.
  6. You can transition the edges with paint. Either use the colors on the top in a combination, or like most do they use a darker color. Your colors on the rocks look real good, and the landscaping is coming along fine, nicely done. Will be interesting to see what you mount on it to display. Here's a tip for you and anyone else. When using real dirt, if it's to granular, I put iit on a old baking sheet, then pulverize it with a rolling pin. After that I run it through a flour sifter to get the bigger grains out, and put the finished product in separate containers. For storage I use plastic condiment bottle like those for catsup, and mustard. Sorry for the small pic. Also one more tip, you should bake the dirt, sand, or what ever you use first to get/kill any nasty things that might be hiding on it. All of the above supplies can be found at the dollar store if you have one in your town, ot at one of the others for reasonable price. I think my rolling pin was only $4.00.
  7. Okay guys the Race has been started you can follow along at the link here. http://s13.zetaboards.com/B_n_B_Auto_Builders/topic/6753123/3/#new

  12. Show of hands, who's all going? I have a room one mile from the show, and will be there Sat. Terrorizing a couple of hobby shops.
  13. Yeah this stuff is fool proof. I managed to get it done. What was time consuming was all of the cut outs in the template.
  14. Here is what it looks like.
  15. As many of you may know I do mainly 1/87th scale builds. Well here's your chance to do the same. I am looking for entries for the Fall Classic Race. What is this you ask? This will be a diorama of a 1/8th mile dirt track, that will be having a race take place. All the entries will be given numbers, and put into a drawing to see where they are positioned on the track for the start. then numbers will be drawn again to see where they go on the track. Pictures will be taken during the race, and posted on various forums, to show the action. There will be heat races, and trophy dash, consolation race and of course the main feature. Prizes, will be awarded, along with trophies, and the inevitable bragging rights. Some of you may remember Ken Hamiliton's Fall Kruise, this will be somewhat on the same order. Below is a link to the rules, and the pics of what's going on so far. So I invite all of you to join in the fun, and come and race. http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/mercman51/Fall%20Classic%20Race/ Keep checking on the site below for updates, and more info. Or you may contact me direct, with any questions. Here is what some of the entries look like. This is a Monogram 57 Chevy, and Model Power 55 Chevy. Jordan 32 Ford.
  16. basically Out of the box build. 49 Merc taillights cut down, and added, parts box tires, everything else is from the Lindberg Kit. Color is Testors Root Beer Lacquer.
  17. Here's some interior shots.
  18. Picked these up at a show in March, had a good time doing the painting on them. Good test of my skills.
  19. This is the model B kit from Lindberg. Here is a pic of the color coat for my drag combo. Testors new lacquer paint Root Beer. I have the interior cut out, and will be installed soon, using white narrow wale corduroy for a simu;ated tuck, and roll effect. Trying to keep this is early 60's theme.
  20. Not a model car but a neat kit. This will be a good test of my painting skills. Also picked up some transparent red, and decal paper.
  21. Building these kits. This is from Monogram. They were called 49"ers as they only cost$0.49. This one was called the "Wolf Wagon". BTW this one still survives in my collection.
  22. Looks good. yeah the good Dr. is a bad influence. One observation though, use your X-Acto to ream out the stacks at the top to thin the walls just a bit.
  23. Thanks for the lead Doc. I just might have to check one out for myself. Still can't wait to see what you come up with.
