    New Shop

I was doing the framing of the windows and the doors when I run out of stock. The hobby shop was closed, so had to wait till today. Well made the trip today to the LHS so got the framing of the doors and windows done. Here are a pic to show them with the doors just taped in temporarily. Also got the roof cut, and made the chimney's. All of the doors were made from plastic sheet, and strip. Except for a few washes to weather the shed, and to make hinges for the doors, this one is done. Currently the roof is setting up, as I just glued it on, tomorrow it will go in the paint booth.

Ed I used to have a 51 Merc, until the ex filed for the big D.

    New Shop

Here are pics of the small garage. Rear (sorry for the blurry pic). Front and doors. And the roof shingled. The wood I got from Chester in the participants pack from the K&J Kruise. The shingles I found the paper in the scrap booking dept., and used a pinking shears to cut them. I know it shows cedar shake style shingles in the pic, but I prefer to think of it as artists creativity. The white areas will be painted a shade of gray, and the wood will get a wash of sorts to age it. Comments welcome, also suggestions.

ED more will be coming soon. I started on the door, and window frames, and some woood siding, and doors for the small garage. George this little build is 1/87th scale, HO. To answer your next ? no I don't have a train layout, I just got burned out on 1/25th. Also I used to dabble in this scale many years ago, but after seeing some of the smaller builds, I got back into it again. You cxan check out my builds, and in progress pics here. http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/mercman51/HO%20buildings/ Also if you scroll down aways, you'll find Mr. Roger's Neighborhood build I just completed.
  5. You'll have to copy them from here I sold the kit.

Okay I cleaned the bench, but it didn't last long. Here are the mock up pics of the buildings. They are currently in the gluing jig. This is what I used for the buildings. It's a hard canvas for oil painting. This is the pic I am using for reference.
  7. Here are the final shots. Front Rear This was a fun build, now on to something new.
  8. Spent the weekend working on this. Got ythe landscaping done, and some of the small details. Still have a few things to add to it this week. So here are the newest progress pics. Sneaking out the back. Told you not to mix beer and wine. PeeWee Herman incognito. Waiting to get across the corner of 69th Ave, and Esames St.
  9. Needed a dumpster or two for my scene, so I made this. Here is the raw product Gives you an idea of what it looks like. Painted version, needs to be crudied up yet. And finally the plans. With dimensions. Like I said this is 1/87th scale, a 1/25th wouldn't be much harder to do. Comments welcome.
  10. Getting down to the end. Here are some little details I've added. I think the streets turned out okay, maybe so-so. This area will be a bus stop. I swear the hydrant wasn't there when I parked!
  11. Got the first coat of paint on the redo last night. Here's some of the detail of the broken street. Still have to weather it a bit more, and add some more detail to it. I think I have the final layout for the buildings planned. The area next to the bar, will get a fence put in, so part of it wll be hidden. Probably parking or a green space between the buildings where another building had once been. Drilled holes in the base to run my wiring thu for the lights in the hotel, and Bea's store. Also thought maybe this for the side of the DL . I see now that I have to redo the sign.
  12. Try this link. This guy is a creative genius when it comes to brick work. http://s13.zetaboards.com/B_n_B_Auto_Builders/topic/6696565/1/
  13. Harry yeah it saved me the trouble of trying to scribe them. That's the look I was going for.
  14. Managed to save it. Here are the aftermath pics. Jigsaw pieces After the redo. I glued everything down, using Aileen's tacky glue. The holes in the street will get patched with modelers asphalt, like I used for the alley. Have to add a road crew now, to make it look like repairs are being made.
  15. Houston we have a problem. Hindsight being 20-20 they say, tonite I had a small set back. While attaching the main board to a base I built this afternoon, I bumped the darn thing and lost 1/3rd of the pavement, and alley way. Luckily the pieces are big, so should be able to reglue them. This will give it some character though, as now I can add a street repair crew. Also learned that the next one I build the base, and glue the board first before any paving work.
  16. Harry, everything you mentioned is on the to-do list. I have a lot of little details to add to it yet as you pointed out. Got some neat little things planned. I made up the street signs, this will be the corner of 69th Ave. and EMASES ST. ( read this one backwards) The buildinding will be grouped tighter, and the washes, and junkifying will begin soon.
  17. It's 1/87th HO scale. The off sale and the hotel light up. Here's a shot of the inside of the bar.
  18. Still have a few things yet to finish on it, but this will give you an idea of the layout. Comments, and suggestions welcome.
  19. harry I have to plead ignorance here. I had NOOOOOOOOOOO idea what the movie was about. A friend of mine run the theatre, and started showing special midnite movies on Fri. This happened to be playing. Never so embarrassed in my life. She almost didn't go out with me again. However our next date was tamer. So to summon up a long story, on April 13 we elebrate 25 years of wedded bliss. Got to admit I good a good one. Not many women would put up with the likes of us model builders.
  20. Here's the Lobby. Is that Mr. Rogers? One of the rooms. The other.
  21. Needed something for this build so today when I got back to town, I hit the local party supply store. I scored these. I only needed one maybe two, but had to buy a box of 100. What to do with all of these things now. I can think of a few ideas already ^o) .
  22. Yeah I remember that movie. With Divine the star. It was the first movie I took my wive to, back when we were dating. Oh what a night. Never so embarrassed in my life. Kept on asking her if she wanted to leave, but she stuck it out. I had no idea what the movie was like. Haven't been the same since. LOL. Seriously though this is a fun little tongue in cheek build. Just something that not many ad to their displays.
  23. Here's one more building for the neighborhood. You can get a room by the hour, day, or week. The rooms will be small on this build. Here's some of the furniture so far. May use this for the sign.
  24. I just wish I had thought of it. don't know who did it, buts it's good for a laugh.
  25. The rig came a ready built model. I just disassembled it, and redid it. I used to drink Miller HL, and also Gen. Draft this is why I decorated it as such. Like I said I have a fleet of these small 1/87th trucks so more will be forthcoming. I also have some ready made Pepsi trucks in 1/87th, but they need detailing to make them look good. They are diecast like Matchbox type vehicles, so need different tires. Oh yeah you can get this trailer from Walther's, also a straight truck with the beverage box also. Check your local hobby shop that carries HO scale trains.
