MCM Ohana (6/6)

  1. Looks terrific!
  2. I’m gonna stick my 2cents in as to why S&M engines were painted with Ford paint (as were the race cars until 1970). The simple explanation is that S&M had a huge stockpile of Ford paint left over from their Mercury sponsorship. That said, I’m going to make it a priority to seek out Buddy and Herb at Carlisle this weekend and ask them!
  3. I really liked this car that I built over 12 years ago. After a few moves, it seems to have disappeared along with many of my FOTKI album photos ( where the heck do they go?) I don't think that I will ever be able to replicate this build but, who knows? All I have left are these photos.
  4. I built this car many years ago when the kit was first issued. I never was happy with the paint (too dark) . I must have used gold as a base coat. Not bad but it didn't match the real car and that bothered me. I decided that a repaint was in order! Tamiya clear red over a silver base coat along with some new Slixx decals. Nice color. Only took me about twenty years to correct it!šŸ˜€
  5. That is cool!
  6. Nah, I think that I've just become lazy or my skills have diminished . I don't care . I still have fun building models.
  7. Really, really nice! The interior tub should be a model all by itself!šŸ˜€
  8. Great job! You've taken an ancient ( below average ) kit and turned it into a masterpiece!
  9. Nice job on the car! Photos are also very well done.
  10. Well done! Interior looks great.
  11. You did a really nice job on this one!
  12. I also like the lowered look! Very nice.
  13. Very realistic and extremely well detailed! My favorite kind of build!
  14. I believe that main reason S&M engines and even the cars through ā€˜69 were painted with Ford paint is that they had so much of it. When the team requested paint from Ford back in 1964, they were sent a truckload from Michigan. It was part of their sponsorship agreement. They had enough paint to last for years even though the sponsorship was over a few months after it started. That is the story I got from a former S&M team member.
